Cholasimhapuram aka Sholinghur is a beautiful divyadesam – there is Periya Malai, Chinna malai and divyadesam temple at the foothills in the town and .. .. one at Thakkankulam.
The periya malai (big hill) is about 450 feet high – a little more than 1300 steps where Moolavar Sri Yoga Narasimar is seated in a yogaasana with Salagrama Hara (necklace) and Chaturbuja (four arms). He holds Shanku (conch) and Chakram (discus) on two arms. The other two arms signify a meditative posture.
Chinnamalai one has to climb around 405 steps and have darshan of Yoga Aanjaneya. Emperuman at this divyadesam is passionately worshipped as - “Thakkan” and “Akkarakani”. NammAzhvar, PeyAzhvar and Thirumangai Azhvar have sung praises of the Kadigai Lord Narasimha. ‘Thakkan’ means the Lord is the right one to fulfil all the wishes of devotees. Akkarakani means sweet nectar.
At this divyadesam one would encounter too many monkeys especially on the path to Periya malai, which in someways would be too intimidating.

வருவது பற்றி அழகாக விளக்கியுள்ளார்.

- குளித்துத் தாம் புரண்டிட்டு ஓடித்
தரங்க நீர் அடைக்கல்
உற்ற சலம் இலா அணிலும் போலேன்
ஸ்ரீராமருக்கு பாலம்
கட்ட குரங்குகள் அணை போடக் கல்லைத் தூக்கிப்
போனதை பார்த்து எப்படி அணில்களும் கைங்கர்யத்தில் கலந்து கொண்டன என்பதன் குறிப்பு
இது.
In the Thirumalai pasuram, Thondaradipodi Azhwar tells us that hundreds of monkeys were involved in Rama kainkaryam as they pushed mighty mountains to the Ocean enabling building a path across the sea.
