Sri Azhagiya Singar Simha vahanam 2021 ~

The lion (Panthera leo) is one of the five big cats in the genus Panthera and a member of the family Felidae.   For all of their roaring, growling, and ferociousness, lions are family animals and truly social – however, from time immemorial they are known for their strength and power. The powerfully built Lion, belong to  cat family Felidae!  Lions are most active at night and live in a variety of habitats.    They usually live in groups of 15 or more animals called prides. Prides can be as small as 3 or as big as 40 animals. In a pride, lions hunt prey, raise cubs, and defend their territory together.

Kumaragupta I  was a great Emperor, son of Chandragupta II and queen Dhruvadevi,  his territory extended from Gujarat in the west to Bengal region in the east.  Kumaragupta bore the titles Maharajadhiraja, Parama-bhattaraka, and Paramadvaita. He also adopted the title Mahendraditya, and his coins call him by several variants of this name, this coin depicting King killing a lion is famous.

Taming a lion or hunting it is considered a virtue all along.  Lion represents power and domineering it – humans considers valorous.  At Thiruvallikkeni divyadesam, in the ongoing  special Brahmothsavamn of Sri Azhagiya Singar, today it was Simha vahanam.

In the evening of day 2 [3.3.2021] ]   at Thiruvallikkeni, it was the majestic Simha [lion] as vahanam.  The most beautiful, powerful,  gracious Sri Azhagiyasingar had purappadu atop ‘simham’ and gave darshan to devotees.

BoothathAzhwaar says ~:  Oh foolish people living in this earthly World – don’t spend your time in pleasing ordinary mortals and making your stomach the veritable place for all and sundry food – don’t waste time speaking on the useless people and more so of their sins.   Without wandering, recite the names of Lord whose   four arms stretched into the eight Quarters.  Serve HIM become the propagators of the Holy Sriman Narayana.

Here are some photos of today’s Simha vahana purappadu.
