நற்பண்புகள் அனைத்துக்கும் சிகரம் ஸ்ரீராமபிரான்.  அற்புதமான நகரம் திரு அயோத்தி.  தசரத சக்ரவர்த்திக்கு இக்ஷ்வாகு குலத்தனமாம் இராமனும் இலக்குவண பரத சத்ருக்கணனும் பிறந்த  செய்தியை அரசவை காவலர்கள்  யானை மீதேறி முரசறைந்து அறிவித்தனர்.  மக்கள் அளக்கமுடியாத இன்பம் கொண்டனர்.  

 

Today 3.6.2022 is Vaikasi Punarvasu – in general, on Punarvasu there would be purappadu of Sree Rama – however, today being Vasantha Uthsava starting, there would be periya mada veethi purappadu of Sri Parthasarathi Perumal – Swami Nammalwar uthsavam also starts today. 

River Danube  is the second-longest river in Europe, after the Volga in Russia. It flows through much of Central and Southeastern Europe, from the Black Forest into the Black Sea.  The river carries its name from its source confluence in Donaueschingen onwards.  Danube was once a long-standing frontier of the Roman Empire and today is the river running through the largest number of countries in the world (10; the Nile is second with 9). Originating in Germany, the Danube flows southeast for 2,850 km (1,770 mi), passing through or bordering Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia, Serbia, Romania, Bulgaria, Moldova and Ukraine before draining into the Black Sea. Its drainage basin extends into nine more countries. The largest cities on the river are Vienna, Budapest, Belgrade and Bratislava, all of which are the capitals of their respective countries.  The Danube river basin is home to fish species such as pike, zander, huchen, Wels catfish, burbot and tench. It is also home to a large diversity of carp and sturgeon, as well as salmon and trout.  Since ancient times, the Danube has been a traditional trade route in Europe.   

Danube   river name derived from the Celtic 'danu' a mother goddess of the Tuatha Dé Danann.    The Tuath(a) Dé Danann (meaning "the folk of the goddess Danu"), are a supernatural race in Irish mythology. They are thought to represent the main deities of pre-Christian Gaelic Ireland.  It  constitutes a pantheon whose attributes appeared in a number of forms throughout the Celtic world.  

Moving away from Europe and river – heard a very beautiful Annamayya keerthana on Lord Rama  (Annamayya Ramanjaneya lahari)  .. .. .. 

రామ దశరథరామ నిజ సత్య- కామ నమో నమో కాకుత్థ్సరామ ||

 

In this beautiful keerthana, Annamayya extols Sree Ramachandramurthi as the son of Dasaratha,  who defeated demon, one who is eternally praise-worthy, incarnation of God possessing magnificent  characteristic   

தனுஜஹரண ராம தஶரத ஸுத ராம

வினுதாமர ஸ்தோத்ர விஜயராம |

மனுஜாவதாரா ராம மஹனீய குணராம

அனிலஜப்ரிய ராம அயோத்யராம || 

Here Annamacharya writes as ‘dhanuja harana’ - Danu,  Goddess, is mentioned in the Rigveda, as mother of the Danavas. The word Danu described the primeval waters which this deity perhaps embodied. In the Rigveda, she is identified as the mother of Vritra, the demonic serpent slain by Indra.  There are also references to her as the daughter of the god Daksha and his spouse Panchajani, and the consort of the sage Kashyapa.  As a word for "rain" or "liquid", dānu is  also compared to Avestan dānu, "river".

Udayavar masa thirunakshathiram - Vaikasi Thiruvathirai 2022

Today   is Vaikasi  Thiruvathirai – masa thirunakshathiram of Swami Emperumanar. "தஸ்மை ராமானுஜார்யாய நம: பரமயோகினே" ~ we fall at the feet of the Greatest of Acharyas who is hailed as the King of all Sages.    The Greatest to descend as a human being on this earth, Swami Ramanuja Charya neatly chronicled and documented in as many terms the VisishtAdvaita sampradAya. The works of all other acharyas followed his footsteps. Thus our darsanam is fondly known  “Emperumanar darsanam” or “Ramanuja Darsanam”.   

It was on Chithirai Thiruvathirai ~ almost ten centuries ago, was born Sri Ilayavazhwar later acclaimed to be Ramanujar – at Sriperumpudur.  Hundreds of kingdoms have fallen wayside – some reached pinnacle of glory but slowly fading to oblivion – amidst  our Acharyar Sri Ramanuja, always has the  pride of place continuing to remain at the helm of all Yathis and all devotees.  He is a multi-faceted genius – the proponent of Sri Vishistadvaitam; a great social reformer, temple-builder, one who built tanks and lakes; united people; management expert who set in place the management of temple involving thousands of people of various hues. 

There are so many places related to him – Thiruvallikkeni, Sriperumpudur, Thirukachi, Thiruputkuzhi, Thiruvarangam, Thiruvellarai, Thirumalai, Maduranthakam, Thirunarayanapuram – the list extends to Delhi, Kashmir, Simhachalam, Puri, Thiruvananthapuram and more. His birth nakshathiram is celebrated widely ~ at every divya desam, for sure there would be rendering of ‘Ramanuja noorranthathi’ of Thiruvarngathu Amuthanar. 

எம்பெருமானரிடத்திலே அளவற்ற பற்று கொண்டவர்.  திருவரங்கத்து அமுதனார் தமது  இராமாநுச நூற்றந்தாதி பிரபந்தத்தில், ஒவ்வொருபாட்டிலும் இராமாநூசனது திருநாமங்களை, அவரது பெருமைகளையும் சொல்லி மகிழ்கிறார். திருவரங்கத்து அமுதனாரின் இராமானுச நூற்றந்தாதி - எம்பெருமானாரின் சிறப்புகளை அழகிய பாசுரங்களில் உரைப்பது.  இதோ இங்கே ஒரு பாசுரம். :

எனக்குற்ற செல்வம்  இராமானுசனென்று இசையகில்லா

மனக்குற்ற மாந்தர் பழிக்கில் புகழ் அவன் மன்னியசீர்

தனக்குற்ற அன்பர் அவன் திருநாமங்கள் சாற்றுமென்பா

இனக்குற்றம்  காணகில்லார், பத்தி ஏய்ந்த இயல்விதென்றே.  

நமக்கு  வாய்த்த அற்புதமான செல்வம் சுவாமி எம்பெருமானாரே’ என்று பெருமை கொண்டிருக்கமாட்டாத   கெட்ட எண்ணங்களை மனதில் கொண்ட மனுஷர்கள் இந்த இராமானுச நூற்றந்தாதி நூலையும், இயற்றிய அமுதனாரையும் பழிப்பார்களே ஆனால் - அந்த மானிடரின்  பழிப்பே இதற்குப்  புகழாய்விடும்; அவ்வெம்பெருமானாருடைய  நித்யஹித்தமான கல்யாணகுணங்களுக்கு  தகுதியான அன்பையுடையவர்களான மஹான்கள்  இந்நூலானது பக்தியோடு கூடின ப்ரவ்ருத்தியையுடையதென்று  திருவுள்ளம் கொண்டு,  அவ்விராமாநுசனுடைய   திருநாமங்களைக் சொல்லுகின்ற  இந்தப் பாசுரமாலைகளிலுள்ள குற்றங்மளைக் காணமாட்டார்கள், என்கிறார் திருவரங்கத்தமுதனார்.

Sri Parthasarathi Perumal Vaikasi Amavasai purappadu 2022

We want to live well – we want money, we want riches - So is life all about being rich and wealthy ! – having more than what most others have makes us feel proud and  superior !!

வாழ்க்கையின் குறிக்கோள் தான் யாது ?  நம்மில் பலருக்கு, செல்வங்கள் சேர்த்தல் .. .. அதாவது நிறைய பணம் ஈட்டல்.  படிப்பு, வேலை, வியாபாரம் என அனைத்துமே பொருள் ஈட்டும் வழிகள்.  பணம் சேர்க்க வேண்டும். நன்றாக வசதிகளை அனுபவித்து சுகபோகத்துடன் ஆனந்தமாக இருக்க வேண்டும்.  ஆனந்தம் ! - கார், பங்களா, வேலையாட்கள், குளிர் சத்தான கருவிகள், குளிர் பதன கருவிகள், உயர்ந்த உணவு, பதவி, மற்றோர் பொறுமைப்படும் வாழ்க்கை.  இப்படி ஓடும் ஓட்டத்தில், நம்மை விட உயரத்தில் (நாம் நினைப்பது) இருப்போர் - ஆனந்தமாக இருக்கிறார்கள் !  நாமோ துயரத்தில் உழல்கிறோம் !! . 

Being rich is simply having a lot of money or income. To many of us, it boils to how much of cash we possess.  By many yardsticks, mere possession of money or gold would not make one wealthy !!   some are rich, have a fancy car, amazing house equipped with modern gadgets, living in the best part of the town – still some could be expending more than what they are earning.   Often we read about celebrities going broke because of their rich lifestyles. When we grew up there was rivalry in tinseldom between two stars -  both of them acted in hundreds of movies and earned crores; in later years more stars rose – but where would all that crores go and how do they too become bankrupt !!

Read in a magazine that - Stanley Kirk Burrell  better known by stagename - MC Hammer at one point had $30 million in the bank, a $1 million house with 200 staff members, and a horse stable with 19 racehorses. But all those expenses took a toll and all that spending (along with a number of lawsuits), resulted in Hammer declaring bankruptcy in 1996. He ended up in $13 million in debt.  It’s about amassing assets and making your money work for you.  .. .. and this also does not endorse the Cinema cliché that ‘poor live happily while rich people are unhappy’ – I would not agree with that statement.

Wealth is the abundance of valuable financial assets or physical possessions which can be converted into a form that can be used for transactions. The modern concept of wealth is of significance in all areas of economics, and clearly so for growth economics and development economics, yet the meaning of wealth is context-dependent.  Often the index for wealthy is -  Forbes World's Billionaires List.  In the year 2022, War, pandemic and sluggish markets hit the world’s billionaires - 2,668 of them are on Forbes’ 36th-annual ranking of the planet’s richest people—87 fewer than a year ago. They’re worth a collective $12.7 trillion—$400 billion less than in 2021. The most dramatic drops have occurred in Russia, where there are 34 fewer billionaires than last year following Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine, and China, where a government crackdown on tech companies has led to 87 fewer Chinese billionaires on the list. Still, Forbes found more than 1,000 billionaires who are richer than they were a year ago. And 236 newcomers have become billionaires over the past year—including the first ever from Barbados, Bulgaria, Estonia and Uruguay. America still leads the world, with 735 billionaires worth a collective $4.7 trillion, including Elon Musk, who tops the World’s Billionaires list for the first time.  

Long ago, Adam Smith wrote of the origin and use of money : With division of labour, the produce of one's own labour can fill only a small part of one's needs. Different commodities have served as a common medium of exchange, but all nations have finally settled on metals, which are durable and divisible, for this purpose. Before coinage, people had to weigh and assay with each exchange, or risk "the grossest frauds and impositions." Thus nations began stamping metal, on one side only, to ascertain purity, or on all sides, to stipulate purity and amount.  An Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations, generally referred to by its shortened title The Wealth of Nations, is the magnum opus of the Scottish economist and moral philosopher Adam Smith.  

In life some point, most of us realize that ‘becoming wealthy is not the only or ultimate goal’ – financial targets are never reachable.  For when we get nearer, we tend to revise them !!  Unlike ordinary mortals, Swami Nammalwar has no doubts on wealth and riches – to him – Sriman Narayana is the only wealth – it is Him who cannot be thought of as this or not that.  HE has  the most powerful sentient as also insentient in high or low.  It is our good fortune, if we understand Him, fall at His lotus feet, with a clear understanding that He is Omnipresent.

எம்பெருமான் ஸ்ரீமந்நாரணன் பரம்புருடன்; அனைத்தையும் உடையவன்; அனைத்து நன்மைகளும் தர வல்லன்.  எம்பெருமானுடைய ஐச்வரியத்தை எப்படி தான் பேசக்கடவதென்றால் நிலனிடை விசும்பிடை உருவினனருவினன் என்று பேசவேணுமென்கிறார் ஸ்வாமி நம்மாழ்வார் தமது திருவாய்மொழி முதல் பத்து பாசுரத்தில் : 

இலனது உடையனிது என நினைவரியவன்

நிலனிடை விசும்பிடை உருவினன் அருவினன்

புலனொடு புலனலன் , ஒழிவிலன், பரந்த

அந்நலனுடை ஒருவனை நணுகினம் நாமே. 

எம்பெருமான் ஸ்ரீமந்நாராயணன் ,  வேதபுருஷன்  'ஸர்வஸ்வாமி' -  பூமி முதல்  பாதாளம் வரையிலுள்ள கீழுலகங்களிலும், எல்லா விதத்திலும் எத்தனையுண்டோ அவற்றையெல்லாம்  உடையவன்.  ஒழிவு இல்லதவனாய் வியாபித்தவன்; ஸகல வஸ்துக்களிலும் வியாபித்து இருப்பவன்; எல்லாவற்றிலும்  ஸர்வகாலங்களிலும் வியாபித்து இருப்பவன்.  எந்த பொருளும் - தனக்கு  இல்லாதவனென்றோ, உடையன் என்றோ  நினைப்பதற்கு அருமைப்பட்டவனாகியும், பூமி முதலான  உலகங்களிலும், விண் எனும் ஆகாசம் முதலான (மேல்) உலகங்களிலும் உறைந்து பரந்து இருப்பவன்.   ரூபியான அசேதநப் பொருள்களையுடையவனாகியும், ரூபியற்ற  சேதனர்களையுடையவனாகியும்  விஷயமாகிற பொருள்களோடு கலந்து நின்றாலும் -  அவன் புலன்களுக்கு விஷயமாகாதவனாகியும் எபபொழுதும் எங்கும் வியாபித்திருக்கிற கல்யாண குணங்களையுடைய ஒப்பற்ற எம்பெருமானை நாம் கிட்டப்பெற்றோம் - என ஆனந்திக்கின்றார் ஸ்வாமி நம்மாழ்வார்.

30^th May 2022 was Vaikasi Amavasai and in the evening there was grand purappadu of Sri Parthasarthi along with periya mada veethigal of Thiruvallikkeni and We were fortunate to have darshan of HIM.
