SREE RAMANAVAMI - GARUDA SEVAI TODAY

Lord Rama descended on earth for the purpose of upholding righteousness and rewarding virtue. His life is the subject of The Ramayana. Rama lived the life of perfection and responsibility. Maryadha Purush Sree Rama is the important incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Ramayana is the greatest Ithihasa detailing the life and journey of the immortal Perfect man’s adherence to dharma despite harsh tests of life and time. Lord Rama is the epitome of all virtues and the perfect heman being who abandoned the throne and served exile in the forest for the sake of honour of his beloved father.

He is a Suryavanshi (descendant of SUN). Vishnupurana mentions Brahma creating Daksha, Aditi the mother of Sun was the daughter of Daksha. From Sun was born Manu, Ishwaku and ……….. Rama. Sage Valmiki was a contemporary of Rama and has penned an authentic historical account of Ramayana, the story of Maryadha Purush.

Sri Rama Navami is a great day for all devotees as Lord Rama was born on the Navami thithi of Shukla Paksha of Chaitra masa (i.e., 9th day of the increasing phase of the moon in the lunar month of Chaitra). Astrologers say that at the time of Rama’s birth, the nakshatra was Punarvasu, and Sun, Mars, Saturn, Jupiter and Venus were in Aries, Capricorn, Libra, Cancer and Pisces respectively. Lagna was Cancer and Jupiter & Moon were shining together. -- Ramayana 1.18.8,9. it is firmly believed that such configuration of constellations occurred in 5114 BC.

The appearance of Lord Rama on earth is a day of great of celebration. Navami or nine day festivals mark the occasion and the festivities start nine days prior to the day of Sri Rama Navami. The celebrations are on and today marks the third day. This morning Lord Rama on Garuda vahanam gave darshan at Triplicane and here are some photos of the Utsavam.
It will give immense punyam not only in the present world but would also help in the other world also, whenever we think and utter the name ‘Rama’.
