The other
day at Mumbai Airport about to get into a plane, observed that the cockpit was
kept covered with a popular Tamil daily ! to beat the heat !! .. .. most
probably you would have peeped into the cockpit of any plane and would have
wondered the instrumentation .. ..
baffling to say the least - an array of switches, information screens, and
more. Read elsewhere that while Airbus
aircraft feature a side stick, Boeing planes come with a yoke to steer the aircraft. A yoke
in an aircraft is a control wheel, a
device used for piloting. The pilot uses the yoke to control the attitude of
the plane, usually in both pitch and roll. When the yoke is pulled back the nose of the
aircraft rises. When the yoke is pushed forward the nose is lowered.
This is no
post on Aircraft .. .. we have all seen yoke, simply a wooden beam normally used between a pair of
oxen or other animals to enable them to pull together on a load when working in
pairs, as oxen usually do; some yokes are fitted to individual animals. .. something on Andal Nachiyar’s reference to yoke !

Srivaishnavaites, the month of Aadi
assumes special significance for on this month was born the female saintess
Azhwar Andal. Godadevi was born at Srivilliputhur in the Tamil month Adi, with the birth-star
Pooram, which is celebrated as ‘Thiruvadippuram’. A great day today (24th July 2020) ~ the concluding
day of Andal Uthsavam – Thiruvadipuram.
Every
year on this day, in the evening @
Thiruvallikkeni divaydesam, it would be a
grand purappadu of Sri Andal with Sri Parthasarathi in eka asanam ~ same
kedayam. This year there would be no purappadu for the Temple is out of bounds
for devotees since 20.3.2020. How long
will this continue ! ~ would HRCE or the
Temple authorities taking any proactive action on this ? – why not have
purappadu inside Temple with very limited people. All types of shops are open, people are out
on the streets in every other chores, why should the Temples alone remain
closed ! Sad – is it not the duty of those who officially manage the Temples to
plan for the devotees.

மல்லி நாட்டை ஆளும்,
மட மயில் போன்ற மென்மைத் தன்மை உடைய இவள், இடைக்குல வேந்தன் கண்ணனின் திருமேனிக்குப்
பொருந்தினாள். ஸ்ரீவில்லிபுத்தூர் வேதியர் பெரியாழ்வாரின் பெண்ணாய் திருவிளக்குப் போல்
விளங்கினாள். ஆண்டாள் அவதரித்த ஊர் ஸ்ரீவில்லிபுத்தூர். இப்பாசுரத்தில் 'மல்லி நாடு' எனப்படுவது அக்காலத்தில்
ஸ்ரீவில்லிபுத்தூரை உள்ளடக்கிய ஒரு பெரிய ஊராக திகழ்ந்து, காலப்போக்கில் மாறி இருக்கலாம். வட பத்ரசயனர் கோவில் கல்வெட்டில் ஸ்ரீவில்லிபுத்தூரின் பெயர் 'மல்லிப்புத்தூர்' என்று குறிப்பிடப்பட்டுள்ளது. 'மல்லி நாடாண்ட மடமயில்' 'மருவாரும் திருமல்லி
வளநாடு' எனும் சொற்றொடர்கள் மல்லி என்ற பிரதேசத்தினை விளக்குகின்றன.

பெரியாழ்வார் பெண்பிள்ளையாய்,நந்தவனத்தில்,
துளசி மலரில் பூமிப்பிராட்டி அம்சமாய் தோன்றிய கோதைப் பிராட்டியின் பக்தி அளவிட முடியாதது.
நம் பொய்யில்லா மணவாளமாமுனிவன், தமது 'உபதேசரத்தின
மாலையில்' திருவாடிப்பூர திருநக்ஷத்திரத்தில் பூமிப்பிராட்டி ஸ்ரீவைகுண்டத்தில் உள்ள
உயர்ந்த அனுபவத்தை விட்டுவிட்டு பெரியாழ்வாருக்கு திருமகளாக இந்த உலகத்தில் நாம் உஜ்ஜீவிப்பதற்கு
அவதரித்தருளினதை, அழகிய ஆடி மாதத்தின் பூர
நக்ஷத்திரத்தின் வைபவம் வேறொரு தினத்துக்கு

பக்தி நம்மை மேலும் உன்னத பரிபூர்ண நிலைக்கு, பக்தி பரிமாணத்தில் வேறொரு உலகத்துக்கு,
நாம் இதுவரை கண்டிராத உயரத்திற்க்கு அழைத்துச் செல்லும்.
Sri Andal was totally
immersed in bakthi towards Sriman Narayana.
In her Nachiyar Thirumozhi she describes her devotion to the Lord
having the white conch, wearing beautiful yellow silken robes, having
tresses on shoulders hovering like bees over His lotus face, the Lord of
immense compassion been worshipped at Vrindavan [Brindavan nearer Mathura,
where Krishna grew up !] The imposing
gopuram of Sri Villiputhur Temple is the State emblem.

அறிந்ததே ! ஆண்டாள் தினமும் மூன்று காலங்களிலும் ப்ரணாமபூர்வமாக ஸ்ரீமந்நாராயணனையே ஆச்ரயித்து, அவரது பாத கமலங்களில், பரிசுத்தமான புஷ்பங்களைப் கொண்டு ஸேவித்து ஸ்தோத்திரம்செய்து
வந்தாள். பூமியைச் சூழ்ந்த கடல் போன்ற திருநிறத்தையுடைய
கண்ணபிரானுக்கே குற்றமொன்றுமில்லாமல் கைங்கரியம் பண்ணி வாழப் பெறாவிடில், தான் பலகாலும்
அழுது அழுது, தடுமாறி, ‘அம்மா!’ என்று கதறிக் கொண்டு திரியுமாறு திரிய
தன்னைத் துடிக்கவிடுவது கூடாது ! அப்படி உபேஷிப்பது ஏருழுகின்ற ஒரு எருதை நுகத்தடியால் தள்ளி, தீனியில்லாமல்
ஒட்டிவிடுவதைப் போலாம் என எம்பெருமானிடத்தில் விண்ணப்பித்து தன்னை ரக்ஷித்து சேர்த்துக்கொள்ளுமாறு
நெக்குறுகி வேண்டும் பாசுரம் இது.
Let us
fall at the lotus feet of Sriman Narayana singing the verses of Andal – which
will ensure all goodness and prosperity. He is our only Saviour who can ensure our

magnificent temple of Andal Nachiyar, the place is famous for palkova, a delicacy made of milk. The renowned Srivilliputhur palkova has
bagged the Geographical Indication (GI) tag bringing much cheer to its makers
who say it will go a long way to sweeten their lives. Tourists who come to
Srivilliputhur for would sure buy in
kilograms the sweetened curdled milk, with its own ghee giving it a sheen – the
delivious “Srivilliputhur Palkova”. President
of Srivilliputhur Co-operative Primary Milk Producers Society says the society,
established in 1945, has been churning out the famous palkova right from day
one. It is the milk that the cows in their region produce that gives the
quality and taste to the product.
