"Kamsa Chanura
Mardanam" (कंसचाणूरमर्दनम्)
means "the destroyer of Kamsa and Chanura," a famous epithet for Lord
Krishna from the opening lines of the popular Krishna Ashtakam, describing Him
as the son of Vasudeva, supreme joy to Devaki, and teacher of the world. It
refers to Krishna's divine act of slaying the tyrannical King Kamsa and the
wrestler Chanura, liberating his parents and people.
