Ekkattuthangal Thiruvooral Uthsava purappadu 2026

 

மண்டகப்படி  என்ற வார்த்தையை கேள்வியுற்று இருக்கிறீர்களா ?   .. .. ..  for sure,  thousands  of devotees come from various places in the city to have darshan of Sri Parthasarathi Emperuman.  .. .. and on a special day, Sri Parthasarathi soujourns long winding trip to give feasty divine darshan to his bakths.

Moving away,  How often do you venture out in the midnight or early hours ! not by car, not on any vehicle  but or by walk and what would be your reaction, when  a group of fiery street mongrels  start barking and worser still, if they chase you !  .. .. Contrary to the notion that Cows and many other animals sleep standing – cattle   typically lie down to sleep or simply to rest, usually leaning forward on their chest and forelimbs or lying completely on their sides. Cows need their sleep to stay healthy; just as other animals do – so at 1.30 am  (yes  half past One O clock in the morning)    when cows doze  at Thiruvallikkeni streets,   the Temple area  becomes  busy  with  purappadu at midnight (early morning to be precise!)  

நான் ரொம்ப 'பிசி' என்று சொல்லிக்கொள்ளும் பலரும் ஒரு நாளில் என்னவெல்லாம் உருப்படியாக செய்கிறோம் ? - ஒரு நாள் திடீரென 'எவ்வளவு பயனற்ற வாழ்வு ' கழித்துள்ளோம் என்பது புரியும்.  பக்த சிரேஷ்டரான பொய்கையாழ்வார் அருளிச்செய்கிறார். :

பழுதே பலபகலும்*  போயினவென்று *  அஞ்சி-

அழுதேன்*  அரவணைமேல் கண்டு தொழுதேன்*

பழுது : பயனின்மை  ~   so may precious days in life have goneby wasted – I lament and cry for that .. .. .. to my fortune I saw the ocean-hued red-eyed Lord reclining on the serpent bed, -his feet caressed by lapping waves -and offered worship to him; and I realize that is the meaning of life. 

திருவல்லிக்கேணி திவ்ய தேசத்தில் நடக்கும் ஒரு சிறப்பு உத்சவம் "ஈக்காட்டுத்தாங்கல் திருவூறல் உத்சவம்".  அடையாறு ஆற்றங்கரையில் கிண்டி அருகே உள்ள ஈக்காடு தொழிற்பேட்டைக்கு  ஸ்ரீபார்த்தசாரதி பெருமாள் பிரதி வருடமும் ஒரு நாள் எழுந்து அருள்கிறார். திருநக்ஷத்திரம் கணக்கு இல்லாமல் நடக்கும் ஒரு சிறப்பு உத்சவம் "ஈக்காடுத்தாங்கல்  உத்சவம்".  கிண்டி அருகே உள்ள ஈக்காடு தொழிற்பேட்டை பிரசித்தி பெற்றது. இது அடையாறு ஆற்றங்கரையில் உள்ளது.  ஸ்ரீ பார்த்தசாரதி பெருமாள் பிரதி வருடமும் ஒரு நாள் இங்கு எழுந்து அருள்கிறார்.  தை / மாசி மாதம்  மற்ற சிறப்பு உத்சவங்கள் ஏதுவும் இல்லாத ஒரு ஞாயிற்றுக் கிழமை இவ்வுத்சவம் நடைபெறுகிறது.   இவ்வருடம் இவ்வுத்சவம்  15.2.2026  அன்று  சிறப்புற நடைபெற்றது.

ஈக்காட்டுத் தாங்கல் உத்சவத்திலே, ஸ்ரீபார்த்தசாரதி பெருமாள் நேராக எழுந்தருளாமல் வழியில் பல இடங்களில் இளைப்பாறுகிறார்.  திருக்கோவில்கள், சில நிறுவனங்கள், தனியாரின் வீடுகள் சில இந்த வரிசையில் உண்டு.  பல வருடங்களாக இவ்விடங்களில் பெருமாளுக்கு 'மண்டகப்படி' உண்டு.  பெருமாள் இவ்விடங்களில் எழுந்து அருளி, காத்து இருக்கும் நூற்றுக்கணக்கான பக்தர்களுக்கு அருள் பாலிப்பார்.  அதிகாலை 1.30  மணியளவில் திருக்கோவிலில் இருந்து துவங்கிய புறப்பாடு   முதலில் தவன உத்சவ பங்களா, வெங்கட்ரங்கம் பிள்ளை தெரு ஸ்ரீபார்த்தசாரதி சபா, அருகில் விஜய் அவென்யு, முன்னாள் சொலிசிட்டர் ஜெனரல் திருபராசரன் இல்லம், திருமயிலை மாதவப்பெருமாள் திருக்கோவில், திருகேசவப்பெருமாள் திருக்கோவில் என திருமயிலை, ஆள்வார்ப்பேட்டை, தியாகராயநகர், நுங்கம்பாக்கம், மேற்கு மாம்பலம், சைதாப்பேட்டை என பல பகுதிகள் வழியாக, பல இடங்களில் மண்டகப்படிகள் கண்டருளி ஈக்காட்டுத்தாங்கலில் தனது நிலத்திற்கு எழுந்தருள்கிறார்.  இவ்விடத்தில் இப்போது அருமையான மண்டபம் அமைந்துள்ளது.  ஒரு காலத்தில் அடையாறு ஆற்றங்கரையில் சோலை நடுவில் குளுமையான சூழலில் இந்த உத்சவம் நடந்து இருக்கும்.  இப்போது இவ்விடம் ஒரு தொழிற்பேட்டை.

Chennaites will never forget Dec 2015 when torrential rains swamped the city and water flowed over the bridge across Saidapet, inundating many places with transportation coming to a standstill.   The river Adyaru emanates from  Malaipattu  tank at  Manimangalam Village and traverses 42.5 km, flowing into Bay of Bengal.   On that fateful day when it flowed over bridges, it was reported that it was  carrying more than one lakh cusecs of water on December 2 and 3, much more than the official account. 

On the banks of ‘Adayaru’ lies Ekkattuthangal, now an industrial belt and at Ekkadu there is a piece of land owned by Perumal.  Sri Parthasarathi Emperuman  visits this place once an year and has thirumanjanam – this sojourn starts  @ 1.30 am,  Sri Parthasarathi perumal has purappadu in palanquin – traversing through the city, halting at many a places ;  reaches His land at around 12 noon  has thirumanjanam at around 12.30 noon, again starts around 3 pm, purappadu at Saidapet, reaches back Thiruvallikkeni in the night.

                     இன்று ஈக்காடு தாங்கல் உத்சவம்  (15.2.2026) அதிகாலை 1.30 மணியளவில் திருவல்லிக்கேணி திருக்கோவிலில்   இருந்து கிளம்பி - தவன உத்சவ பங்களா, வெங்கடரங்கம் தெரு விஜய் அவென்யு, ராதாகிருஷ்ணன் சாலை, திருமயிலை, ஆழ்வார்பேட்டை, தி. நகர், கோடம்பாக்கம், நுங்கம்பாக்கம், மாம்பலம், சைதாப்பேட்டை என பல பகுதிகள் வழியாக ஸ்ரீபார்த்தசாரதி எம்பெருமான் எழுந்தருளி, சுமார் 12.00 மணியளவில் ஈக்காடு மண்டபம் வந்தருளி திருமஞ்சனம்  கண்டருள்கிறார்.

At such designated places, devotees wait  – the places are  bedecked beautifully with kolams, floral settings as they stand  with flowers and fruit offerings for Emperuman.  So many would be  lucky to have darshan of fleeting  Sri Parthasarathi perumal having this special purappadu.  The 25 km odd soujourn is  a tough and demanding one  for the kainkaryabarars of Thiruvallikkeni – the sripadhamthangigal, Battar, Adhyapakas, various others engaged in doing service to Emperuman –  a long journey crisscrossing the city.  One needs to witness the difficulties posed – yet how those sripadhamthangigal and other kainkaryabarargal  remain cheerful throughout the journey  is to be seen to be belived – they literally run carrying the pallakku unmindful of the road conditions – and that is revelation of exemplary  commitment and the spirit of kainkaryam of the youngsters of Thiruvallikkeni.
