Aesthetics,  is a branch of philosophy that deals with the nature of beauty and taste, as well as the philosophy of art. It examines subjective and sensori-emotional values, or sometimes called judgments of sentiment and taste.  On searching stumbled upon the following :  Beauty  -  the quality or aggregate of qualities in a person or thing that gives pleasure to the senses or pleasurably exalts the mind or spirit : Loveliness !!   .

Cleanser, moisturizer, concealer, eyeshadow, mascara, powder. Repeat. Does this routine sound familiar? Many women have a regimented daily beauty routine that consists of cabinets full of assorted skincare, haircare and makeup products. Women  and many men too, use a lot of beauty products in an effort to make themselves feel and look better.  There have been cries that  using more products causes increased exposure to a wider variety of harmful chemicals and that these are promoted by Corporates who have deep-dwelled in to minds of people by advertisements, Beauty shows and more that superficial beauty is the most important thing in life.    Beauty pageants value superficial beauty. There is a question where participants  get to show their  sympathy for the poor and the oppressed, and a talent contest yet it is more of physical beauty and dressing including   a swimsuit.

Perhaps there could never be an apt definition of ‘beauty !’ – it is the  quality present in a thing or person that gives intense pleasure or deep satisfaction to the mind, whether arising from sensory manifestations or something else.   Beauty has varied throughout time, various cultures and the vast different perceptions of the world. Beauty has been described and depicted through pictures and concepts penetrating our minds. Beauty has been defined in so many ways.  Beauty is happiness. Beauty is often distorted, misunderstood and shadowed by a wide amount of conflicting pressures.   .. .. beauty is the one that makes you forget everything and feel very blissful, forgetting your surroundings, your present state of affairs and more ! beauty gives tranquility and peace of mind. .. ..        ……….

Researchers have succeeded in making an AI understand our subjective notions of what makes faces attractive. The device demonstrated this knowledge by its ability to create new portraits on its own that were tailored to be found personally attractive to individuals. The results can be utilised, for example, in modelling preferences and decision-making as well as potentially identifying unconscious attitudes.  Ultimately, the study may benefit society by advancing the capacity for computers to learn and increasingly understand subjective preferences, through interaction between AI solutions and brain-computer interfaces.

Away from all this – today 6^th Mar 2021 is day 5 of Sri Thelliya Singar  Special i brahmothsavam – providing us  darshan of  the most beautiful  enrapturing Azhagiya Singar   in “Nachiyar Thirukkoalam” – dressed as Ezhilmigu Thayar in a grand sitting posture.....Srimannarayana- the ever merciful Lord is always our esteemed protector. He is our Rakshak. He is glorified in the Vedas as the Supreme entity. He is "Veda Mudalvan". The sublime beauty and oozing benevolence as exceptionally visible in the Thirumugam [face] of Perumal – Nachiyar.  Day 5 is that day where one would feel this life is not enough – one may feel like being with the Emperuman throughout – those days, the morning purappadu would starts  around 0600 am – mandagappadi at Saraswathi bandaram / Nampillai sannithi (Komutti bungalow); Thavana Uthsava bungalow;  Nataraja Stores;  Gangaikondan mantap;  Kuthirai vahana mantapam;  kulakkarai Hanumar temple; Sri Yadugiri Yatiraja mantap;  Swami Nammalwar sannathi, Andal Sannathi .. .. and in yester years there was  Krishnan kovil at Sunkuwar; tranquilty at Vasantha uthsava bungalow (its vast expanse mesmerizing); kannadi pallakku mantap;   .. .. and purappadu culminating after South Mada Street – it might take around 6 hours + for completion.

Being day 5, it is Swami Nammalwar’s Thiruvirutham, the essence of Rig veda in the morning purappadu.  Nammalwar experiencing ‘Parankusanayaki’ expressing  her attachment to the immortal Sriman Narayana and that perhaps is the reason for Nachiyar thirukolam on this morning purappadu. “that beautiful skyblue silk saree with mustard and yellow border !” .....  the beautiful women of Thiruvallikkeni circled  around to have darshan of Him, look and envy the best of silk saree tastefully worn (some may debate on the colour / border combination !)  - among the dazzling ornaments the  ‘pavalam’[red coral] was– simply marvellous.  With the golden parrot  ensconced above the abhaya hastham of Nachiyar, it was grace personified and karunyam oozing.     More than the ornate style of dressing, it is always His  benevolence [karunyam] showering blessings to His devotees.  

ஐந்தாம் நாள் புறப்பாட்டில்  ஸ்ரீ அழகிய சிங்க பெருமாளின் அழகு சௌந்தர்யம் வார்த்தைகளால் விவரிக்கமுடியாதது. கருத்துக்கு மிக எளியனான அப்பெருமாளின் கருணைமிகுந்த திருக்கோலத்தை காண பக்தர்களுக்கு ஆசை வருவது இயல்பு.  பெருமாள் தனது வாத்சல்யம், சௌலப்யம் போன்ற கல்யாணகுணங்களை எல்லாம் நமக்கு அருளி, மிகஅழகாக குத்துக்காலிட்டு அமர்ந்து அபயஹஸ்தத்துடன் காட்சிதரும் எழில்மிகு திருக்கோலமே  நாச்சியார்திருக்கோலம்.  

திருவல்லிக்கேணியில் எல்லா பெரிய உத்சவங்களிலும் ஐந்தாம்நாள் ஸ்வாமி நம்மாழ்வார் அருளிச்செய்த 'திருவிருத்தம்' சேவிக்கப்பெறுகிறது. ருக்வேதசாரமான திருவிருத்தம்   100 பாடல்கள் கொண்ட  அந்தாதி;  கட்டளைக் கலித்துறை பாடல்களால்  ஆனது. நம்மாழ்வார் ஆழ்வார் ஆற்றாமை அதிகரித்துத் தாமான தன்மையழந்து 'நாயகியாய்' தம்மை பாவித்து பிராட்டி நிலைமையடைந்து ‘பராங்குச நாயகி’யானார்.  நாயகன் ஆன எம்பெருமானின் ரூப வைலக்ஷண்யமுரைத்த பாசுரம் இது:

 

கண்ணும் செந்தாமரை கையும் அவை அடியோ  அவையே*

வண்ணம் கரியது ஓர் மால்வரை போன்று மதிவிகற்பால்*

விண்ணும் கடந்து உம்பர் அப்பால் மிக்கு மற்று எப்பால் எவர்க்கும்*

எண்ணும் இடத்ததுவோ எம்பிரானது எழில் நிறமே?
