Our foolishness knows no bounds ! ~ Emperuman only salvation

Going in line with the Unlock 4 guidelines of the Central government, the Tamil Nadu government has  extended the lockdown in the state till September 30.  Under Unlock 4, the state government withdrew the e-pass system for inter-district travel. All places of worship and hotels, resorts have been allowed to reopen. Moreover, malls, clubs, hotels, parks can now reopen but theatres will remain shut.    More so, the Transport corporation buses are on road carrying public !

Remember Covid has not been eradicated nor there is vaccine for Corona virus.  India's Covid-19 infection tally sprinted past 40 lakh, just 13 days after it crossed 30 lakh, with a record 86,432 cases being reported in a day, while recoveries have surged to 31,07,223 today pushing the recovery rate to 77.23 per cent, according to the Union Health Ministry.  Tamil Nadu recorded 5976 positive cases   on Friday, bringing the state tally to 4,51,827. Among these, Chennai reported 992 positive cases, bringing the city’s total to 1,39,720.

One argument often put forward by opposition and streamed in media is the economic plight of common man.  It is presented that  COVID-19 is not only a global pandemic and public health crisis; it has also severely affected the global economy and financial markets. Significant reductions in income, a rise in unemployment, and disruptions in the transportation, service, and manufacturing industries are among the consequences of the disease mitigation measures that have been implemented in many countries. It has become clear that most governments in the world underestimated the risks of rapid COVID-19 spread and were mostly reactive in their crisis response. As disease outbreaks are not likely to disappear in the near future, proactive international actions are required to not only save lives but also protect economic prosperity.

Chennai Metro Rail services, which were suspended from March 22 in view of the national lockdown imposed due to Covid-19 pandemic, will resume operations from 8 a.m on September 7, 2020, in a graded manner.  The operating time is reduced to 8am to 8pm.  In an attempt to provide more time to passengers to de-board/board the metro train while maintaining social distancing, the train stoppage time at stations has been increased from 20 seconds to 50 seconds. According to CMRL, this will also help in fresh air circulation. While waiting at the platform or travelling inside the train, passengers are advised to maintain social distancing of 6 ft. Markings like “X” has been indicated on alternate seats both in trains and platforms so that physical distancing is maintained properly and on escalators people should leave at least a step in between empty.

As of Friday, the number of active COVID-19 cases in Tamil Nadu is 51,633.  The large-scale global distribution of vaccines against COVID-19 is not expected until mid-2021, stated the  World Health Organization’s (WHO) Chief Scientist. Today a garment shop opened in Besant Road, Royapettah.  They had advertised heavily offering 10 shirts for 999 and Tshirts at throw-away prices. Despite the hype that common man has no money left and is struggling to buy a square meal, thousands started queuing before the shop and there was virtual stampede. As the shop floor had no space and crowds outside was swelling, Police had to intervene and later Authorities sealed the shop, imposing fine on the owner.

Who is to be blamed here ? : the shop owner trying to profiteer amidst people’s suffering !; the authorities who allowed ! the poor Police otherwise fully engaged yet had to intervene ! the Govt for now allowing people to act on their own ! or the people not given to understanding or under the arrogant belief that the dreaded virus will spare them ! – pathetic is the situation and shambolic is the approach of people.

In this beautiful world, our foolishness often knows no bounds ! ~ for we tend to estimate and speak of everything with the little knowledge that we possess or we think we possess – and at times that affects our beliefs too as we tend to think of Emperuman in limited terms without ever realizing how great He is and how bigger things would easily happen with his bountiful wishes.

The greatness of Lord Krishna was that He grew in the villages of Gokul and played across Vrindavan, Govardhan showing in every little gesture His capabilities – yet to His foster Mother Yasodha and others around, little was realized.  The mighty Lord capable of killing so many demons who came one after the other in trying to eliminate Him – exterminated the asuras in various forms, yet played like a normal little mortal, stealing butter and when caught was bound and tied with rope across his waist causing deep marks and scars – He acted as if He was bound by that little rope though he performed bigger valours.

Here is a pasuram from Sri Peyalwar’s moonram thiruvanthathi extolling the childhood leela of Lord Krishna, the ignorance and bliss of the ladies of Thiruvaippadi. Here are some photos of Sri Parthasarathi Perumal morning purappadu to Thavana Uthsava bungalow on 16.3.2019.
