Thiru Kulasekara Azhwar Sarrumurai 2018

Bharathappuzha ("River of Bhārata"), also known as the River Nila, is a river in Kerala. With a length of 209 km, it is the second-longest river in Kerala, after the Periyar River. The word "Nila" indicates the culture more than just a river.

On the banks of the river lies this beautiful divyadesam  - the divyadesa Emperuman is ‘Abhya Prathan’ ~ the one who protects His devotees – one who appeared for Ambareekshan, who was a great baktha. Ambareesha was extremely devoted, did penance and gave 60 cows after Ekadasi and attained moksham here. Kulasekarar has sung 10 pasurams on this divyadesam.  The divyadesam Vithuvakkodu, sung by Alwar  is nearer Shoranoor on the Kallikottai route.  By train one has to get down at Pattambi Station.  By road, from Pallakad, Ottapalem – Kulapulli – IOC petrol bunk – Cheruthuruty, Desamangalam – this divyadesam is locally known at Mittakudi ~ Thirumittakode [Thiruvithuvakodu in the words of Alwar].  Many temples in Kerala have significance attached with Pandavas.  Legend has it that Pandavas spent sometime here – Sriman Narayana idol was installed by Arjuna, the one in the middle  by Dharmar, on Southern side by mighty Bhima and by Nakula Sakadevar.  The temple was later built by a Pandiya king.  The entrance is somewhat different as it is partly closed.  There is shrine of Mahadeva too in a prime place.

Today,  26^th Feb 2018   - is ‘Punarvasu (punarpoosam) nakshathiram’ in the month of ‘Maasi’ – the Thiruavathara thirunaal of Sri Kulasekhara Azhwaar.  He was the amsam of ‘kausthubam’ – the jewel adorning Sriman Narayana.  He was born at Thiruvanjikulam as son of King Thiruviradhan and ruled the Chera Empire.  He was greatly devoted to Rama and ‘Ramayana’ and reverred Sri Vaishnavaites with devotion. Kulasekarar was born at Thiruvanjikalam.  On NH 17, few kms away on the south of Kodungallur lies Thiruvanjikulam, locally known more aptly as ‘Thiru Kulasekhara puram.’  Kodungallor can be reached from Irinjalakuda or Kochi on the Chennai- Thiruvanathapuram railway line.

His contribution in ‘Sri Naalayira Divya Prabandham’  is 105 songs titled ‘Perumal Thirumozhi’.  In the 4^th chapter – he sings about his various wishes of the forms that he would like to take for doing service to the Lord Balaji at Thirumala.  In one of these songs, he says ‘he would eternally  be waiting as the step before the Lord, as he could continuously have darshan of Lord Thiruvengadavan’ all the time.  After these beautiful words, the padi (doorstep) at Thirumalai is known as ‘Kulasekara Padi’.

                                           இன்று  ஸ்ரீவைணவர்களுக்கு சீரிய நாள்.  'மாசி புனர்வசு' - கௌஸ்துபம் அம்சமாய் தோன்றிய சேரலர் கோன்' குலசேகராழ்வார்' அவதரித்த  நந்நாள்.  குலசேகரர் சேர நாட்டில் திருவஞ்சிக்களத்தில் - திருவிரதன் என்ற மன்னனுக்கு மகனாய் அவதரித்தார். 

வைணவர்கள் மீது இவருக்கு இருந்த அபிமானம் விவரிக்க முடியாதது.  இவர் திருமால் மீது கொண்ட பக்தியால் அவரது அடியார்களுக்குத் தொண்டு செய்தே காலத்தைக் கழித்து வந்ததால்,  அவரின் மந்திரிகள் ஒரு  தவறான திட்டம் போட்டு,  குலசேகரரின் திருவாராதனப் பெருமானின் விலைமதிக்க முடியாத நவமணி மாலையை ஒளித்து வைத்துவிட்டு, அதனை யாரோ ஒரு திருமாலடியார்தான் திருடிச்சென்று விட்டார் என்று அவரிடம் சொல்லினர். திருமாலடியார்கள் ஒரு போதும் இழிச்செயல் செய்யார்  என, நச்சு பாம்புகள் நிறைந்த குடத்தில் கையிட்டு நிலை நாட்டினவர்  இவர்.

ஆழ்வாரின்  பக்தி அபரிமிதமானது.  ஸ்ரீராமாயண உபன்யாசம் கேட்கும் போது, ஸ்ரீராமபிரான் போரிட செல்கிறான் எனக்கேட்டவுடன், குலசேகரன் தன்னை முற்றிலும் மறந்து, ராமபிரானுக்கு உதவ தன் சேனையுடன் ஆயத்தமானார் ! பின்பு சக்கரவர்த்தி திருமகன் தானாகவே கரன், தூஷணன் போன்ற அரக்கர்களை அழித்ததையும், இராவணனை கொன்று பட்டாபிஷேகம் நடந்ததையும் கேட்டு ஆனந்தமுற்றார். 

திருவேங்கடமுடையான் மீது கொண்ட  அபார பக்தியினால் இவர் அருளிச்செய்தது 'பெருமாள் திருமொழி" எனும் அற்புத  பிரபந்தம் -  (105)  பாடல்கள் கொண்ட அற்புதமான களஞ்சியம். ராமகாதையை பத்துப் பாசுரங்களில் இயற்றி, திருசித்ரகூடப் பெருமானுக்கு (சிதம்பரம்) அர்ப்பணித்தார்.   "ஊனேறு செல்வத்து உடற் பிறவி யான் வேண்டேன்'என தொடங்கும் பதிகத்தில், 'திருமலை திருப்பதியில்' என்னென்னவாக எல்லாம் இருந்து திருவேங்கடவனுக்கு கைங்கர்யங்கள் செய்து வேங்கடவனையே தரிசிக்கும் பேறு பெற தமக்கு உள்ள எண்ணங்களை அழகாக 'செம்பவள வாயான் திருவேங்கடமென்னும்,எம்பெருமான் பொன்மலை மேல் ஏதேனும் ஆவேனே !" - என்கிறார்.

திருவல்லிக்கேணி திவ்யதேசத்தில்  இன்று  ஸ்ரீ பார்த்தசாரதி தவன உத்சவம் - பெருமாளுடன்  குலசேகர ஆழ்வார்  புறப்பாடு கண்டு அருளி திருமஞ்சனமும் கண்டருளினார்.

மாசி புனர்பூசம் காண்மின் இன்று மண் உலகீர் - கொல்லி நகர் கோன் குலசேகரன் பிறப்பால், நல்லவர்கள் கொண்டாடிய சீரிய நந்நாள்,இந்நாள் !! குலசேகர ஆழ்வார் வாய் மொழியான சீரார்ந்த தமிழ் மாலை வல்லவர், தீ நெறிக்கண் செல்லார் என்பது திண்ணம். 

சேரலர் கோன் செங்கமலத் திருவடிகள் வாழியே  !!
