பக்தி காவியங்களிலே திருப்பாவை ஒரு உயர்ந்த இடத்தைக்கொண்டது.   ஆண்டாள் நீராட்ட உத்சவத்தில்  ஆறாம்  நாள் இன்று (11.1.2026)  .. திருப்பாவையில், இன்றைய நாள் பாசுரம் =   “கூடாரை வெல்லும் சீர்க் கோவிந்தா ” !! அக்காரம்  என்ற சொல் அறிவீரா !!  .. .. மிக மிக இனியது இது.

                Today ~  is a very significant day,  the 27^th  day of the tamil month of Margazhi. Colloquially known as “Koodarai Valli” – this is a day, when  sweet pongal [made of jaggery with ghee flowing] is offered to God and then shared with all near and dear.. This day assumes significance from the pasuram of Chudi Kudutha Nachiyar – Andal.  In the month of Margazhi starting from day one, one verse of Thiruppavai is ascribed to a day and today is the 27th verse “Koodarai vellum Seer Govinda” 

பொங்கல் பண்டிகை என்றாலே புத்தாடைகளுடன், புதுப்பானையில் சுவையான பொங்கலிட்டு, சூரியனுக்குப் படைப்பதுதான்.  பொங்கலுக்கு மிக முக்கியமானது புதிதாக விளைந்த அரிசியும், புது வெல்லமும்தான்.  வெல்லம்  எனப்படுவது பதனிடப்படாத சர்க்கரை ஆகும்.  வெல்லம் இந்திய துணைக்கண்டத்தில் சுமார் 2500 ஆண்டுகளுக்கும் மேலாக தொன்றுதொட்டு உட்கொள்ளப்படும் ஒரு பண்டமாகும்.  அக்காரம்  : என்பதற்கு பல பொருட்கள் உண்டு.  :   இனிப்பான பொருள், வெல்லம் / சர்க்கரை; கற்கண்டு, கரும்பு என்பன முக்கியமானவை.  அக்காரம் என்பதற்கு கரும்பு, கரும்பில் இருந்து எடுக்கப்படும் சர்க்கரை என்று பொருள். அடிசில் என்றால் சோறு.  எம்பெருமானுக்கு சமர்ப்பிக்கப்படும்  நெய்யும், பாலும் அதிகம் சேர்த்து செய்யப்படும் இந்த அக்கார அடிசில், கைகளில் எடுத்தால் வழிந்தோடும்படியான, பாதி திட திரவ பதத்தில் இருக்கும். 

பாவை நோன்பு நோற்கும் ஆண்டாளும் தோழிகளும்  -  “வையத்து வாழ்வீர்காள்” பாசுரத்தில், “நெய்யுண்ணோம் பாலுண்ணோம்” என்று பிரதிஜ்ஞை பண்ணின இவர்கள் இன்று நோன்பு நோற்று முடிக்கையாலே உணவை வேண்டுகின்றனர்.  ஆண்டாள் நாச்சியார் திருமொழியில் திருமாலிருஞ்சோலை நம்பிக்கு  நூறு தடாவில் வெண்ணெய் நூறு தடா நிறைந்த அக்கார அடிசில் சமர்ப்பித்து, ஏறுதிருவுடையான் இன்று வந்திவை  கொள்ளுங்கொலோ எனப் பாட,  எம்பெருமானார் உடையவர் அவளுடைய நேர்த்தியைப் பூர்த்தி செய்யத் திருமாலிருஞ்சோலை அழகருக்கு நூறு தாடா அக்கார அடிசலும், வெண்ணையும் சமர்பித்து ஆண்டாளுக்கு அண்ணனானார். 

இன்று பாசுர சிறப்பிற்காக  பால், நெய், அரிசி, பயத்தம் பருப்பு வெல்லம், ஏலக்காய்த் தூள், பச்சைக் கற்பூரம் இவை கலந்து அக்காரவடிசல் பதமாக செய்யப்பட்டு, எம்பெருமானுக்கு சமர்ப்பிக்கப்பட்டு,  “கூடியிருந்து குளிர்ந்து” என ஆண்டாள் நாச்சியார் அருளிச்செய்தபடி, அனைவருக்கும் வழங்கப்படுகின்றது 

 The true quality of Sri Vaishnavaite is to renounce everything, fall at the Lotus feet of  Sriman Narayana and feel happy of the fact of being his  eternal follower, allowing the Master to decide, determine and dictate the future. The best of wealth that one can get is the chance to do kainkaryam (service) to the God Himself and to Bhagavathas (His followers)

பாடிப் பறைகொண்டு யாம்பெறு சம்மானம்*

நாடு புகழும் பரிசினால் நன்றாகச்*

சூடகமே தோள்வளையே தோடே செவிப்பூவே*

பாடகமே என்றனைய பல்கலனும் யாமணிவோம்*

ஆடை உடுப்போமதன்பின்னே பாற்சோறு*

மூடநெய் பெய்து முழங்கை வழிவாரக்*

கூடியிருந்து குளிர்ந்தேலோரெம்பாவாய்.

நெய்யுண்ணோம், பாலுண்ணோம் என்று சொன்னவர்கள் மூட நெய் பெய்து முழங்கை வழிவார உன்றன்னைப் பாடிப்பறை கொண்டு கூடியிருந்து உண்போம் என்று நோன்பினால் உன்னை அடைகிறோம் – அதனால் நோன்பின் பூர்த்தியாக உன் ப்ராஸாதங்களை நீ அருளியவற்றை அனுபவிக்கிறோம் என விசேஷம்.  

கோதைப்பிராட்டி இந்த  கூடாரை வெல்லுஞ் சீர்க் கோவிந்தா! பாசுரத்தில், இனி வரும் இரண்டு பாசுரங்களிலுமாக கோவிந்த நாமத்தை அனுசந்திக்கிறாள். கூடாரை என்றால் – இவனை வணங்கமாட்டேன் என்று த்வேஷிக்கிற பேர்களை கூட  வெல்லுகிற கோவிந்தா என்கிறாள்.  கூடாரை என்றால் வெறுக்கிற பேர்வழிகள். வெறுப்பாலேயே சதா அவனைப்பற்றி நினைத்துக் கொண்டிருப்பவர்கள். ஹிரண்யாக்ஷன் – ஹிரண்யகசிபு, ராவணன் – கும்பகர்ணன், சிசுபாலன் – தந்த வக்ரன் என்று வெறுப்பின் மூல முடிச்சாக, ஆணி வேறாக – இதற்கு மேலாக வெறுக்க முடியாது என்ற அசுரேந்த்ரர்களாக, த்வேஷ திலகமாக இருப்பவர்களை தோற்கப்பண்ணுகிறானாம்! அவர்கள் கருத்தைப் பிழைப்பித்து வெல்கிறான். கோ என்றால் பசு. பசுதனம் லபதே விந்ததி இதி கோவிந்த: என்றார்கள். பசுக்கள் அவனை எங்களை ரக்ஷிக்க வா.. எங்கள் பின்னால் வா என்று அழைக்கவில்லை. அப்படி வருவதால் நாங்கள் கேட்காமலே வந்தாயே என்று கொண்டாடப் போவதுமில்லை. இப்படி இருக்கிற பசுக்கள் பின்னாடியும் போனானே! அவைகள் கேட்காமலே ரக்ஷித்தானே என்று அந்த அர்த்ததில் ரக்ஷிப்பவன் கோவிந்தன் – வெறுப்பில்லாமல் இருப்பதே போதும் என்று கொண்டிருப்பவன் கோவிந்தன் என்று கோவிந்தா என்ற பதத்தை ஆண்டாள் ப்ரயோகித்தாள்! 

சூடகமே, தோள்வளையே, தோடே, செவிப்பூவே, பாடகமே என்றனைய பல்கலனும் – கேசாதி பாதமாக எல்லா அங்கங்களிலும் அணியும் பல்கலனும் நீ தரவேண்டும். சூடகம் என்னும் கைவளை, தோள்வளை, தோடு, செவிப்பூ என்னும் செவிக்கு மேலே அணிகிற நகை, பாடகம் என்றால் பாதத்தில் அணிகிற கழற்காப்பு என்று இவற்றை தரவேண்டும் என்கிறார்கள். உடுத்து களைந்த நின் பீதகவாடை என்று பெரியாழ்வார் பாடியது போல், அவனுடைய ஆடையையும் இவர்கள் எடுத்து அணிகிறார்கள்.  அதன்பின்னே பால்சோறு, மூட நெய்பெய்து முழங்கை வழிவார என்று வ்ரத பூர்த்தியாக, பால் சோறும், முழங்கை வரை வழியும் அளவுக்கு நெய்யுமாக அவனுக்கு சமர்பித்து தாங்களும் அனுபவித்து கூடியிருந்து குளிர்வோம் என்கிறாள் ஆண்டாள். 

To us, the bakthas, it is not only of getting that much sought benevolence of God but more of sharing them with all bhakthas *கூடியிருந்து குளிர்ந்து* [koodi irunthu kulirnthu]. Thiruppavai is also about Govindha Naama Sankeerthanam which reaches its peak in the concluding verses where She ponders ‘kurai ondrum illatha Govinda’. The myriad meanings of Thiruppavai are detailed in many many discourses of Sri Vaishnavaite Periyavars, especially during this month. 

Let us all get the great éclat and glory of all the Worlds by adorning ourselves eating rice food prepared using milk with sumptuous ghee and who eats this ksheerannam will stand ever united and remain cool in heart and joyous by the blessings of the Lord.   I offer my obeisance again and again to Goddess Godhadevi – to her alone – who awakened Lord Krishna and binded him with floral garlands already worn by her.

It's winter time in the northern hemisphere, but that's a season Chennai residents barely notice. Severe cold has gripped Tamil Nadu for weeks, with heavy fog statewide. Today morning  (Jan 11), Chennai was  unusually cold, with the chill lasting even into the afternoon.  When it drizzled it appeared as though small cold pricks .. and around the time of purappadu it was pretty cold and slight drizzle.  Due to some asantharpam, it was only siriya maada veethi purappadu.

திருப்பாற்கடலில் பள்ளி கொண்டாயே ! ஸ்ரீமன் நாராயணா !!

 

Today 1.12.2025   is Karthigai Revathi  - ~ today is Ekadasi too – a very special one at that –“Kaisika Ekadasi”.   Sure you would have heard and admired that great song “Thirupparkadalil Palli kondaye – Sriman Narayana ” !! 

Ekadasi is an all important day ~  and today  assumes greater significance being Kaisika Ekadasi.  On days of Ekadasi – fasting, worshipping Sriman Narayana and listening to religious discourses are all valued.  Upavavasa could mean ‘remaining by the side of the Lord’ – and on these days, we should eat only food that is offered to Perumal, medidate, recite and think of Sriman Narayana all the time.  I have been writing about “Kaisika Mahatmiyam” and the story of Nampaduvaan.  Of the many Ekadasis, the one occurring in the Shukla paksha of Karthigai month is very important.  Kaisika is ‘Punn’ [raga / tune] – the legend of Kaisika puranam is associated with Numpaduvan at Thirukurungudi – which I would post  in detail separately.  

ஏகாதசி என்பது சந்திரனின் இயக்கத்தை அடிப்படையாகக் கொண்ட காலக் கணிப்பு முறையில், 15 நாட்களுக்கு ஒரு முறை சுழற்சி முறையில் வரும்  ஒரு நாள்.    இந்த நாட்கள் பொதுவாகத் "திதி" என்னும் பெயரால் அழைக்கப்படுகின்றன. அமாவாசை நாளையும், பூரணை (பௌர்ணமி, முழு நிலவு) நாளையும் அடுத்து வரும் பதினோராவது திதி ஏகாதசி ஆகும். ஏகாதச எனும் வடமொழிச் சொல் பதினொன்று எனப் பொருள்படும்.   30 நாட்களைக் கொண்ட சந்திர மாதமொன்றில் அமாவாசைக்கு அடுத்த நாள் முதல் பூரணை ஈறாக உள்ள சுக்கில பட்சம் எனப்படும் வளர்பிறைக் காலத்தின் பதினோராம் நாளும், பூரணையை அடுத்து வரும் நாளிலிருந்து அமாவாசை முடிய உள்ள கிருட்ண பட்சம் எனப்படும். 

கைசிகம் என்பது ஒருவகைப் பண் ஆகும். வராக அவதாரத்தின்போது பூமாதேவிக்கு வராகப் பெருமாள் (எம்பெருமான் ஸ்ரீமன் நாரணன்) இதை அருளியதாக வராக புராணம் கூறுகிறது. வைகுண்ட ஏகாதசி முன்னர் வரும், கார்த்திகை மாத வளர்பிறை ஏகாதசி அன்று பாணர் குலதிலகம் நம்பாடுவான் கைசிகப் பண் இசையில் பாடியதால் இந்த ஏகாதசியை கைசிக ஏகாதசி என்றும் அழைப்பர்,. திருநெல்வேலி மாவட்டம் நாங்குநேரி அருகேயுள்ள திருக்குறுங்குடிக் கோயிலில் குடிகொண்டுள்ள நம்பிப்பெருமாள் மீது பக்திகொண்ட பாணர் குலத்தைச் சேர்ந்த நம்பாடுவார் என்ற பக்தரின் இறைப்பற்றைக் கூறுவதுதான் கைசிக புராணம். 

Western Ghats, very rich in bio-diversity,  is older than the Himalayan mountain range. The  forests of the wide ranging region include some of the best representatives of non-equatorial tropical evergreen forests in the world. A UNESCO World Heritage site, the Western Ghats has a significant impact on the monsoon weather pattern in the country.  At least 325 globally threatened (IUCN Red Data List) species occur in the Western Ghats. It possesses rich varieties of  flora and fauna and some of the critically endangered ones thrive here. Howsoever interesting it be otherwise, for us – this mountain range is most important to Srivaishnavaites for the great divyadesam .

It is “ThirukKurungudi” divyadesam  located on the  foot of the Mahendra Hill on the Western Ghat. From Chennai, one can take the Kanyakumari/Ananthapuri Express to Valliyur. From here, one can reach Thirukkurungkudi (10 km) in 20 minutes by boarding the Papanasam bound bus.   At this divine place, stands the most majestic Azhagiya Nambirayar Temple ~ sung by Periyazhwar,  Thirumazhisaippiran, Thirumangai Azhwar and Swami Nammazhwar.   The famous ‘Kaisika puranam’ is associated with this temple and is read on ‘shukla paksha’ dwadasi of the month of Karthigai, known as ‘Kaisika Dwadasi’ and enacted in drama form too .. .. ..  here is Swami Nammalwar’s pasuram on this divyadesam : 

எங்ஙனேயோ அன்னை மீர்காள்!   என்னை முனிவது நீர்?,

நங்கள்கோலத்   திருக்குறுங்குடி நம்பியை நான்  கண்டபின்,

சங்கினோடும் நேமியோடும் தாமரைக் கண்களொடும்,

செங்கனிவாய்   ஒன்றினொடும் செல்கின்றது  என்நெஞ்சமே !  

நம்மாழ்வார் நாயகி பாவத்திலே  எம்பெருமானிடம் ஆழ்ந்த மையல் கொள்கிறார்.  அவர் உரைக்கும் வார்த்தை !  அன்னைமீர்களே !  நீங்கள் என்னை சீறுவது எதற்கு? சீறிப் பயனென்? வேறுமாகில் திருக்குறுங்குடி நம்பியின் வடிவழகைச் சீறுங்கோள்!  திருக்குறுங்குடிப் பெருமானை, அந்த வடிவழகிய நம்பியை  நான் ஸேவிக்கப் பெற்ற பின்பு, என் நெஞ்சமமானது, எப்படி பொருந்தி என்னிடம் இருக்கும் ?  நாம் அநுபவிப்பதற்குரிய சிறந்தவனான - சங்கு சங்கரங்களோடும்,  அழகிய தாமரை  போன்ற  திருக்கண்களோடும், சிவந்த கனிபோன்ற ஒப்பற்றதான அதரத்தோடும் உள்ள எம்பெருமானை நோக்கியே செல்கின்றது.  அவனிடம் சேர்த்தலே நம் அனைவருக்கும் உலப்பு - நம்மை செம்மைப்படுத்த வல்லது.

இந்தக் கைசிக புராண நாடகத்தை 500 ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன்பே சங்கரக்கம்பர், நாராயணன், குறுங்குடி காந்தம்மாள் போன்றோர் நாடக வடிவில் இயற்றி நடித்து வந்தனராம்.  தமிழிசை மரபில் ‘கைசிகப்பண்’ என்றழைக்கப்படுவதே இன்றைய ‘பைரவி’யாகும். (ஹிந்துஸ்தானி இசையில் ‘பைரவி என்றழைக்கப்படுவது கர்நாடக இசையின் ‘தோடி’ ராகமாகும்).: ராகங்களும் திரைப்படப் பாடல்களும்  ~ அறந்தை மணியன் [லக்ஷ்மன் ஸ்ருதி இணையத்தில்].    ஸ்வாமி ஐயப்பன் படத்தில் பிரபலமான "திருப்பாற்கடலில் பள்ளி கொண்டாயே ! ஸ்ரீமன் நாராயணா" என்ற பாடல் இந்த பண்ணில் அமைந்துள்ளதாம்.   படம்: ஸ்வாமி ஐயப்பன்(1975);  பாடியவர்: கே ஜே யேசுதாஸ்;          இசையமைப்பாளர்: த.தேவராஜன்; பாடல் வரிகளை எழுதியவர் : கவியரசு  கண்ணதாசன். 

Cyclonic Storm Ditwah was a weak but catastrophic tropical cyclone.  It devastated Sri Lanka threatened Tamil Nadu hovering  in and around for few days – it did bring in  heavy rains to Sri Lanka and Southern India.   The fourteenth tropical depression and fourth cyclonic storm of the 2025 North Indian Ocean cyclone season, Ditwah, originated from a well-marked low before steadily intensifying into a cyclonic storm and making landfall in Sri Lanka. Ditwah then moved off Sri Lanka and entered the Bay of Bengal, where it re-intensified and began to parallel the Coromandel Coast of India. Though it weakened, it moved at a very slow pace, and it kept raining on and on.

As it rained almost the entire day, there was no Kaisika Ekadasi purappadu at Thiruvallikkeni on 1.12.2025.  Here are some photos of  Sri Parthasarathi Perumal – purappadu on 13.12.2013 – a good 12 years ago.

Sunshine through the rain !! - Purattasi Krishnapaksha Ekadasi 2025

How to live a luxurious life ! or enjoy the life as it is !!  ~  the immediate answer could be – ‘day-dreaming’ !  It does rain in Chennai during the month of Avani .. .. and rarely there could be rain with Sun too shining !! 

 

2) A young boy's mother tells him to stay at home during a day when the sun is shining through the rain, warning him that kitsune (foxes) have their weddings during such weather, and do not like to be seen. He defies her wishes, wandering into a forest where he witnesses the slow wedding procession of the kitsune. He is spotted by them and runs home. His mother meets him at the front door, barring the way, and says that an angry fox had come by the house, leaving behind a tantō knife. The mother gives the knife to the boy and tells him that he must go and beg forgiveness from the foxes, refusing to let him return home unless he does so.  

For almost all – dreams are but normal.  Have you ever had that trippy moment where, in the middle of a dream, you suddenly wake-up or  know you’re dreaming? Maybe you even controlled what happened next, flying across a cityscape, talking to a long-lost friend, or rewriting the ending of a nightmare.  There is popular saying that people go any distance – chasing their dreams !

 

Every night as I hit the bed, my eyes close and I fall asleep –  they start ! – almost unending .. .. when I get up whether in between in the dead of night or early morning, I can almost recall the story that was running !  … .. ‘dreams’ ! .. .. Dreams can be entertaining, disturbing, or downright bizarre. We all dream, even if we don't remember it the next day. 

 

Dreams are the mental and emotional experiences—a succession of thoughts, images, and sensations—that occur during sleep, most vividly during the REM (rapid eye movement) stage. While the exact purpose of dreaming is still debated, leading theories suggest dreams help the brain process information, solve problems, sort emotions, and even practice responses to threats. Dreams can range from pleasant to terrifying and often draw on recent experiences, though they can also be fantastical. 

Dreams are the stories the brain tells during the REM (rapid eye movement) stage of sleep. People typically have multiple dreams each night that grow longer as sleep draws to a close. Over a lifetime, a person may dream for five or six full years!!  How best to examine all that content remains a source of debate.  Almost by definition, a dream is something you are aware of at some level. It may be fragmentary, disconnected, and illogical, but if you aren’t aware of it during sleep then it isn’t a dream. Many people will protest, “I never remember my dreams!,” but that is a different matter entirely. Failing to remember a dream later on when you’re awake doesn’t mean you weren’t aware of it when it occurred. It just means the experience was never really carved into your memory, has decayed in storage, or isn’t accessible for easy call back. 

That strange in between state is called lucid dreaming, and it has fascinated scientists, psychologists, and sleep researchers for decades.  Most of the time, we drift through these dreamscapes without questioning them. But in a lucid dream, something remarkable happens, your brain becomes self-aware inside the dream.

Researchers say this awareness comes from the prefrontal cortex, the brain’s reasoning and decision-making hub flickering awake while you’re still asleep. Normally, this area takes a break during dreams, which is why your dream logic feels so bizarre (like not questioning why your math teacher just turned into a flamingo or playing a game of Chess with a person whom you briefly saw standing next to your bike in the signal this evening) 

There have been researches on lucid dreams in controlled sleep lab experiments, with  researchers asking  lucid dreamers to move their eyes in specific patterns once they became aware in their dream. A famous study even found that when lucid dreamers performed a task like “counting” or “practicing hand movements” in a dream, the same brain areas lit up as they would in waking life. The dream world, it seems, can mimic the waking brain surprisingly closely.   Science shows it’s a real phenomenon, not just a mystical idea. The human brain is wild enough to let you live two lives at once: the one where you’re awake, and the one where your sleeping self knows it’s in a dream.

 

Moving totally away, for Srivaishnavaite, be it thought, action, wisdom, plan, strategy or even dreams – life is all about thinking of Sriman Narayana, singing paeans on Him and doing kainkaryams unto Him and his devotees.

ஸ்வாமி நம்மாழ்வார் திருவாய்மொழியில் - எம்பெருமான் திருவடிகளை சென்னிக்கு அணியாக கொண்டு அனுபவிக்கப் பெற்றோர்க்கு  கிட்டும் கிடைத்தற்கரிய பலன்களை விவரிக்கிறார்.  எம்பெருமானிடத்திலே சரணாகதி  செய்தல்,  நாம் இடர்படும் போதும், மகிழ்வுறும் போதும் இறைச் சிந்தனையுடன் இருப்பது நமக்கு இடர் இல்லாப் பெருவாழ்வை அளிக்கிறது.

இன்று 17.9.2025  கிருஷ்ணபக்ஷ ஏகாதசி - இன்று புரட்டாசி மாச பிறப்பும் கூட. திருவல்லிக்கேணியில் ஸ்ரீபார்த்தசாரதி எம்பெருமான் அற்புதமான அலங்காரத்துடன், அழகான மலர் மாலைகளுடன் பெரிய மாட வீதி புறப்பாடு கண்டருளினார். இன்றைய புறப்பாட்டில் ஸ்ரீபார்த்தசாரதி எம்பெருமானின் திவ்யசேவை.

Allikkeni Azhagan, Sri Parthasarathi Emperuman is the saviour  ~ the great Emperuman to whom the celestials bow their crowned heads at His feet offering choicest fresh flowers.  Here are some photos of that great Emperuman at Thiruvallikkeni divyadesam. 

   

Before concluding – if you remember para 2 of this post : it was the plot of ‘Dreams’ - Akira Kurosawa's Dreams, a  magical realist anthology film of eight vignettes written and directed by Akira Kurosawa that hit the screens in 1990. Inspired by actual recurring dreams that Kurosawa had,  it starred Akira Terao, Martin Scorsese, Chishū Ryū, Mieko Harada and Mitsuko Baisho. It was the director's first film in 45 years in which he was the sole author of the screenplay. An international co-production of Japan and the United States,  it was made  with assistance from George Lucas and Steven Spielberg, and funded by Warner Bros.  the movie anthology addresses themes such as childhood, spirituality, art, death, and mistakes and transgressions made by humans against nature.  The film does not have a single narrative, but is episodic in nature, following the adventures of a "surrogate Kurosawa" through eight different segments, or "dreams", each one titled. The one described at start is from -  "Sunshine Through the Rain"

Aadi Ekadasi 2025 ! ~ another hotter day !!

 

Today is Aadi Shukla Paksha Ekadasi –– even though it is Aug, there is extreme heat in the city and many places.

Aristarchus of Samos   was an ancient Greek astronomer and mathematician who presented the first known heliocentric model that placed the Sun at the center of the universe, with the Earth revolving around the Sun once a year and rotating about its axis once a day.

Sri Andal Neeratta Uthsavam 3 2025 - மாரி மலை முழைஞ்சில் - சீரிய சிங்கம்

1993 தீபாவளி அன்று - பிரபு, ரம்பா, பானுபிரியா நடித்த உழவன் என்றொரு படம் வெளிவந்தது. !!!

 

மாரி,  என்ற பெயர்ச்சொல்லுக்கு :  மழை; பூராடம்; கள்; புள்வகை; மரணம்; பெரியம்மை என்று பல பொருட்கள் இருந்தாலும் - இன்றைய பதிவில் மாரி என்றால் மழை !!! மாரிகாலம் அல்லது மழைக்காலம் என்பது ஒரு பருவ காலம் -  குறிப்பிட்ட இடம் அல்லது ஒரு நாடு, ஒரு ஆண்டில் ஒன்று அல்லது ஒன்றுக்கு மேற்பட்ட ஒரு சில மாதங்கள், சராசரி மழைவீழ்ச்சியை பெறும் காலமே மாரிகாலம் என அழைக்கப்படுகின்றது.

 

பக்தி காவியங்களிலே திருப்பாவை ஒரு உயர்ந்த இடத்தைக்கொண்டது.  ஸ்ரீமன் நாராயணனிடத்திலே அபரிமிதமான காதல், மிக அழகான சொல்லாடல், எளிய நடை, ஒரே தடவை படித்தவுடன் புரியக்கூடிய அர்த்தம் எனினும் பல்லாயிரக்கணக்கான வியாக்கியானங்கள்  ~  எல்லாம் கோதைப்பிராட்டியின் திருப்பாவைக்கே உரியன.  ஆண்டாள் நீராட்ட உத்சவத்தில் மூன்றாம் நாள் இன்று - 7.1.2025 .. இன்றைய நாள் பாசுரம் ~  திருப்பாவையில் 'மாரி மலைமுழைஞ்சில் மன்னிக் கிடந்து  உறங்கும்' !!

 

Rains  -  the northeast monsoon has come to an end, after recording 33 per cent excess rain with 590 mm of rainfall from October to December. The withdrawal of the monsoon is likely to be announced after January 15, said weather officials. With 1,179 mm of rainfall in 2024, Tamil Nadu  recorded excess spells throughout the year, with no district recording deficit rainfall, unlike the previous years. Tirunelveli topped the list with 100 per cent increase. Chennai, too, had a beneficial year, continuing the run for the fifth consecutive year. 

"The easterly wind was more active in the State in 2024, which was one of the reasons for the above-average rainfall. Four  cyclones were formed compared to six during the monsoon seasons in the previous year, State  received excess rainfall under the influence of low-pressure areas and depressions prevailed over the sea. During the northeast and southwest monsoons, Tamil Nadu recorded 33 per cent and 18 per cent excess rainfall, respectively, whereas the overall rainfall has increased by 28 per cent," said, Deputy Director-General of Meteorology, Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), Chennai.    

2024 was another year of record-breaking temperatures, driving the global water cycle to new climate extremes and contributing to ferocious floods and crippling droughts, a new report led by The Australian National University (ANU) shows.  The Atlantic hurricane season started early, external, and with a record-breaking bang. At the end of June, Beryl became the first major hurricane of the 2024 season. It swept through the Caribbean before making landfall on the Gulf coast of the US. It was the earliest Category 5 hurricane to form in recorded history.  

In early May, days of heavy rain brought severe flooding and mudslides to Rio Grande do Sul in southern Brazil leading to the collapse of a hydroelectric dam. Almost half the average annual rainfall for the area fell in just over a week. However, in other parts of Brazil the story was very different.  Earlier, in  April the United Arab Emirates also received almost a year's rainfall, this time in 24 hours. Roads were submerged in Dubai, at least one metro station was ankle-deep in water and flights from the international airport were grounded.

At the same time a deadly heatwave took hold across West Africa and the Sahel region of the continent, which scientists said would have been "impossible" without human-induced climate change. Namibia declared a state of emergency in May as the country grappled with its worst drought in a century. The Government planned to kill wild animals and distribute the meat to those people who had no food. It was one of several countries across southern Africa struggling with devastating drought driven by El Niño.  By contrast later in the year, seasonal rains across Africa were displaced much further north bringing flooding to the Sahara for the first time in half a century.  No rain /weather report this !  

இந்த வருஷம்   சென்னையில் நல்ல மழை பெய்ந்துள்ளது  - இப்படி மார்கழி மாதத்தில் மழை பெய்யுமா என்ற ஒரு ஐயம் நம் மனதிலே உள்ளது !! மழை காலம் ஒரு இனிய காலம். மரங்களிலும், செடிகளிலும் தளிர் இலைகள் முளைக்கும். வர்ஷா காலத்தில் எல்லாவிடங்களும் ஒரு நீர்க்கோப்பாகும்படி மழைபெய்து வழியெல்லாம் தூறாகி ஸஞ்சாரத்திற்கு அயோக்யமாயிருக்குமாதலால்  அரசர்களும் தத்தம் பகைவரிடத்துள்ள பகையையும் மறந்து, சேனைகளைத் திரட்டிக் கொண்டு போர்புரியப் புறப்படுவதைத் தவிர்ப்பாராம். இன்றைய 'work from home' போல,  இக்காலங்களில், மன்னர்களும் வீரர்களும் தந்தம் குடும்பத்தினருடன் ஆனந்தமாக பொழுதினை கழிப்பனராம்.      சிங்கங்களும் அக்காலத்தில் பர்வத குகைகளில்  கிடந்துறங்குமாம்.  அவை அப்படி உறங்கி பொழுது கழிக்கும் பொது  அவற்றின் குகை வாசலில் களிறுகள் வந்தடைந்து பிளிறினாலும் அவ்வொலி செவிப்படாதவாறாகவே அவை கிடந்துறங்கும்’ மாரிகாலங் கழிந்தவாறே அவை உறக்கத்தை விட்டெழுந்து, ‘நம் எல்லைக்குள் புகுந்தாரார்? எனச்சீறி நோக்குவதுபோற் கண்களில் நெருப்புப் பொறி பறக்கும்படி விழித்து நாற்புறமும் நோக்கி, உளைமயிர்கள் சிலம்பு மாறு சுற்றும் அசைந்து, உறங்கும்போது அவயவங்களை முடக்கிக்கொண்டு கிடந்தமை யாலுண்டான திமிர்ப்பு தீரும்படி அவயவங்களைத் முறுக்கேறி கிளம்பினாற்போலே நம் எம்பெருமான் வெளிப்பட்டதாக கோதை பிராட்டி தம் திருப்பாவை பாசுரத்திலே உரைக்கின்றார். 

Lions are the second-largest cats in the world, after tigers. Known as the "king of beasts" or "king of the jungle," these regal felines once roamed Africa, Asia and Europe, but now only live in parts of Africa and India.  Experts have long recognized two subspecies of lion, Panthera leo leo (the African lion) and Panthera leo persica (the Asiatic lion).  Lions have strong, compact bodies and powerful forelegs, teeth and jaws for pulling down and killing prey. Their coats are yellow-gold, and adult males have shaggy manes that range in color from blond to reddish-brown to black. The length and color of a lion's mane is likely determined by age, genetics and hormones. Young lions have light spotting on their coats that disappears as they grow. Without their coats, lion and tiger bodies are so similar that only experts can tell them apart.

சிங்கம் பிறக்கும்போதே “மருகேந்திரன்” என்றும் “ம்ருகராஜன்” என்றும் சிறப்புப் பெயரைப் பெறுதல் பற்றிச் சீரியசிங்கமெனப்பட்டது. கண்ணபிரானும் நரஸிம்ஹாவதாரத்திலே போற்றப்பட்டதாக  சிலபாகஞ் சிங்கமாயும் சிலபாகம் மானிடமாயுமிருக்கையன்றியே “சிற்றாயர் சிங்கம்” “யசோதையிளஞ்சிங்கம்” என்றபடி பூர்ண ஸிம்ஹமாயிருத்தலால், சீரிய எனும் அடைமொழி இவனுக்கு ஒக்குமென்க. மாரி மலை முழைஞ்சில் மன்னிக் கிடந்து உறங்கும்

சீரிய சிங்கம் அறிவுற்றுத் தீ விழித்து

வேரி மயிர் பொங்க எப்பாடும் பேர்ந்து உதறி

மூரி நிமிர்ந்து முழங்கிப் புறப்பட்டுப்

போதருமா போலே நீ பூவைப்பூ வண்ணா உன்

கோயில் நின்று இங்ஙனே போந்தருளி கோப்பு உடைய

சீரிய சிங்காசனத்து இருந்து யாம் வந்த

காரியம் ஆராய்ந்து அருள்-ஏலோர் எம்பாவாய் ! 

மழைகாலத்தில் மலையிலுள்ள குகைகளில் தனது பேடையுடன் உறங்கின  சீர்மையையுடைய சிங்கமானது, உணர்ந்தெழுந்து, நெருப்புப்பொறி பறக்கும்படி கண்களை விழித்து, தனது பிடரி சிலிர்த்து, உடம்பை உதறி - ஏனைய மிருகங்கள் நடுங்க, நாற்புறங்களிலும் புடைபெயர்ந்து  தனது சரீரத்தை  உதறி, சோம்பல் முறித்து, கர்ஜனை பண்ணி வெளிப்புறப்பட்டு வருவது போல, பூவை பூ வண்ணனான எம்பெருமான் ஸ்ரீமன் நாரணன்  தனிஉடைய திருக்கோயிலினின்றும் எழுந்தருளி இவ்விடத்திலே  எழுந்தருளி கோப்பு உடைய அழகிய ஸந்நிவேசத்தையுடைய  சீரிய லோகோத்தரமான சிங்காசனத்து எழுந்தருளியிருந்து  நாங்கள் மநோரதித்துக் கொண்டு வந்த காரியத்தை ஆராய்ந்து கிருபை செய்ய வேணும்’ என கோதை பிராட்டி எம்பெருமானிடத்திலே  பிரார்த்திக்கின்றார்.
