Masi REvathi 2021 - Sri Ranganathar purappadu : விலவறச் சிரித்திட்டேனே. !

திருவரங்கத்து உறையும் என் திருவரங்கனே  ! ~ உன்னையல்லால்

என்னை உய்விக்க வல்லவர் எவர்  உளர்  ?? 

 

Are you a serious person ? – how often do you laugh .. .. what makes you laugh, how good is your humour sense .. .. would you take it lightly, if someone were to make a joke on you .. Qs and more Qs .. .. everyone knows what they  are !!

The one who would come readily to mind was born in London, England, in  1889, struggled in his younger days of poverty. His father was a versatile vocalist and actor; and his mother, known under the stage name of Lily Harley, was an attractive actress and singer, who gained a reputation for her work in the light opera field. The man - Charles Spencer Chaplin.  Charlie was thrown on his own resources before he reached the age of ten as the early death of his father and the subsequent illness of his mother made it necessary for Charlie and his brother, Sydney, to fend for themselves.   The man who made every one laugh – found his life not so happy and laughworthy.  His career spanned more than 75 years, from childhood in the Victorian era until a year before his death in 1977, and encompassed both adulation and controversy.

Back home, the man of masses, the main subject matter of memes in social media - Kumaravadivel Natarajan, (simply Vadivelu)  has made a great mark with his punch words and his mannerisms.  Vaigai puyal is simply unstoppable and would bring out laughter at the drop of hat ! 

Way back in 1941 was released ‘Sabapathi’ directed & produced by AV  Meiyappan. An adaptation of Pammal Sambandha Mudaliar's farce play of the same name, the film starred TR Ramachandran, Kali N. Rathnam, CT Rajakantham and K  Sarangapani. It focussed  on the antics of two dim-witted men named Sabapathy: a wealthy man and his servant. The comedy movie was a success.  In the initial years (1930s and 40s) Tamil films mainly narrated stories from popular Hinduism  like Baktha Prahalada, Meerabai, Harichandra and so on. It also relied heavily on the Ramayana, Mahabharata and Tamil literature to make films. There were occasional film adaptations of stage plays and stories from Tamil weeklies, and Sabapathi was  a rare comedy.   

Comedy (from the Greek: kōmōdía) is a genre of fiction consisting of discourses or works intended to be humorous or amusing by inducing laughter, especially in theatre, film, stand-up comedy, television, radio, books, or any other entertainment medium. The term originated in Ancient Greece: in Athenian democracy, the public opinion of voters was influenced by political satire performed by comic poets in theaters.  Moving away, let us read on what Thondaradipodigal azhwar states that made his laugh !!  

Today 16^th Feb  2021  -  is   Masi  Revathi.   At Thiruvallikkeni divaydesam, Sri Mannathar (Sri Ranganathar) had siriya mada veethi purappadu.  Here are some photos of Lord Ranganathar during today’s purappadu. 

The great saint by name Vipra Narayanar, born at Thirumandankudi also known as Bhaktanghri renu later came to be hailed as  ‘Thondaradippodi Alvar’ due to his devotion to the devotees of Lord. Thondaradipodi rendered 55 verses in praise of Lord Ranganatha - 10 verses of Thirupalli Yezhuchi and 45 verses of Thiru Maalai.  Thirupalliyezhuchi is recited in every temple to wake up the Lord and rendered during kalasanthi in the morning.   In Thirumaalai, Azhwar  states on what makes him laugh .. ..

செம்ம காமெடி !  நாம் நகைச்சுவையை நன்றாக ரசித்தால் , விலா நோக சிரிப்போம் .. ..         இதோ இங்கே தொண்டரடிப்பொடிகளின் திருமாலை பாசுரம் :

 

உள்ளத்தே  உறையும் மாலை உள்ளுவான்  உணர்வொன்றில்லா*

கள்ளத்தேன் நானும் தொண்டாய்த் தொண்டுக்கே கோலம் பூண்டு*

உள்ளுவார்  உள்ளிற்றெல்லாம் உடனிருந்து   அறிதியென்று

வெள்கிப்போய்   என்னுள்ளே  நான் விலவறச்   சிரித்திட்டேனே.

 

எம்பெருமான் ஸ்ரீமன் நாரணன்  எங்கும் நிறைந்து இருப்பவன்.  அவன் வெளியே மட்டுமல்ல ! - நம் உள்ளத்துக்கு  உள்ளேயும் உறைபவன்.  நெஞ்சினுள்ளே வாஸஞ்செய்கிற எம்பெருமானாகிய  அவனை, கள்ளனாகிய அடியேனும், அவனது  அடிமையிலேயே அந்வயித்தவனாய், அவ்வடிமைக்கு உரிய வேஷங்களை அணிந்து இருந்தபோதிலும், சிந்திப்பவர்கள் சிந்திப்பதெல்லாவற்றையும்  சிந்திப்பதற்குறுப்பான அறிவு சிறிதும் இல்லாத நான் - அந்த எம்பெருமான் எப்பொழுதும் என் கூடவே இருக்கிறான் என்பதை உணராதலால்  மிகவும் வெட்கப்பட்டு விலவு அற சிரித்திட்டேன் என்கிறார் தொண்டரடிப்பொடிகள்.
