Sri Azhagiya Singar  Brahmothsavam 2017  : Punnai Kilai vahanam - day 1 Eve

On the evening of day 1 of Brahmothsavam-  3^rd July 2017 ,  – it is Punnai Kilai Vahanam with Sri Azhagiya Singar  as Sri Krishna, the Divine Flautist. 

Unlike Ramavathara, Lord Krishna exhibited glimpses of divinity many a  times... as he grew up in Vrindavanam, people were attracted to Him with boundless devotion longing for the Lord, longing to hear His melodious flute; yearning to get near and be with Him.  It was not the earthly love but the infinite devotion to the Lord  ~ the Punnaikilaivahanam depicts his iraasaleelai with gopikas. 

ஸ்ரீ அழகிய சிங்கர்  ஸ்ரீக்ருஷ்ணாவதார நாயனாக அற்புத சேவை அளிக்கும் -  ப்ரம்மோத்சவத்தில், முதல் நாள் மாலை புன்னை கிளை வாஹனம். வேய்ங்குழல் ஊதும் கண்ணனாக 'புன்னை கிளை வாஹனத்தில்  " குரவை  ஆய்ச்சியர்களோடு விளையாடும் திருக்கோலம்." புன்னை மிகவும் அழகிய தோற்றம் கொண்ட மரங்களுள் ஒன்றாகும்.  இதன் இலைகள் சற்று பெரியதாகவும்,பளபளப்பாகவும் இருக்கும். புன்னைமரத்தின் அறிவியற் பெயர்: calophyllum inophyllum : calophyllum என்பதன் பொருள்அழகான இலை.

இன்று ஆனி ஸ்வாதி ஆகியபடியே பொங்கும் பரிவாலே பெரியாழ்வார் எனும் பெயர் பெற்ற பட்டர்பிரானின் திருவவதார திருநாள்.  மழை பெய்தபடியால்  வாகன புறப்பாடு இல்லை.  பெருமாளும் ஆழ்வாரும் போர்வை சாற்றிக்கொண்டு எழுந்து அருளின புறப்பாடு.  பெரியாழ்வார்  தனது பாசுரங்களில், கண்ணனின் குழலோசையை  "தூவலம்புரியுடைய திருமால் தூய வாயில் குழலோசை வழியே"  எனவும் ........ 

மதுசூதனன் வாயில் குழலி னோசை செவியைப்பற்றி வாங்க*

நன்னரம்புடைய தும்புருவோடு நாரதனும் தம்தம் வீணை மறந்து*

கின்னரமிதுனங்களும் தம்தம் கின்னரம் தொடுகிலோமென்றனரே."

                                                          ~   என்றெல்லாம் சிறப்புற அனுபவிக்கிறார்.

கண்ணபிரானுடைய வாயில் (வைத்து ஊதப்பெற்ற) வேய்ங்குழலினுடைய  ஸ்வரமானது,செவிகளை கவர்ந்திழுக்க, நல்ல வீணையைக் கையிலுடைய தும்புரு முனிவனும்,நாரதமஹர்ஷியும் தங்கள் தங்களுடைய வாத்தியங்களை இனி தொடவும் மாட்டோம் என்றனராம்.

Here are some photos of Sri Azhagiya Singar  in Punnai Kilai vahanam taken  this evening.  The above vahana photo is one taken in 2012 Brahmothsavam.   It rained and hence there was no vahana purappadu.  It was Periyazhwar Sarrumurai being Swathi nakshathiram in the month of Aani and alwar had purappadu with Perumal.

Sri Azhagiya Singar Aani Brahmothsavam at Thiruvallikkeni 2017

The annual Aani Brahmothsavam of Sri Azhagiya Singar  started today  3^rd July 2017 at Thiruvallikkeni.  It was not  the perfect start  as morning purappadu could not occur in time due some unfortunate contingency in mada veethi. 

In the evening between 4 – 5 pm, there was ‘dwajarohanam’ and thence the purappadu  – not in the grand Dharmathi peedam, but in Kedayam.  Sri Azhagiya Singar shone with radiance yet many of us missing Him gracing the dharmathipeedam.  Recalling how grand it had been, a couple of photos of yesteryears is posted here.

The Muthalazhwargal (Pogai alwar, Boothathalwar and Peyalwar) met at Thirukovalur.... Poigai azhwar started singing the greatness of the Lord by lighting the Earth itself as the light and Ocean as the ghee...... he says.... எம்பெருமானை தங்கள் மனசார அனுபவித்து ஆசையாய் தங்கள் வார்த்தைகள் உரைத்தவர்கள் ஆழ்வார்கள்.

ஒன்றும் மறந்தறியேன் ஓதநீர் வண்ணனை நான்,

இன்று மறப்பனோ ஏழைகாள் – அன்று*

கருவரங்கத்துட்கிடந்து கைதொழுதேன் கண்டேன்*

திருவரங்கமேயான் திசை.

பொய்கையார் ~  ஸ்ரீமன் நாராயணனிடத்தில் பக்தி குறைந்தவர்களை  ஏழைகாள் என விளித்து கூறுகிறார் : அறியா காலத்திலேயே,  வெள்ளம் பரந்தது போன்ற வடிவழகுள்ள பெருமானை மறந்தறிய மாட்டேன்; வளர்ந்து ஞானம் பெற்ற பிறகு,   காவிரி பாயும் திருவரங்கத்திலே பள்ளி கொண்டுள்ள  பெரிய பெருமாளுடைய திசை, எந்நாளும் மறக்க வல்லேன்.

Poigaipiraan, calls those who are less inclined in bakthi towards Sriman Naryaana as poor and says  - that even in those days lying in the womb i.e., when he had no knowledge, he was fully inclined towards the Lord of the Ocean, now after acquiring some knowledge, he cannot but fold his hands and pray towards South  to the Lord reclining on Adisesha at the beautiful Thiruvarangam, enclosed by flowing Thiru kaveri.

It is indeed a bliss to live in a divyadesam and have darshan of the Supreme Lord in various alankarams astride so many vahanams.  

So from today with His blemishless grace, we will have darshan of His vahana purappadus and here are some photos of morning purappadu that took place in the evening.

Sri Thelliya Singar Brahmothsavam starts today.  : Aani Brahmothsavam of Sri Thelliya Singar starts on 3rd July at Thiruvallikkeni

On all days there will be purappadu [@ 6 am in the morning] and [@ 7.45 pm in the evening]

3.7  :  Dharmathipeedam  (is delayed due to some contingency ; Kodi at 4 – 5 pm and thence purappadu around 6 pm  /  PUnnaikilai Vahanam thereafter

Couple of photos taken in yesteryears.

Thiruvallikkeni Sri Varadharajar Aani Hastham purappadu 2017

At Thiruvallikkeni, Kodai Uthsavam concluded and even as we wait for the grand brahmothsavam of Sri Azhagiya Singar, today is Aani Hastham and Sri Varadharajar had chinna maada veethi purappadu.

The annual brahmothsavam of Sri Devathirajar concluded only recently and for sure you have seen many many photos of Thirukachi Sri Varadharaja Perumal purappadu and had great darshan of the Swami, for whom Brahma created the annual uthsavam.  Below is a small part reproduced from the writings of Sri Srinidhi Akkarakkani Swami (thanks to him and my friend VN Kesavabashyam for the post and photos of Thirukachi, [the first 3] which are seen here).  The rest are the photos of Sri Varadharajar taken in purappadu this evening.

இன்று ஆனி  ஹஸ்த திருநக்ஷத்திரம் ~   திருவல்லிக்கேணியில் ஸ்ரீ வரதராஜர் சின்ன மாட வீதி புறப்பாடு கண்டருளினார். அல்லிக்கேணியிலே தேவப்பெருமாள் மூலவரே கருட வாகனனாய் காட்சி அளிக்கிறார். 

பெருமாள் கோவில் என்று ஸ்ரீவைணவர்கள் கொண்டாடும் திருக்கச்சி திவ்யதேசத்தினிலே அருளாளர் தேவாதிராஜன் எழுந்து அருளியுள்ளார்.  இங்கே பெருமாள் எழுந்தருளியதும் உத்சவங்கள் மிக சிறப்புற  நடைபெறுவதும் தொன்றுதொட்டு நடைபெறுபவன.  எம்பெருமான் பிரமன் தொழ இங்கே வந்து அருளினார்.

திருவத்தி மாமலையில் என்றென்றும் நின்று " பின்னானார் வணங்கும் சோதியாய்" பேரருளாளன் திகழ்ந்திட வேண்டும் என்று பிரமன் இறைஞ்சிடவும் , அப்படியே ஆகட்டும் என்று திருவாய் மலர்ந்தருளினான் பகவான் ! பிரமனுக்குக் காஞ்சியிலேயே தங்கிவிட ஆசை ! இந்த ஆரமுதைப் பருகிக் களித்தவன் ; மீண்டும் ஸத்யலோகம் செல்ல மனமில்லாதவனாய் , "வேழமலை வேந்தனிடம் " நித்தியமும் கைங்கர்யங்களைச் செய்து கொண்டு இங்கேயே ( காஞ்சியிலேயே ) தங்கிவிடும் தன்னுடைய ஆசையை வெளியிட்டான் !

" நித்யம் நிரபராதேஷு கைங்கர்யேஷு நியுங்க்ஷ்வ மாம் " ( ந்யாஸ தசகம் ) என்றபடி , காஞ்சியில் தேவப்பெருமாள் திருவடியிணைகளில் கைங்கர்யத்தை வேண்டினான்..  பிரம்மனுக்கு, வரதன் அருளின அற்புத வார்த்தைகள் :  நான் என்றென்றைக்குமாக இந்த அத்திகிரியில் நின்று கொண்டு வரந்தரு மாமணிவண்ணனாய்,  ஸநாதந தர்மத்தை வாழ்வித்துக் கொண்டு , ஸஜ்ஜநங்களைக் ( நல்லவர்களை ) காத்துக் கொண்டு , ப்ருகு புத்ரியாய்த் தோன்றிடும் பெருந்தேவியுடன் கூடி, " பெருந்தேவி மணாளனாய் " , கலியுக வரதனாய், கண் கொடுப்பவனாய் , அடியவர்களுக்கு ஸுலபனாய் நின்று ரக்ஷித்துக் கொண்டிருப்பேன் !

அத்தகைய திவ்யதேசம் கண்டு தொழுவோம்; எங்கெங்கும் ஸ்ரீ வரதனின் தாள் பணிந்து பேரருள் பெறுவோம். !!
