Vaikunda Ekadasi, is a day of supreme significance for all Sri Vaishnavaites.  Today 10^th  day of Margazhi (25.12.2020)    is the all important  day....  being December do you feel cold ?  .. .. some of us might say, it is very cold in  Margazhi / December – elsewhere in Delhi –  now a cold wave has enveloped the Capital and its surrounding areas with  dense  fog and mist recording temperatures of   a minimum of 5.3 degrees Celsius  and less in nights.  There are places in globe which experience – minus degree Celsius .. ..  

At the Bhooloka Vaikundam, : Thiruvarangam Divyadesam the festivities  begin from Suklapaksha Ekadasi and celebrated for 23 days whence Namperumal listens to the vedas and Nammazhvar's Thiruvaimozhi as rendered by the Araiyars. The festival is divided into two parts, ten days before Vaikunda Ekadasi known as Pagalpathu  and  10 days from today, known as Raapathu. The Vaikunta Ekadasi festival is an occasion when the Paramapada vaasal is opened for devotees. Paramapada Vasal also colloquially  known as Sorga vaasal is the Gateway to Heaven.  

இன்று 25.12.2020 வைகுண்ட ஏகாதசி நன்னாள்.   ஸ்ரீவைஷ்ணவ உலகமே கொண்டாடும் ஓர் அற்புத நாள். இன்று முதல் பத்து நாள்கள் அனைத்து கோயில்களிலும் எம்பெருமான்,  ஸ்ரீசடகோபராகிய நம்மாழ்வார் அருளிய தமிழ் மறையாம்  திருவாய்மொழியை அனுபவித்து பத்தாம் நாள் நம்மாழ்வார் அனுபவித்த பரமபத அனுபவத்தை 'திருவடி தொழல்' எனும் நிகழ்வில் காரிமாறனை திரும்ப அளித்து நமக்கு அருள் செய்வான்.  பத்து நாட்கள் பகல் பத்து உத்சவம் முடிந்து, இன்று முதல் இராப்பத்து.  

நம் எம்பெருமான் ஸ்ரீமன் நாரணனை 'முனித்தலைவன்'  என்று கொண்டாடுகிறார் திருமங்கை மன்னன் தம் திருமொழி பாசுரத்தில்.  நெஞ்சினுள்ளே சிந்தை செய்பவதற்கு முனி யென்று பெயர்; எப்போதும் உலகங்கட்கு நன்மையைச் சிந்தை செய்பவனான தலைவன் என்றபடி. இவ்வுலகங்களெல்லாம் திருவயிற்றினுள்ளே புகம்போது உண்டாகக்கூடிய ஆரவாரத்தின் மிகுதியைச் சொல்லுகிறது  இப்பாசுரம்.  

நீரானது வெப்பநிலை குறைந்து செல்லும்போது தனது நீர்ம (திரவ) நிலையிலிருந்து திண்ம நிலைக்கு உறையும்போது தோன்றும் திண்மப் பொருளே பனி (Ice) ஆகும்.  அந்தப் பனியில் உள்ள மாசுக்களின் அளவாலும், அதன் துணிக்கைகளிடையே பிடிக்கப்பட்டுள்ள வளிமத்தின் அளவிலேயும் தங்கியிருக்கும். மண் போன்ற வேறு பொருட்களும் இதில் கலக்கும்போது, இதன் தோற்றம் மேலும் மாற்றமடையும்.   முன்னொரு காலத்தில், உலகத்தின் பல பகுதிகளும் பணியில் மூழ்கி இருந்தனவாம்.   பனிக்கட்டி என்றால் சாதாரணப் பனிக்கட்டி அல்ல. தரையிலிருந்து 3 முதல் 4 கிலோ மீட்டர் உயரத்துக்குப் பனிக்கட்டி மூடியிருந்ததாம்.  பூமியில் இப்படிச் சில பகுதிகள் பனிக்கட்டியால் மூடப்பட்டிருந்த காலத்தை பனி யுகம் என்கிறார்கள்.  

வட துருவப் பகுதியில் உள்ள கிரீன்லாந்தின் நிலப் பகுதி இப்போது 80 சதவிகித அளவுக்குப் பனிக்கட்டியால் மூடப்பட்டதாக உள்ளது. பூமியானது திடீரென்று குளிர்ந்து போனால் கிரீன்லாந்தின் பனிக்கட்டி தெற்கு நோக்கிப் பரவி பழையபடி மேலே குறிப்பிட்ட நாடுகளை எல்லாம் மூடிவிடும். அமெரிக்காவின் நியூயார்க் நகரமும் பனிக்கட்டியால் மூடப்பட்டுவிடும்.  பூமியின் வளிமண்டலமும் பெருங்கடலும் வெப்பமடைவதால், வெப்பக்காற்றில் அதிக ஈரப்பதம் கலக்கிறது. இதன் விளைவாக மழையும் பனியும் புதிய உச்சங்களைத் தொடுகின்றன என்கிறார்கள் விஞ்ஞானிகள். எளிமையாகச் சொல்ல வேண்டும் என்றால் `காலநிலை மாற்றம் வானிலைக்கு கூடுதல் `கிக்’ (kick ) கொடுத்து வளிமண்டல சுழற்சியைப் பாதிக்கிறது.  ஆப்பிரிக்காவின் சகாரா பாலைவனத்தில் கூட  பனிப்பொழிவு நிகழ்ந்துள்ளது.   1979-ம் ஆண்டு கடைசியாக அங்கு பனிமழை பொழிந்ததாக உள்ளூர் மக்கள் தெரிவித்துள்ளனர். அதன் பிறகு, கடந்த 2016ல் மிதமான பனிப்பொழிவு நிகழ்ந்தது.  சில மாதங்கள் முன் உலகின் எழில் கொஞ்சும் பேரருவிகளில் ஒன்றான நயாகரா நீர்வீழ்ச்சியின் ஒரு பகுதி, பனியில் உறைந்தது. பனிக் குவியல்கள், வெண்மை போர்த்திய மரங்கள் என நயாகராவின் அழகைக் கண்டுகளிக்க சுற்றுலாவாசிகள் அங்கு குவிந்தனர்.

பனிப்பரவைத் திரைததும்பப் பாரெல்லாம் நெடுங்கடலே ஆன காலம்,

இனிக்களைகண் இவர்க்கில்லை என்று  உலகம் ஏழினையும் ஊழில்வாங்கி

முனித்தலைவன் முழங்கொளிசேர் திருவயிற்றில் வைத்தும்மை உய்யக்கொண்ட

கனிகளவத்   திருவுருவத்து  ஒருவனையே கழல்தொழுமா கல்லீர்களே. 

இந்த பூவுலகு முழுவதும்  குளிர்ந்துபரந்திருக்கின்ற  அலைகளானவை ததும்பி எறியும்படி,  மஹாப்ரளய வெள்ளமே பரந்தபோது,  இவ்வுலகத்தார்க்கு இனிமேல் ரக்ஷகராவார் வேறு ஆருமில்லை என்று  ஏழு உலகங்களையும் முறையாலே வாங்கி மஹாகோஷம் நிரம்பிய திருவயிற்றினுள் வைத்து உலகத்தினை காத்து  உஜ்ஜீவிப்பித்தருளினவனும் ஸாத்விகர்களில் தலைவனும் கனிந்த களாப்பழம் போன்ற திருவுருவத்தை யுடையனுமான  திவ்யமூர்த்தி ஸ்வரூபனான எம்பெருமானின் திருவடிகளையே  தொழும்படி இப்புவியின் மடந்தைமார்களை அறிவுறுத்திகின்றார் நம் திருமங்கைமன்னன்.  

நாம் எம்பெருமானை பல்வேறு வாசனை மலர்கள் அளித்து, மிக அழகான திருவாபரணங்கள் சாற்றி, அற்புதமான பட்டு பீதாம்பரங்கள் சாற்றி - அவரது திருமேனி அழகை அனுபவிக்கின்றோம்.   தங்க அங்கி, வெள்ளி அங்கி, மலர் அலங்காரம்  இவைகள் தரிசித்து இருப்பீர்கள்.   எம்பெருமானுக்கு கபாயம்  எனும் போர்வையும் சாற்றப்படுகிறது.  சில திவ்யதேசங்களில், இரவு அல்லது அதிகாலை புறப்பாடு கண்டருளும்போது, எம்பெருமான்  பனிப்போர்வை போர்த்திக்கொண்டு அருள் பாலிக்கிறார்.  இதோ இங்கே திருமயிலை திரு அரவிந்த மாதவர் பரமபத வாசலுக்கு அதிகாலை புறப்பட்டு கண்டு அருளும்  போது பனிப்போர்வையுடன் எழுந்து அருளிய அற்புத வைபவம். 

Today being Vaikunda Ekadasi – at Thirumylai Sri Madhava Perumal Thirukovil, Sri Aravindha Madhavar had purappadu inside the temple (wearing Paniporvai) and there was Paramapada vasal opening.  ‘Vedha vinnappam’ was rendered by goshti. Here are some photos taken this morning.

At the Bhooloka Vaikundam, : Thiruvarangam Divyadesam the festivities  begin from Suklapaksha Ekadasi and celebrated for 23 days whence Namperumal listens to the vedas and Nammazhvar's Thiruvaimozhi as rendered by the Araiyars. The festival is divided into two parts, ten days before Vaikunda Ekadasi known as Pagalpathu  and  10 days from today, known as Raapathu. இன்று 25.12.2020 வைகுண்ட ஏகாதசி நன்னாள்.   ஸ்ரீவைஷ்ணவ உலகமே கொண்டாடும் ஓர் அற்புத நாள். இன்று முதல் பத்து நாள்கள் அனைத்து கோயில்களிலும் எம்பெருமான்,  ஸ்ரீசடகோபராகிய நம்மாழ்வார் அருளிய தமிழ் மறையாம்  திருவாய்மொழியை அனுபவித்து பத்தாம் நாள் நம்மாழ்வார் அனுபவித்த பரமபத அனுபவத்தை 'திருவடி தொழல்' எனும் நிகழ்வில் காரிமாறனை திரும்ப அளித்து நமக்கு அருள் செய்வான்.  பத்து நாட்கள் பகல் பத்து உத்சவம் முடிந்து, இன்று முதல் இராப்பத்து.  

திருமங்கை ஆழ்வார் ஏற்படுத்திய இந்த உத்சவத்தை, நாம் இன்று குறையில்லாமல் அனுபவிக்க முக்கியமான காரணம் நம் ஆசார்யர் ஸ்வாமி மணவாள மாமுனிகளே! .. அத்யயன உத்சவத்தின் சிறப்பு - எம்பெருமான் முன்பே அனைத்து ஆழ்வார்கள் ஆசார்யர்கள் எழுந்தருளப்பண்ணி அருளிச்செயல் சேவை சாதிப்பதே.  

எய்துமவர்க்கு இந்நிலத்தில் அர்ச்சாவதாரம் எளிது என நம் உயர்குரு மணவாள மாமுனிகள் விளம்பியபடி - அர்ச்சாவதாரம் மிக்க சிறப்பு வாய்ந்தது.  ஒரு சமயம்,  நஞ்சீயர் - நம்பிள்ளைக்கு  ‘அர்ச்சாவதாரத்திற்கு பரத்வமுண்டென்று அறிந்த அளவில்’  அதாவது  அர்ச்சை சொரூபம் (விக்ரஹரூபம்) எல்லாவற்றையும் விட சிறந்தது, மேன்மையானது என உபதேசித்தாராம்.  அவ்வளவில் இன்று நம் ஜெகத்ரக்ஷகனான ஸ்ரீ பார்த்தசாரதி திவ்ய மங்கள ஸ்வரூபத்தை சேவித்தவர்கள், அவனிடத்திலே என்றென்றும் ஆட்பட்டு இருப்பர். 

The divine Thirumamani mandapam is representative of the abode of Sriman Narayana, the holy  “Sri Vaikuntam” itself.  For Sri Vaishanavaites, the ultimate in life is attainment of moksha [salvation] by reaching Vaikuntam, the ultimate destination, the abode of Lord Himself.  This is ‘The place’ of no return and the human soul is free from the ills of the World and gets the supreme opportunity of nithya kainkaryam [daily service] to Lord.  

At Thiruvallikkeni divyadesam sung by 3 Alwars (as also in most divyadesams), Uthsavar enters  through the Paramapada vassal in the morning and in the evening in the subsequent nine days.   The   10 days starting from Vaikunda Ekadasi are  celebrated as “Iraapathu uthsavam” in which the hymns of Sri Nammazhwar (Thiruvoimozhi) are chanted. This religious system was started by Thirumangai Azhwar.  Later Acharyan Nathamuni introduced festival of 10 days preceding the Vaikunda Ekadasi, known as Pagal pathu when the rest of  Nalayira divyaprabandham (pasurams of Muthalayiram and Thirumangai mannanin Thirumozhi)  are recited.  In later days especially after the time when Thiruvarangan had to be away from Srirangam and reentered after decades, our Acaryar Swami Manavalamamunigal ensured that the athyayana uthsava celebrations were continued to be held in a grand manner.  

Have been attending and having His darshan at Thiruvallikkeni for decades – but today due to Corona, entry was restricted -  every year,  thousands of devotees throng the temple to have darshan of Sri Venkata Krishnar (Moolavar) and Sri Parthasarathi (Uthsavar). Moolavar Sri Venkada Krishnan adorns coat of choicest pearls (Muthangi).  Devotees feel enlightened and blessed, when they  cross the entrance - Vaikunda door ~ the paramapada vasal.  This morning around 0430am Lord Sri Parthasarathi had purappadu inside the temple and with Sri Nammalwar welcoming from  the other side, entered the Paramapada vasal.   

Here are some photos of Sri Parthasarathi Emperuman at Thiruvaimozhi mandapam. General devotees are allowed entry through Sri Peyalwar Kovil Street, walk through Andal sannathi, enter through Paramapada vasal and have Uthsavar darshan easily.

ஸ்ரீ வேங்கட கிருஷ்ணனது தரிசனம் செய்து, ஐந்து திவ்யதேச எம்பெருமான்களையும் சேவித்து, பரமபதம் புகுந்து, , ஸ்ரீ பார்த்தசாரதி பெருமாளை  திருவாய்மொழி மண்டபத்தில் சேவித்து, அவனடி சேர்ந்து உய்வீர் !

Sree Ramar Pattabishekam ... river Tamasa ..

Today Margazhi 7, Dec 22,2020 is day 8 of Pagal Pathu uthsavam and at Thiruvallikkeni it is Sri Rama Pattabisheka thirukolam for Sri Parthasarathi Perumal.

ஜகம் புகழும் புண்ணிய கதை  இராமனின் கதையே !!  நல்வழியில் நின்று உயர்ந்த நாயகனின் தோற்றமாக நிகழ்ந்தது புகழ்மிக்க இராமாவதாரம். அந்த மகத்தான கதையைக் கூறும் செய்யுள்கள் நிறைந்த குற்றமற்ற சிறந்த காவியம் கம்ப இராமாயணம்.  

Ever heard of the ‘Tamsa River’, a tributary of the Ganges flowing through the Indian states of Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.

Searching on this after a KBC Q on this .. read that the Tamas rises in a tank at Tamakund in the Kaimur Range at an elevation of 610 metres (2,000 ft). It flows through the fertile districts of Satna and Rewa. At the edge of the Purwa plateau, the Tamas and its tributaries form many waterfalls. The river receives the Belan in UP and joins the Ganges at Sirsa, about 311 kilometres (193 mi) downstream of the confluence of the Ganges and Yamuna. The total length of the river is 264 kilometres (164 mi).  The Tamas River while descending through the Rewa Plateau and draining northwards makes a vertical fall of 70m known as Purwa Falls.

A few months ago, the Water Innovation award was  conferred on Ayodhya district magistrate Anuj Kumar Jha for launching a campaign to revive the Tamsa river by mobilising manpower under the flagship MNREGS. The Union Jal Shakti ministry honoured him for his efforts to breathe life into an extinct river, which is now brimming and charting its mythological course from Ayodhya’s Basedi village.. .. …

நமக்கு பெருமையும் சிறப்பும் நம் இதிஹாச புராணங்களாலே ! ~  இராமாயணம் க்ஷத்ரிய வீர இராமனின் அருமைகளை இயம்பும் காதை.  தந்தை சொல் கேட்டு சிறப்பான நகரத்தை துறந்து வனம் ஏகிய நம் அண்ணல் இராமபிரான் தனது பயணத்திலே சந்தித்த ஒரு வேட்டுவன், குகன்.  வேட்டுவர் குலத் தலைவனான  அவன்  அரையில் ஆடையும் காலில் தோல் செருப்பும் அணிந்தவன்;   பொய் நீங்கிய மனத்தினன்.  யானைக் கூட்டம் போன்ற சுற்றத்தினரைப் பெற்றவன்; அவன் ஆயிரம் ஓடங்களுக்குத் தலைவன்; தூய கங்கையாற்றின் ஆழம் அளவு உயர்ந்தவன். 

The Pattabishekam of Sri Rama Piran is the most complete, exhilarating sight that one can behold – it is one pervading happiness, providing warmth, satisfaction and goodness to one and all.   இராமன் முடிசூடப்போகிறான்  என்று கேட்ட மக்களின் மகிழ்ச்சியை கவி சக்கரவர்த்தி கம்ப நாட்டாழ்வார் இவ்வாறு விவரிக்கிறார்.

‘பாவமும் அருந் துயரும் வேர் பறியும்’ என்பார்;

‘பூவலயம் இன்று தனி அன்று; பொது’ என்பார்;

‘தேவர் பகை உள்ளன இவ் வள்ளல் தெறும்’ என்பார்;

‘ஏவல் செயும் மன்னர் தவம் யாவது கொல்?’ என்பார்.

தசரத சக்ரவர்த்தியின் புதல்வன் ஸ்ரீ இராமபிரான்  ஆளப்போவதால் தீ வினைகளும் தீர்த்தற்கரிய துன்பங்களும்  அடியோடு அழியும் என்பார்;  இந்தப் பூமண்டலம் இப்பொழுது  இராமன்  ஒருவனுக்கே தனியுரிமை உடையதுஅன்று,  எல்லார்க்கும் பொதுவுடைமை ஆகும் என்பார்;   தேவர்களுக்குப் பகையாய் உள்ள அரக்கர் கூட்டங்களை இவ் இராமன் அழிப்பான் என்பார்; இவனுக்கு ஏவல் செய்யும் அரசர்களது;    நல்வினைதான்  எத்தன்மையதோ  என்பார்.

River Tamasa is associated with our great Ithihasam Sri Ramayana.  Actually Tamasa River described in Valmiki Ramayana is a seasonal rivulet, originates somewhere in Barabanki and flows through Ayodhya district to Darban lake in Tanda tehsil in Ambedkar Nagar. This river is left side to Ganga and Gomti. Thus has no relation to Reva or Madhya Pradesh.

Valmiki mentions of Sree Rama requesting the citizens accompanying him on his exile, to return to Ayodhya and to show respect to Bharata the prince Regent and Dasaratha the king. The citizens try to persuade Rama to return to Ayodhya, but in vain. Rama along with all of them reach the bank of Tamasa.

 

अनुरक्ता महात्मानं रामं सत्यपराक्रमम्।

अनुजग्मुः प्रयान्तं तं वनवासाय मानवाः।।2.45.1।।

anuraktā mahātmānam rāmam satya parakramam |

anujagmuḥ prayāntam tam vana vāsāya mānavāḥ || 2-45-1

When Sree Rama left Ayodhya on exile, all the people of the land of Ayodhya accompanied the Great son of the land but were forced to return back to the kingdom by SreeRama Himself.  It is stated that Tamasa  is the river on which Rama spent his first night away from the kingdom of Ayodhya as he commenced his exile. When Rama left Ayodhya people followed him and were not ready to return to their homes. In the evening Rama, Lakshmana and Sita and all the people reached the banks of the Tamas. Rama and everyone agreed to spend the night at the banks of the Tamaas river and continue the journey next morning. Rama left people sleeping and continued the journey further. The Ashrama of sage Valmiki was at the banks of Tamaas river.  Decades later Sitadevi spent her lift in exile  at the bank of the Tamas river at the ashram of Valmiki along with  Lava and Kusha.  There are also versions that it was on  the banks of river Tamas existed the ashram of Bharadwaj, where Valmiki himself turned ascetic and composed the first sloka.

Generally, people get excited about Vaikunda Ekadasi and ‘Paramapada  Vasal’ ~ commonly called ‘Sorga vassal thirappu’.. .. this year Vaikunda Ekadasi falls on 25.12.2020  (10^th   day of Margazhi) ~ Pagal pathu uthsavam commenced on 15.12.2020 and today (19.12.2020)  is day 5   ~ from 25.12.20  till 3.1.2021  will be Irapathu .. and on 4^th Jan 2021   is Iyarpa Sarrumurai

இன்று (19.12.2020) மார்கழி அவிட்டம் - பகல்பத்து  உத்சவத்திலே 5ம் நாள்.  திருவல்லிக்கேணியில் ஸ்ரீபார்த்தசாரதி பெருமாள் ஏணிக்கண்ணன் திருக்கோலம்.

At the Bhooloka Vaikundam of Srirangam Divyadesam, it begins from Suklapaksha Ekadasi and celebrated for 23 days whence Namperumal listens to the vedas and Nammazhvar's Thiruvaimozhi as rendered by the Araiyars. The festival is divided into two parts, ten days before Vaikunda Ekadasi known as Pagalpathu  and  10 days from Vaikunda Ekadasi  known as Raapathu.  The adhyayana Uthsavam (the opportunity of chanting 4000 divyaprabandham) infront of Presiding deity and ensemble of Azhwars and Acaryas occurs in all divyadesams and all important Sri Vaishnavaite temples.

Let us fall at the lotus feet of Sriman Narayana singing the verses of Thirumazhisaipiran from his Thiruchandavirutham and that  will ensure all goodness and prosperity.  Today is day 5  of Pagal pathu – and here are some photos of the Uthsava celebrations at Thirumylai Sri Kesava Perumal Thirukovil.  The Lord Madhavar was exceptionally spectacular with a captivating diadem. In the goshti it was Thiruchandavirutham, Thirumalai, Thirupalli yezhuchi, Amalanathipiran and Kanninum siruthambu [muthal ayiram sarrumurai]

வீடுபேறு எனும் மோக்ஷத்தை அளிக்க வல்ல அந்த ஸ்ரீமன் நாரணனின் திருவடிகளையே புகலடைய  அறிவுறுத்தும் திருச்சந்தவிருத்த பாசுரம் இங்கே :  

அத்தனாகி அன்னையாகி   ஆளும்  எம்பிரானுமாய்

ஒத்தொவ்வாத பல்பிறப்பொழித்து  நம்மையாட்கொள்வான்

முத்தனார்  முகுந்தனார்  புகுந்து   நம்முள் மேவினார்

எத்தினால்  இடர்க்கடல் கிடத்தி  ஏழை நெஞ்சமே.

 எம்பெருமான் எத்தகையவன் ... எவ்வளவு உயர்ந்தவன் .. ஈடு இணையில்லாதவன்  எனினும் தன்னடியார்க்கு எளியன், இனியன், அற்புதன் .. ..  மோக்ஷபூமியை அளிக்கவல்லனான முகுந்தன்,  ஸம்ஸார ஸம்பந்தமில்லாதவன்;  ஞானமுடைமையால் ஒத்தும் யோநிபேதத்தால் ஒவ்வாமலுமிருக்கிற பலவகைப்பட்ட பிறவிகளைப்போக்கி, நம்மை அடிமை கொள்வதற்காக அன்னையும் பிதாவும் ஆகி  அடிமைகொள்ளும் ஸ்வாமியாயும், நம்மிடத்திலே புகுந்து ஒரு நீராகப் பொருந்தினவன்  அந்த எம்பெருமான் ஸ்ரீமன் நாரணன்.  மதிகெட்ட மனமே !, எதுக்காக துக்கஸாகரத்திலே  அழுந்திக் கிடக்கின்றாய் ?  - அவனையே நினை, அவனையே அடை .. அவன் திருத்தாள்களையே சென்று சேர் - அனைத்து நலன்களும் தானாகவே அமையும்.
