Andal Thiruvadipura Uthsavam at Thiruvallikkeni - day 2 - 2015

For Srivaishnavaites, the month of Aadi is of special significance – as Thiruvadipuram  [Puram Nakshathiram in the month of Aadi] –  is the  most blessed day for all Srivaishnavaites –  marking  the birth of Kothai Piratti [Andal]

Andal’s birth occurred in the 98th year of Kali Yuga – Nala Varudam – in the month of Aadi – shukla paksham – chathurthasi day.   She was found in a thulsi garden at  Sri Villiputhur by Vishnu Chithar [Periyazhwaar].

This year Thiruvadipuram falls on Sunday, 16^th Aug 2015. The 10 day Thiruvadipura Uthsavam commenced yesterday and today [8^th  Aug 2015] is day 2.  During Thiruvadipuram, on all days there is purappadu of Sri Andal in the evenings.   Here are some photos taken during today’s purappadu
