Mangala isai at Thirukovilgal - Sri Madhava Perumal Pagalpathu 6 - 2022

We go to Temples, worship Emperuman, forget our worries and are blissfully happy…  .. in the midst of festivity in any Temple, there is something unmistakably heard .. .. .. that makes you happy !  - the sound of music – not only that of Temple bells – more of Mangala Isai – Nadaswaram & Thavil. 

முக்கிய முன் குறிப்பு :  பாட்டறியேன் - ராகம் அறியேன் ! கர்நாடக சங்கீதம் நான் அறியேன் (இதில் ஒன்றும் பெருமை இல்லை என்பது மட்டும் அறிவேன்).. .. .. தமிழில் பண்கள் என்பது கர்நாடக சங்கீதத்தில் இராகங்கள் என அழைகப்படுகிறது.   72 - மேளகர்த்தா இராகங்கள் தான் அடிப்படை.  இராகம், ஒரு பாட்டை எவ்வாறு உருவாக்கலாம் என்று காட்டும் விதிகளை விளக்குகிறது. இசை மேலே செல்லும்போதும் ஆரோகணத்தில் கீழே செல்லும்போதும் (அவரோகணத்தில் )- எந்த ஸ்வரங்களை  வரிசையில் பயன்படுத்தலாம் என்று குறிப்பிடுகிறது.   ஏழு ஸ்வரங்களையும் கொண்டுள்ள ராகங்கள் சம்பூர்ண ராகங்கள்  என் போன்ற ஞான சூனியங்களுக்கு - இராகங்களின் பெயர்களே புரிபடாது -  இணையத்தில் தேடினால் : அம்ருதவாகினி,  அம்ருதவர்ஷினி, அசாவேரி, அடாணா, ஆபேரி, ஆபோகி  தன்யாசி, தர்பார்,  தேவகாந்தாரி, என - .. வாசிப்பை கேட்டு அது எந்த ராகம் என்பது .. .. .. !!!   - எனினும் சங்கீதம் கேட்க கேட்க ஆனந்தத்தை தருகிறது.  அதுவும் திருக்கோவில்களில் வாசிக்கப்படும் நாதஸ்வரம் மனதை மயக்குகிறது.

ஆனந்தம்  என்ற பெயர்ச்சொல்லுக்கு  உண்மையான அர்த்தம் என்ன ?  -  நாம் ஒரு பொருளை ரசித்து அனுபவிக்கும்போது ஆனந்தம் அடைகிறோம். சிலருக்கு தூக்கம் கூட ஆனந்தத்தை தர வல்லது. .. ..  அருள் கொண்டாடும்  அடியவனான ஸ்ரீவைணவனுக்கு யாது சந்தோஷத்தை தர வல்லது? நம் அனைவருக்கும் "எம்பெருமானுடைய க்ருபைக்கு மேற்பட்ட  க்ருபை உலகில் வேறு  ஏதேனும் உண்டோ ?"

Maslow's hierarchy of needs is a theory in psychology proposed by Abraham Maslow in his 1943 paper "A Theory of Human Motivation" in Psychological Review. Maslow subsequently extended the idea to include his observations of humans' innate curiosity. His theories parallel many other theories of human developmental psychology, some of which focus on describing the stages of growth in humans. Maslow's hierarchy of needs is used to study how humans intrinsically partake in behavioral motivation. Maslow used the terms "physiological", "safety", "belonging and love", "social needs" or "esteem", and "self-actualization" to describe the pattern through which human motivations generally move. This means that in order for motivation to arise at the next stage, each stage must be satisfied within the individual themselves. 

There will be umpteen theories in Western World – to us happiness is associating everything with our Lord and being contented. The term happiness is used in the context of mental or emotional states, including positive or pleasant emotions ranging from contentment to intense joy. It is also used in the context of life satisfaction, subjective well-being,  flourishing and well-being.  For many decades now,  happiness research has been conducted in a wide variety of scientific disciplines ! ~ in our philosophy, to be happy simply be detached to Worldly virtues and .. .. be attached to the lotus feet of our Emperuman Sriman Narayana. 

திருக்கோவிலில் எழுந்தருளி இருக்கும் எம்பெருமானுக்காக நாதஸ்வர வித்துவான்கள், தவில் வசிப்பவர்கள் - பக்தி  பரவசத்துடன், தங்களை அர்ப்பணித்து சேவை புரிகின்றனர்.  நித்தியகால பூஜையில் வாசிக்கப்படும் மங்கல இசை மக்களுக்காக அல்ல !  இறைவனுக்காக !!

மங்கலம் என்ற சொல் ஆக்கம், பொலிவு, நற்செயல், திருமணம், அறம், வாழ்த்து, சுபம் போன்ற பொருள்களில் கையாளப்படுகிறது.   மேளக் குழுவின் முதன்மைக் கருவியாக நாகசுரம் விளங்குகிறது. இது ஒரு குழல் கருவியாகும். இதனைப் பெரு வங்கியம் என்றும், நாகசுரம் என்றும், நாயனம் என்றும் அழைப்பர். வங்கியம் என்பதனை இசைக்குழல் என்று நிகண்டு குறிப்பிடுகிறது.  தொடக்கத்தில் நாகசுரம் என்று வழக்கிலிருந்த இந்த இசைக் கருவி, பின்னர் நாதசுவரம் என வழங்கப்பட்டது. இதுவே சரியான வடிவம் என்னும் எண்ணத்தில் எல்லோரும் சொல்ல ஆரம்பித்து, இப்போது நாதசுவரமாகவே நிலைத்து விட்டது  !!  சரிதானா !!!  

நாதஸ்வரக் கச்சேரிகளில்  ஸ்ருதி ஸப்தம் வந்த பிறகு முதலில் தொடங்குவது தவில் வாத்யம்தான். பிறகு தாள ஸப்தம். அதன் பிறகே நாதஸ்வரம் வாசிக்க ஆரம்பிப்பார்கள்.   ஸ்வாமிக்குக் கோவில்களில் பூஜையின்போதும் ஸ்வாமி புறப்பாட்டின்போதும் இறைவனோடு ஒன்றிய வாத்யம் நாதஸ்வரமும் தவிலும்தான். சுபகாரியங்கள் எதுவானாலும் அதற்கு முதலிடம் இந்த மங்கள வாத்யங்கள்தான்.   

ஆச்சாமரத்தில்தான் நாதஸ்வரம் உருவாக்கப்படுகிறதாம்.    கீழே மரத்தால் நீண்டு காணப்படும் வடிவத்திற்கு “அணசு” என்று பெயர். இது ரோஸ்வுட் அல்லது வாகை மரத்தில்  செய்யப்படுகிறது.  “சீவாளி”  என்ற நாணத்தட்டையால் செய்யப்பட்டதைப் பொருத்தி வாயால் ஊதி  இதை இசைக்கிறார்கள்.    திருவாவடுதுறை, திருவாலங்காடு போன்ற இடங்களில் நாணத்தட்டை பயிரிடப்பட்டு அதைப் பக்குவம்செய்து ஸ்ருதி எத்தனை கட்டையோ அதற்கு ஏற்றாற்போல் சீவாளி செய்யும் வல்லுனர்கள் உள்ளார்கள்.

PS:  the untold part is – temples are out of bounds for devotees on Fri, Sat, Sun and there was none to even hear when this vidwan was performing.  It is the spirit of all ‘kainkaryam’ – done for Emperuman – one would not care whether someone is there to listen or not !! -
