Sri Kulasekara Azhwar Sarrumurai 2019 @ Thiruvallikkeni

Today,  17^th Feb 2019   - is ‘Punarvasu (punarpoosam) nakshathiram’ in the month of ‘Maasi’ – the Thiruavathara thirunaal of Sri Kulasekhara Azhwaar.  He was the amsam of ‘kausthubam’ – the jewel adorning Sriman Narayana.  He was born at Thiruvanjikulam as son of King Thiruviradhan and ruled the Chera Empire.  He was greatly devoted to Rama and ‘Ramayana’ and reverred Sri Vaishnavaites with devotion. Kulasekarar was born at Thiruvanjikalam.  

இன்று  ஸ்ரீவைணவர்களுக்கு சீரிய நாள்.  'மாசி புனர்வசு' - கௌஸ்துபம் அம்சமாய் தோன்றிய சேரலர் கோன்' குலசேகராழ்வார்' அவதரித்த  நந்நாள்.  குலசேகரர் சேர நாட்டில் திருவஞ்சிக்களத்தில் - திருவிரதன் என்ற மன்னனுக்கு மகனாய் அவதரித்தார். 

Recently had the fortune fo worshipping at this holy place – and in the morning have posted at length on this holy abhimana sthalam – the birth place of Alwar.  At Thiruvallikkeni, with some exceptions, on every sarrumurai day of Azhwar, Acaryas, there will be purappadu with Sri Parthasarathi perumal.  Some years, Kulasekarar sarrumurai would fall during Thavana uthsavam ~ in which case, Alwar would accompany Perumal in the morning, have thirumanjanam at Thavana Uthsava bungalow and have evening purappadu as well.

  

Today is more special ! ~ today marks Shukla baksha dwadasi in the month of Masi too ~ on this day occurs the marriage of divine thampathi Sri Vedavalli Thayar with Sri Mannathar.  Today for this grand occasion, Sri Kulasekara azhwar had purappadu with Sri Ranganathar.  In the divyaprabandha goshti – it was Iramanusa Noorranthathi (which is rendered for all sarrumurai purappadus) but Andal’s Nachiyar Thirumozhi. 

Kulasekarar exudes exceptional bakthi – and his commitment is astounding. Here is a verse from Perumal thirumozhi in praise of Lord Ranganatha.

மெய்யில் வாழ்க்கையை மெய்யெனக் கொள்ளும்

இவ்வையந் தன்னொடும் கூடுவதில்லையான்

ஐயனே அரங்கா என்றழைக்கின்றேன்

மையல் கொண்டொழிந்தேனென்றன் மாலுக்கே

Kulasekara  Azhwar the King of Thiruvanzikalam  in his emotive address to Lord Ranganatha laments his misfortune of having to live and mix with people who derive pleasure in material world and consider corporeal life as real.  He yearns to utter the divyanamams of Lord Ranganatha – the Lord at Thiruvarangam and expresses his boundless love for the Lord who cares for His devotees…

மெய்யில் வாழ்க்கை ~ இவ்வுலகத்தில் உள்ள பொருட்ச்செல்வம் என கருதப்படுபவையோடு, பொருந்தி வாழ்வதையே, உண்மை எனக்கொள்ளும்  - இவ்வுலகத்தாரோடு சேர எனக்கு விருப்பம் இல்லை !  பரம்பொருளான ஸ்ரீமன் நாராயணனை  ~  திருவரங்கா, ‘ஸ்ரீரங்கநாதனே!’ என மனமுருகி உந்தன் நாமங்களை அழைத்து, பக்தர்களிடத்தில் வாத்ஸல்யமுடைய எம்பெருமான்  மீதே மையல் கொண்டொழிந்தேன் ~ என்கிறார் குலசேகர ஆழ்வார்.
