Thieves try to rob hundial at Thiruvadi Kovil, Thiruvallikkeni

The Greatest of Ithihasa purana ‘Sri Ramayanam’  is the undiluted history of the Greatest Person who descended on this Universe, on the banks of river Sarayu, in a prosperous country called ‘Koshala’.  In the immortal Ramayana, there are learning of life ….. ~ and there is also a great character – a warrior, mightily powerful, whose body was as hard as a diamond, whose speed equalled those of fastest flying eagles, who possessed great wisdom, who could organize a group of roaming ones, who can jump hundreds of miles, yet who remained at the feet of his Master, totally committed thinking of their welfare alone – unassuming, yet capable of telling the right things at the right moment – that is Pavana Puthra Hanuman – Aanjaneya, who is called ‘siriya thiruvadi’ – bearer of Lord Rama – who carried Rama on his shoulders during the war in which the demon was killed.

At Thiruvallikkeni divyadesam – there is a sannathi for Aanjaneyar right in front of the sannathi of Lord Rama and he has purappadu with Perumal and Nammalwar during Irapathu Uthsavam on Hanumath Jayanthi day.  There is another temple of  Hanuman situate at East Tank Square Street, on the banks of Kairavini pushkarini, adjacent to which Sri Vanamamalai Mutt is located.

This temple (under Sri Parthasarathi Swami devasthanam) is in news for wrong reasons as reported in the Hindu and Dinamalar of date.  It is stated that thieves attempted to break open the temple hundial on Friday night – the crime reportedly came to light when the staff at the sannithi opened the main door in the morning.  The side door where bakthas do pradakshinam was found open and hundial damaged. The temple officials have lodged complaint with Ice House Police Station – finger prints were taken from the spot.  Police suspect that thieves must have gained entry through the rear side of the temple and reportedly had instructed the temple authorities to install CCtv.  The extent of loss is not reported – sad that security has been breached, criminals have gained access inside a locked temple.

Adiyen Srinivasa dhasan.
