At Thiruvallikkeni after 3 days of theppam for Sri Parthasarathi, today 13^th Mar 2024 is theppothsavam for Sri Thelliya Singar.  

திருவல்லிக்கேணி திவ்யதேசத்தில் மாசி மாதம் அம்மாவாசை முதல் தெப்போத்சவம் விமர்சையாக நடை பெறுகிறது.    முதல் மூன்று நாட்கள் ஸ்ரீ பார்த்தசாரதி; இன்று ஸ்ரீதெள்ளியசிங்கர் தெப்போத்சவம் கண்டருளினார். ஸ்ரீஅழகியசிங்கர், எங்கும் உளன் கண்ணன் என  இரணியன் தூண் புடைத்ததும் அங்கப்பொழுதே அவதரித்த சிங்கப்பிரான்.   

Morality ~ the dictionary definition is  : "principles concerning the distinction between right and wrong or good and bad", which sounds relatively straight forward. The notion of what morality constitutes however may not be as simple. Away from the Compass that shows where North pole is – there is this usage ‘moral compass’ !.   the ethical poles seem to jump around dependent on where people are, who they are, what they are doing and why they are doing what they are doing. The Poles don't seem to be in the opposite end of straight axes either.

Moral compass could mean  : a natural feeling that makes people know what is right and wrong and how they should behave.  For us staunch believers there are so many parables and instances of what constitutes right and what should be done. Simply follow the way our Acharyas lived and preached .. ..  in life it is devotion to Sriman Narayana that would steer away from all worries.  The greatest example is the legend of Prahalada.  Prahlad was born to demon   king Hiranyakashipu and his wife Kayadu. When he was  in his mother’s womb, he started hearing the greatness of Sriman Narayana through Sage Narada.  Hiranyakashipu was a tyrant who had been granted a boon that made him invincible.   He relished the fact that none could kill him. He detested other’s spiritual inclination and hence forced his subjects to chant his name. Even under such dire circumstances, Prahalada’s bakthi and devotion were unparalleled. He was attached to the lotus feet of Sriman Narayana and no attempts of threat would dissuade him.  The tyrant father  tried to poison his son, get him trampled by elephants and made various attempts to eliminate him.  .. .. .. and when Prahlada wanted – Lord presented Himself as NaRasimha at the right instant and slayed the demon king.  

ஸ்ரீ நரஸிம்ஹம்  என்றாலே சீற்றம் ~ பல இடங்களிலே ப்ரஹலாதனுக்காக கோபம் கொண்டவர்  உக்ரமூர்த்தியாக சேவை சாதிக்கிறார். திருவல்லிக்கேணி விஷயம் வேறு!  இங்கே மூலவர் யோகநிஷ்டையில் யோக நரசிம்மர்.  உத்சவர் - அற்புத அழகு மிளிரும் அழகிய சிங்கர்.   இரணியனை இருகூறாக பிளந்த உருவம் சாந்த சொரூபியாகுமா என ஐயுற வேண்டா!! இதோ நமக்கு திருமழிசைப்பிரான் அருளமுது :

இவையா பிலவாய் திறந்தெரி கான்ற*

இவையா எரிவட்டக் கண்கள் – இவையா*

எரிபொங்கிக் காட்டும் இமையோர் பெருமான்*

அரி பொங்கிக் காட்டும் அழகு. 

இமையோர் பெருமான் என நித்யஸூரிகளுக்கு நிர்வாஹகனான ஸர்வேச்வரன் குறித்து ஆழ்வார் வினவுகிறார். நெருப்பை உமிழ்ந்த பாழி போன்ற பெரியவாய்  இவையா ? ; இவையா  கொள்ளிவட்டம் போலே உருண்டு சிவந்து ஜ்வலிக்கிற திருக்கண்கள் ??  இதுவா - அக்னிபோல  கிளர்ந்து தோன்றின திருமேனி ~ இதுவா அவனது திருமேனி அழகு !!!  என்ன அற்புதம் ! நரஸிம்ஹமூர்த்தி இவ்வளவு பயங்கரமான வடிவு பெற்றிருந்தாலும் இது சத்துருக்களுக்குப் பயங்கரமேயன்றி அன்பர்கட்குப் பரம போக்யமேயாதலால் “அரிபொங்கிக் காட்டும் அழகு“ என்று அழகிலே முடிக்கப்பட்டதென்க. Sri Azhagiya Singar was exceptionally attractive – oozing beauty.  Is He not the Lord whose anger ensured that in protection of His baktha Prahalada, the powerful Hiranya was shredded by the finger nails; in His anger, His red eyes shone like hot embers, fire came through his gaping mouth, He resembled a ferocious mighty lion. What a beautiful form it was! – at Thiruvallikkeni,  He is the most beautiful Azhagiya Singar – He is always beautiful and pleasant – for His anger is only directed at those enemies of His devotees.

Chamara Kainkaryam - Thiruvallikkeni kids 2024

திருவல்லிக்கேணியில் எம்பெருமானின் திருவீதி  புறப்பாடுகள் மிக சிறப்புற நடைபெறுகின்றன.   எம்பெருமானின் ப்ரம்மோத்சவத்தில் ஆறாம் நாள்  இரவு  கம்பீரமான  யானை வாகனம். திருவல்லிக்கேணி யானை வாஹனம் அமர்ந்த நிலையில், தங்க பூச்சுடன் ஜொலிக்கும். வாகனத்தின் மீது வெண்பட்டுடுத்தி, பெருமாள் பின்பே பட்டர் அமர்ந்து சாமரம் வீசி வருவது தனி சிறப்பு. யானை வாயில் வாழை மரங்கள் வைத்து, நிஜமான களிறு ஓடி வருவதைப் போல் இருக்கும்.   

 

You would understand this better – if you are middle aged and lived in joint-family.  There were siblings, tenants and people of all kinds around you – no priorities, none gave you freedom or liberty – often there would be fights for lil things which modern day children get in abundance – yet we grew without any complaints, and still are happy !! 

Disagreements between students are one of the most frequent causes of fighting in the classroom. A range of things, such as envy, rivalry, bullying, or just a difference of opinion, and even external variables such as online bullying can be the root of classroom brawls. A study reveals that in unprovoked aggressive situations younger aggressive children, compared with the younger nonaggressive children, attributed more happiness to transgressors, more anger to victims, and less sadness to transgressors and victims. 

It is not only in schools, at homes too – be it among siblings or cousins growing together.  Disagreements among children are very common – they’re part of learning how to get along. Fighting happens when a disagreement becomes aggressive – for example, when it involves shouting or hitting. Children need to learn  to control their emotions, but pampered ones would not budge. Children’s fights often start when children see a situation as unfair, are trying to assert what they think are their rights, feel that others don’t see their perspective, or view the same situation in different ways.  The closer siblings are in age, the more they tend to fight. 

Problems are to be solved - yelling, crying, or hitting are definite problem-solving no-nos. Ask them to come up with ideas, and then let them try it out. You might be surprised at their solutions, and they may know what works best. 

Perhaps I moved away much  - at Thiruvallikkeni divyadesam, there are ample opportunities to do kainkaryam – to serve the Lord with dedication.   One’s amazement would never cease at the age of the people and their commitment.  There are Octogenarians, and there are kids aged 5,6,7 or .. .. and they are different  - respects to their parents !

 

Parents involve kids and inculcate them the right frame of mind to come to Temple and do kainkaryam – often the kainkaryam starts with ‘Chamaram’ – that of making Emperuman cool with our acts.  Little kids vie, compete with each other and cry too, wanting to have their time, their opportunity to do this – the adorable part is, they do it for sometime while providing every other kid equal opportunity.  Here are couple of kids offering samaram kainkaryam (this is not illustrative, I have not captured them all) – Triplicane is a true Punniya boomi and it amazes bakths no ends.  

 

சாமரம் அல்லது சவுரி என்பது  தெய்வங்கள் மற்றும் அரசர்களுக்கு  மரியாதைப் பொருளாக வீசப்படும் விசிறி ஆகும். இது இதமான சூழலை ஏற்படுத்த வீசப்படுகின்றது. இது கவரிமானின் மயிரில் இருந்து தயாரிக்கப்படுகின்றது.  கோயில் வழிபாட்டில் "சோடசோபசாரம்' என்ற 16 வகையான வழிபாடுகளை ஆகமங்கள் கூறுகின்றன. அதில்,  சாமரமும் முக்கிய இடம் பெற்று விளங்குகிறது. சைவ சமய அடியார்களின் வரலாற்றான பெரியபுராணத்தை தொகுத்து எழுதிய சேக்கிழாரை இரண்டாம் குலோத்துங்க சோழனான அநபாய சோழன் தனது பட்டத்து யானை மீது ஏற்றித் தானும் அவர்பின் அமர்ந்து கவரி வீசினார். அந்நிகழ்ச்சி வேதாரண்யம் கோயிலில் ஓவியமாகத் திகழ்கிறது.  

 

குழந்தைகள் ஆரம்பிக்கும் முதல் கைங்கர்யங்களில் சாமரம் வீசுதல் முதன்மையாக இருக்கும். திருவல்லிக்கேணியில்  குழந்தைகள் போட்டி போட்டுக்கொண்டு சாமரம் கைங்கர்யம் செய்கின்றனர்.  இங்கே இரண்டொரு குழந்தைகளின் கைங்கர்யம் - இன்னமும் பலர் உள்ளனர்

வேதனை வெண்புரி நூலனை*  விண்ணோர் பரவநின்ற நாதனை 

மிகவும் உயர்ந்தவையான  வேதங்கள் வல்லோனும், சுத்தமான வெண்புரி எனும் யஜ்னோபவிதத்தை  உடையவனும், மேலுலகத்தார் துதிக்க அவர்களுக்குத் தலைவனாய் நின்றவனும் எம்பெருமானையே பிரார்த்தனை செய்து, அவனடிகளையே தொழுது உய்வோமாக !!

திருவல்லிக்கேணி திவ்யதேசத்தில் கண்ணனது திவ்யதரிசனம் காணீர்  !!

 

திருவல்லிக்கேணியில் திருக்கோயில் மிக அருகே வாழ்ந்தவர் மஹாகவி சுப்ரஹ்மண்ய பாரதியார். பாரதியாரின் கவிதைகளில் குயில் பாட்டு, கண்ணன் பாட்டு, பாஞ்சாலி சபதம் ஆகிய ‘முப்பெரும் பாடல்கள் - உண்மையான கவித்துவம் மிளிரும் படைப்புகள்.   கண்ணன் பாட்டின் சொற்கள் எளிமையானவை கூடவே - ஆழமான பொருள் உடையவை. வழிபடுபொருளாக மட்டும் இல்லாமல் கண்ணனை பல்வேறு நிலைகளில் உணர்ந்து பாடினவன் முண்டாசு கவிஞன்.  

 

கண்ணன் என் அரசன்  பதிவுல சில வரிகள் : 

சக்கரத்தை எடுப்பதொரு கணம்;

தருமம் பாரில் தழைத்தல் மறுகணம்;

இக்கணத்தில் இடைக்கண் ஒன்றுண்டோ?
