Purattasi Revathi 2025 - பச்சைமா மலைபோல்மேனி

Today is Tuesday 7.10.2025 - REvathi nakshathiram in the month of Purattasi – siriya mada veethi purappadu of Sri Ranganathar.

The great saint by name Vipra Narayanar, born at Thirumandangudi was known as Bhaktanghri renu later came to be hailed as ‘Thondaradippodi Alvar’ due to his devotion to the devotees of Lord. Thondaradipodi alwar rendered 55 verses in praise of Lord Ranganatha - 10 verses of Thirupalli Yezhuchi and 45 verses of Thiru Maalai. Thirupalliyezhuchi is recited in every temple to wake up the Lord and rendered during kalasanthi in the morning.

In this material World, life is all about chasing dreams. Many people feel as if they're adrift in the world. They work hard, but they don't seem to get anywhere worthwhile. According to Western theories, the key reason that they feel this way is that they haven't spent enough time thinking about what they want from life, and haven't set themselves smart goals. After all, would you set out on a major journey with no real idea of your destination? Probably not! Of all the things people indicated they want more of, not necessarily in the same order : Happiness; Money; Freedom; Peace; Joy; Balance; Fulfillment; Confidence, Education, Achievements; Cars, Travel, Fame .. .. and Health !!

Life is driven by desire !! - Desires are states of mind that are expressed by terms like "wanting", "wishing", "longing" or "craving". A great variety of features is commonly associated with desires. They are seen as propositional attitudes towards conceivable states of affairs. They aim to change the world by representing how the world should be, unlike beliefs, which aim to represent how the world actually is. Desires are closely related to agency: they motivate the agent to realize them. Their fulfillment is normally experienced as pleasurable in contrast to the negative experience of failing to do so. Conscious desires are usually accompanied by some form of emotional response.

But – in life, desires, goals, satisfaction measures and more could change with phases in life and can be determined by so many variants. Covid 19 changed the lives of many and the thinking of almost every one. The impact of the turning tides of the pandemic can be clearly seen in the way the Aspiration Index has moved. Highest number of people picked Health as their most important aspiration. However, as people deal with losses from the pandemic, emotional helplessness is at the forefront and more importance has been given to Relationship goals. The top two goals are Relationship goals: To save & invest money for children’s education and to have long-lasting friendship. While Wealth is a less important aspiration, housing remains the third more important goal.

Aspirations refer to people’s life goals, and research on aspirations has focused on the relative strength of intrinsic aspirations (viz., meaningful relationships, personal growth, and community contributions) versus extrinsic aspirations (viz., wealth, fame, and image). The Aspiration Index was developed to assess people’s aspirations. There are 7 categories of aspirations with five specific items within each category. The seven categories include: the extrinsic aspirations of wealth, fame, and image; the intrinsic aspirations of meaningful relationships, personal growth, and community contributions; and the aspiration of good health which turned out not to be clearly either extrinsic or intrinsic. Various approaches to data analyses can be found in research articles such as Kasser and Ryan (1996).

சிறுவயதில் திருமால் பெருமை என்ற படத்தில் பாடலாக கேட்ட பாசுரம் "பச்சை மாமலை போல் மேனி" எனும் திருவரங்கநாதனின் பெருமை பேசும் தொண்டரடிப்பொடிகளின் பாசுரம்.

பசுமை நீலம் கருமை என்ற நிறங்களை அபேதமாகக் கூறுவது கவிமரபாதலால் எம்பெருமானுடைய காளமேகத் திருவுருவத்திற்குப் பச்சைமாமலையை என உவமை கூறினார் நம் ஆழ்வார். . ஸாதாரண மலையானது எம்பெருமானுடைய துளக்கலாகா நிலைக்கும் வளர்த்திக்கும் ஒப்பாகுமேயன்றி, காணப்புக்கவர்களின் கண்ணையும் நெஞ்சையும் குளிர்வித்து அவர்களுடைய ஸம்ஸார தாபங்களையெல்லாம் போக்குந்தன்மையும் எப்போதும் தியாநஞ்செய்தற்கு உரியதாய் இருத்தலும் பெருங்கருணைக்கு இருப்பிடமாய் இருத்தலும் முதலிய குணவிசேஷங்களில் ஒப்பாக மாட்டாமையால் ‘பச்சை மா’ என்ற அடைமொழி மலைக்குக் கொடுக்கப்பட்டது என்பது நம் கச்சி ஸ்வாமியின் அற்புத உரை. இப்பாசுரத்திலே ஆழ்வார் - எம்பெருமானை, 'அச்யுதா" என விளிக்கிறார் . ‘அச்யுதன்’ என்னும் திருநாமம்-தான் என்றும் நழுவாதவன் என்றும், தன் அடிபணிந்தோரை என்றென்றும் ) நழுவவிடாமல் காப்பாற்றுபவன் என்றும் பொருள்படும்.

In his famed “Thirumaalai”, Thondaradipodi Azhwar hails the Lord of Thiruvarangam - இதோ இங்கே திருமாலை திவ்யப்ரபந்தத்தில் தொண்டரடிப்பொடிகள் தம் பாசுரம்:

பச்சைமா மலைபோல்மேனி பவளவாய் கமலச் செங்கண்

அச்சுதா அமர ரேறே ஆயர்தம் கொழுந்தே என்னும்

இச்சுவை தவிர யான்போய் இந்திர லோக மாளும்

அச்சுவை பெறினும் வேண்டேன் அரங்கமா நகருளானே.

ஆழ்வாரின் மனதுக்கு இனியான் நம்பெருமாளை : - அரங்கமா நகருளானே! ; பசுமை நிறமுள்ள பெரிய மலை போன்ற திருமேனியையும் பவளம் போன்ற சிவந்த திருவாயையும் செந்தாமரை மலர்போன்ற திருக்கண்களையுமுடைய அச்சுதனே! நித்யஸுரிகளுக்குத் தலைவனே! இடையர் குலத்தில் தோன்றிய இளங்குமாரனே என்றெல்லாம் எனது வாயினாற் சொல்லுவதனால், அடியேனுக்கு உண்டாகின்ற இந்த அநுபவ ருசியை விட்டுவிடும்படி, யான் (இவ்வுலகத்தினின்றும் நீங்கிப் பரமபதத்திற்குச்) சென்று அங்கே இந்திரலோகத்தை ஆளுகின்ற உயர்பதிவியாம், அந்த அநுபவருசியை அடைவதாயிருந்தாலும், அதனையும் விரும்பமாட்டேன். அரங்கநாதனின் திருவடி தாள் பணிந்து அவரது திருநாமங்களை பாடி, கைங்கர்யம் செய்யும் பலன் தான் வேண்டும் என்று வேண்டுகிறார்.
