Lily (alli) flowers and Kairavini pushkarini

 அல்லி அல்லது ஆம்பல் என்பது நீரில் வளரும் ஒரு கொடியும் அதில் பூக்கும் மலரின் பெயரும் ஆகும். 

Lily is a feminine given name derived from lily, the flower. The name became particularly popular along with other flower names for girls during the 1800s and early 1900s.  Lilium is a genus of herbaceous flowering plants growing from bulbs, all with large prominent flowers. 

Thiruvallikkeni got its name from Kairavini pushkarini (the temple tank of Sri Parthasarathi) that had abundance of Lily (alli) flowers .. .. .. and according to  sthala PUranam, there would be no fish in this  holy tank.
