Aippaisi Revathi - Super full Moon 2025

 

Today is Aippaisi Revathi – at Thiruvallikkeni Sri Ranganathar had siriya mada veethi purappadu – though dark clouds loomed – there was no rain !!

 

Tomorrow, Nov  5, the Super full moon, the biggest and brightest of the year, will come closest to the Earth in its orbit. Its attraction is therefore tenfold, and with it, our feelings and sensations.  The path the Moon takes as it orbits our planet is not quite a perfect circle. Sometimes the Moon is a little closer to Earth, and appears slightly larger, than average. Sometimes it's a little farther away, and appears slightly smaller. 

A “supermoon” occurs when a full Moon coincides with the Moon’s closest approach to Earth in its elliptical orbit, a point known as perigee. During every 27-day orbit around Earth, the Moon reaches both its perigee, about 226,000 miles (363,300 km) from Earth, and its farthest point, or apogee, about 251,000 miles (405,500 km) from Earth. 

பெரியாழ்வார் திருமொழி ஓர் அற்புத காவியம் -  எம்பெருமான் ஸ்ரீகிருஷ்ணனாக வடமதுரையில் பிறந்து, அன்றிரவே  திருவாய்ப்பாடியில் நந்தகோபர் திருமாளிகைக்கு எழுந்தருளி, வளர்ந்த பருவங்களை மிக ஆர்வத்துடன் விவரிக்கின்றார் விஷ்ணு சித்தன்.  சந்திரா! எனது குழந்தையாகிய இக்கோபாலகிருஷ்ணன் தனது நெற்றியிலே சுட்டி அசையவும்  அரையிலே சதங்கை கிண்கிண் என்று சப்திக்கவும் தவழ்ந்துவந்து புழுதியளைகின்ற  விளையாட்டைக் காண் -   என்று யசோதைப்பிராட்டி  வானில் இருக்கும் சந்திரனை அழைக்கிறாள்.  இதோ இங்கே ஒரு பாசுரம் :

 

சுற்றும் ஒளிவட்டம் சூழ்ந்து சோதி பரந்தெங்கும்

எத்தனை செய்யிலும் என்மகன் முகம் நேரொவ்வாய்

வித்தகன் வேங்கட வாணன் உன்னை விளிக்கின்ற

கைத்தலம் நோவாமே அம்புலீ  கடி தோடிவா.

 

“மாமதி!  மகிழ்ந்தோடிவா’’ என்று அழைத்தும் சந்திரன் ஓடிவரவில்லை எனவே - ‘அழகில் தன்னோடொப்பார் ஒருவருமில்லை’ என்கிற கர்வத்தினால் இவன் வரவில்லை  என்று கொண்டு அந்தச் செருக்கு அடங்கப் பேசுகிறாள்.  சந்திரா! நீ இப்போது  நாள்தோறும் தேய்வதும் வளர்வதுமாய் இருக்கின்றாய்; களங்கமுடையனாயும் இருக்கின்றாய்; நீ என்ன செயற்கை அழகு செய்துகொண்டு விளங்கினாலும் என் குழந்தையினுடைய முகத்திற்குச் சிறிதும் ஒப்பாக மாட்டாய்.  ஆகையாலே நாமே அழகிற் சிறந்துள்ளோம் என்கிற செருக்கை ஒழித்து உன்னைக் காட்டிலும் மிக அழகிய முகமண்டலத்தை உடையவனான இவன் உன்னைக் கைகளால் அழைப்பதைப் பரம பாக்யமாக அநுஸந்தித்து விரைந்து ஓடிவா;  என்கிறார் ஆழ்வார். அம்புலி என்பது சந்திரனின் மற்றோரு பெயர். 

For centuries, people have believed that full moons disturb sleep — Science now shows they might be right, though your smartphone is still the bigger culprit.  A 2013 study found participants slept 20 minutes less and had lower deep-sleep activity during full moons, even though they didn’t know what was being tested.  Researchers also noted reduced melatonin — the hormone that signals it’s time to rest — suggesting that moonlight may subtly delay sleep.

 

இன்று ஐப்பசியில் ரேவதி திருநக்ஷத்திரம்.  திருவல்லிக்கேணி திவ்யதேசத்தில் ஸ்ரீரங்கநாதர் சிறிய மாட வீதி புறப்பாடு கண்டருளினார்.  மழை மேகங்கள் கறுத்து திரண்டு வந்த போதிலும் மழை பொழியவில்லை.  திருவந்திக்காப்பு சமயம் அரங்கனின் பின்,  தலை மேல் தெரிந்த நிலா - ஒரு படத்தில்  நிலா எம்பெருமானின் கேடயத்திற்குள் !!
