celebrating Bhagwan Sree Krishna and His fav ghee - Aani Rohini 2022

One of the childhood exploits of Lord Krishna was breaking curd pots and stealing butter .. .. this photo has been circulating in social media for years but dates back to year 2015.    Ahead of the launch of the show 'Krishan Kanhaiya', SAB TV unveiled this  unique idol of Krishna – made  430 kilos of butter.  It was stated that it  took several artisans and 300 hours of hard work to carve the 15 foot sculpture.  The butter statue sits in a glass enclosure with temperatures regulated under 15 degrees to prevent it from melting. Weighing around 800 kilos, the structure was  displayed in a mall in Andheri, Mumbai

In our Samprathaya, Ghee and butter have a high place.  Ghee is a clarified butter. It is commonly used in Indian and Middle Eastern cuisine, as a traditional medicine, and for religious rituals.  Clarified butter is milk fat rendered from butter to separate the milk solids and water from the butterfat.  Typically, it is produced by melting butter and allowing the components to separate by density. The water evaporates, some solids (i.e. whey proteins) float to the surface and are skimmed off, and the remainder of the milk solids (casein) sink to the bottom and are left behind when the butterfat (which would then be on top) is poured off or separated with a separatory funnel or a gravy fat separator. This butterfat is the clarified butter.

The usage of ghee dates back to Vedic days.   Rig Veda has verses that list the importance of Ghee. According to   Puranas, Ghee was first formed when demi-god Prajapati Daksha created it by rubbing his palms. He then offered it to the fire through which his offspring were born.  In Temples, lamp with ghee is lit.     The brightness of the flame   bestows us with education and knowledge. The heat from the flame  burns away and destroys all evil.   Ghee disperses its aroma in the air quickly and purifies it In Ayurveda, the Indian traditional medicine system, Ghee is used for many ailments. Ghee has tremendous nutritional value.

Ants are common insects, but they have some unique capabilities. More than 10,000 known ant species live in this World. They are  prevalent in tropical forests, where they may be up to half of all the insects living in some locations. Enthusiastically social insects, ants typically live in structured nest communities that may be located underground, in ground-level mounds, or in trees. Carpenter ants nest in wood and can be destructive to buildings.   Larger colonies consist of various castes of sterile, wingless females, most of which are workers (ergates), as well as soldiers (dinergates) and other specialised groups. The colonies are described as superorganisms because the ants appear to operate as a unified entity, collectively working together to support the colony.

Yellow crazy ants are among the world's worst invasive species, according to the International Union for Conservation of Nature. They don't bite or sting but spray formic acid, which can cause reactions. These ants - their scientific name is Anoplolepis gracilipes - are usually found in tropical and sub tropical regions. They move in an erratic, uncoordinated way, with their movement becoming more frantic when disturbed.  Recently, there was news of their spreading in  some villages in Tamil Nadu, in the hilly region around the Karanthamalai forest in Dindigul district. Most people here are farmers or cattle owners. The villagers were quoted as saying that they have seen these ants in the forest over the past few years. But this is the first time they have appeared in such large numbers in the villages, throwing life out of gear.  Cattle herders who lived near the forest say they have vacated their settlements due to the infestation. Experts are worried that proliferation of these insects could affect the ecology of the region. When these ants first invaded Australia's Christmas Island, they displaced native ants by attacking them and taking over their food sources; they also killed millions of red crabs on the island by blinding and incapacitating them.

Ants are attracted to a variety of foods, and they may appear any time during the year for this reason.  Sweet foods are known to attract ants at higher rates than other foods. This includes syrup, soft drinks, fruits and various other sugar products.  There is some belief that though they are attracted to ghee, they are not attracted to cheese or butter.
