Glory to num Iramanusan !  ~ the Sahasrabdipoorthi Brahmothsavam of Acaryar Sri Ramanujar is now on ~ today it was day 2 and here are some photos of purappadu in the morning at Thiruvallikkeni.  To us our Acaryan is everywhere !

நயவேன் ஒரு தெய்வம் நானிலத்தே சில மானிடத்தைப்*

புயலே எனக்கவி போற்றிசெய்யேன், பொன்னரங்கமென்னில்

மயலே பெருகும் இராமனுசன்  மன்னு மாமலர்த்தாள்*

அயரேன் அருவினை என்னையெவ்வாறின்றடர்ப்பதுவே?

Thiruvarangathu Amuthanar in his glorious work contemplates that he shall seldom offer workship to any other God on earth, will not praise some mortal with high sounding words like  ‘you are akin to a cloud that gives rain’ – one shall never forget the lotus feet of our Acharyar  Sri Ramanujar who unbountiful love flows like a cloud on the mere mention of holy Thiruvarangam.  To those, karma can never approach nor do any harm.

Sri Ramanujar Hamsa vahanam 2018

On the evening of day 1 Sri Ramanujar had purappadu in Hamsa vahanam.  Last year for the Sahasrabdi – it was   the big heavy golden   ‘Hamsa Vahanam’ in the evening .  The Thiruvallikkeni Hamsa vahanam is one of the heaviest among the vahanams.  The bird Hamsa  is known for its purity and powers.  Appearing here is the photo of last year and rest taken today (12.4.18)

“மின்னுமாமழை தவழும் மேகவண்ணா *  விண்ணவர்தம் பெருமானே! அருளாயென்று அன்னமாய் முனிவரோடு அமரரேத்த *   அருமறையை வெளிப்படுத்த அம்மான் தன்னை"........சர்வேஸ்வரன் முனிவர்களும் தேவர்களும் ஸ்தோத்திரம் செய்ததற்கு இணங்கி ஹம்சரூபியாய் அவதரித்து அருமையான வேதங்களை வெளிப்படுத்தி அருளினார். 

Our Srivaishnavism hails Ubhaya Vedantha – there are philosophies restricted to having their scriptures in either Sanskrit or Tamil ~ Sri Vaishnavism has Sanskrit and dravida vedantha in equal parlance. .. .. and we have the noblest of preceptors  - Swami Ramanujar – the King of all hermits guiding us the path.   

                நம்மிராமாநுசர்   :  சொல்லார் தமிழ் ஒரு மூன்றும்; சுருதிகள் நான்கும்; எல்லை இல்லா அறநெறி யாவும் தெரிந்தவர் என திருவரங்கத்து அமுதனாலே போற்றப்படுபவர்.    Thiruvarangathu Amuthanar hails Ramanuja as a master of Prose, Poetry, Drama in Tamil; all the four Sanskrit Vedas and all inclusive countless Dharma Sastras.

The Greatest to descend as a human being on this earth, Swami Ramanuja Charya neatly chronicled and documented in as many terms the VisishtAdvaita sampradAya. The works of all other acharyas followed his footsteps. Thus our darsanam is fondly known “Emperumanar darsanam” or “Ramanuja Darsanam”. The concept of Sarangati as developed by aAlwargal, Nathamunigal, Alavandar was also documented by Ramanuja both in text and practice. 

Blessed are we to be living and have the fortune of partaking in Swami Udayavar uthsava celebrations.   Here are some photos taken during evening purappadu at Thiruvallikkeni divyadesam.

Sri Ramanujar Sahasrabdi Poorthi (1001) ~ 2018 : ** ஸ்ரீ ராமானுஜோ விஜயதே யதிராஜ ராஜ: **

Sri Ramanujar Sahasrabdi Poorthi (1001) ~ 2018

Blessed are We, the present generation –  we grandly celebrated on  1^st May 2017,  Thiruvathirai nakshathiram in the month of Chithirai ~ great sigifinicance for it marked a very special  birthday of our greatest Acharyar Swami Ramanujar ~ commemorating the  1000^th year. 

‘Ananthah sarasi dhere  Ramye  Bhoothapurivare’ – on the bank of Ananthasaras the temple pushkarini, is the temple of Sri Adhi Kesavar.   Boothapuri, better known now as Sri Perumpudur is the most divine place for us –  the place where our Greatest Acharyar “Emperumanaar, Bashyakarar” the reincarnation of Aadi Sesha and Sri Lakshmanar was born,  in the year 1017  to Kesava Somayaji and Gandhimathi couples.   Ilayavalwar as he was known at birth, Ramanujar was born in the year of grace of Pingala corresponding to year 939 of Salivahana era  and lived for a period of 120 years.   He was named Illayazhwar [denoting Lakshmana] by his uncle Srisaila Purnar foreseeing his wisdom, infinity and eternity.  

He paid his first visit to Thiruvarangam in his 25^th year but could only pay homage to Acharyar Alavanthar.  He lived and taught undisturbed in Srirangam for some more decades before had to leave the place proceeding to Melukote Thirunarayanapuram.

Our Srivaishnavism hails Ubhaya Vedanta – there are philosophies restricted to having their scriptures in either Sanskrit or Tamil ~ Sri Vaishnavism has Sanskrit and dravida vedantha in equal parlance. .. .. and we have the noblest of preceptors  - Swami Ramanujar – the King of all hermits guiding us the path.   Our darsana Sthapakar, Sri Ramanujar rightly reverred as ‘Yathi Rajar’ ~ the king among yathis [hermits and sages, the greatest reformer he was, Ramanuja gave us many vedantic treatises - toured the entire Country, making the Srivaishnavatie tradition flourish in all his path.  Of those who remained closest to Sri Ramanuja – Sri  Mudaliandan, Sri Koorathazhwan, Sri Embar,  Sri Ananthazhwan, Arulalaperumal Emperumanar, Kidambi Achaan, Thirukurugai Piraan Pillan, Thiruvarangathu Amuthanar and more.  Worshipping Sri Ramanujar will cure us of all sins and can there by a better time for doing it  than now. 

**   ஸ்ரீ ராமானுஜோ விஜயதே யதிராஜ ராஜ:  **

“Sree Ramanujo Vijayathe – Yathiraja Rajaha”

– the concluding lines of ‘Thadi (dhaTee) Panchakam’ – rendered by Swami Mudaliandan, which speaks of the  victory of Swami Ramanuja over other philosophies and his establishing the Visishtadvaita philosophy that was built by Azhwars and Purvacharyas.  In those golden days when Swami Emperumanar walked on the streets of Thiruvarangam and other Divyadesams – tens of thousands of his disciples and hundreds of Jeeyars followed him hailing “Ramanujo Vijayathe – Yathiraja Rajaha” 

There exists one and only all embracing Being called Brahman or the highest Self ~ the Lord = Sriman Narayana.  He is endowed with all auspicious qualities, all pervading, all knowing, all powerful and all merciful.  His nature is fundamentally antagonistic to all evil [akhilaheya pratyanika] ~ the greatest  commentary to Badrayana’s Vedanta sutra preaches us.   

From today (12^th Apr 2018) starts the grand Uthsavam of Acharyar Ramanujar [sahasrabdi poorthi  – hailing the completion of 1000 years] 1000^th year] ~ the  festivities are On at various places across the globe – at Thiruvallikkeni in the 10 day long Uthsavam, Udayavar will have purappadu both in the morning and in the evening.  Sarrumurai will be on 21^st Apr 2018.

Celebrate the birth of Swami Ramanujar.  Falling at the feet of Udayavar is the only way, we cleanse and lift ourselves towards higher things – the kainkaryam to Lord.

ThiruNinravur Brahmothsavam 2018 ~ the people !!

ThiruNinravur is a beautiful divyadesam – one can easily reach this Temple as it is well connected from Chennai and from neighbouring Thiruvallur by bus ~ more so by train as it is on Arakonam railway, and other than Express trains – all DMUs stop here.  The temple is around 1.5 km away from the station – bus, autos are available and one can walk the distance too. 

Moolavar here is in standing posture ‘Sri Patharavi Perumal also known as PatharavipPerumal;  Thayar is Ennai Perra thayar who granted boons to Samuthira Rajan. The Emperuman at this kshetram is greatly benevolent and grants boons satisfying the wishes of devotees.  Kubera, who had lost his wealth, offered prayers to the Goddess here and regained all his riches and hence called Kuberapuram. This temple though under HR&CE is administered by Thirumala Periya Jeeyar Mutt.

I had posted in detail on day 6 purappadu of the Brahmothsavam – uthsavams are for the people – those in rural places are made attractive by the presence of people.  Here are some more  photos taken during the uthsavam.
