Thondaradipodi Azhwar Sarrumurai at Thiruvallikkeni

No body would do mistakes, if they are humble and realize that ‘life on earth is short’ and can come to an end very suddenly.   It is another matter that who firmly follow Sriman Narayana would never indulge in wrong activities.

Today 9th Jan 2013 is all important day – being the Kettai Nakshathiram in the month of Margazhi. It marks the birth anniversary of Bhaktanghri renu swami, named on birth as Vipra Narayanar, one whose life was immersed in total devotion and humbleness better known as ‘Thondaradippodi Azhwar’.  He  was born in a small village by name 'Thiru mandaggudi' in Prabhava year, Margazhi month, in Kettai (Jyestha) Nakshatram (star). His father ‘Veda Visaradhar’ belonged to "Kudumi Sozhiyap Brahmanar" community also called as "Vipra" people, whose routine work is to praise about Sri Vishnu. As per lore, Vishwaksena, the commander-in-chief of Sri Vishnu's troop, once descended to earth and revealed to Vipranarayanar,  the reason for his birth and what needs to be done to attain Mukti. He constructed a big Nandhavanam (garden where flowers for the Lord are grown) at Thiruvarangam.

He gave us two divyaprabandhams ~ ‘Thirumalai” and “Thirupalliyezhuchi”.  Thirupalli Ezhuchi are the hymns for waking up the Lord.  Azhwar starts with description of the morning scenario whence Sun has embraced the top of the mountain on the eastern side, darkness is dispelled, honey starts flowing from the flowers… and the Lord Ranganathar exclaimed as ‘Arangathamma’ is called upon to get up and shower his benevolence on the humans.

Azhwar describes himself as a person standing before the Lord with the flower container [pook koodai] in his shoulders and neatly strung ‘Thiruthuzhai maalai’ on his hands waiting for the benevolence of Lord Ranganathar.

Here are some photos taken at Thiruvallkkeni during the sarrumurai purappadu of Thondaradipodigal with Sri Parthasarathi Swami.  Sri Parthasarathi had Muthu kireedam [Pearl crown] and adorned vrichi flower; which was worn by Alwar also.
