Mamunigal Uthsavam 2022 - 2 : மாமுனிகள் மழைச்சாமி - கற்றோர்கள் தாமுகப்பர்

அக்டோபர் 18 ஐப்பசி பிறந்தது .. .. அடிக்கடி மழை பெய்கிறது.. .. சீதோஷ்ணம் மிதமாக உள்ளது - மொத்தத்தில் ஒரு சந்தோஷ சூழ்நிலை.  ஸ்ரீ வைஷ்ணவம் எனும்  ஆலமரம் தழைக்க இராமானுஜரின் மறு அவதாரமாக தோன்றினவர்  நம் ஆச்சார்யன் ஸ்வாமி  மணவாள மாமுனிகள் ~ அவரது திருவவதாரத்தால் இந்த ஐப்பசி மாசம் சிறப்புற்றது.  மாமுனிகள் மழைச்சாமி - நம் ஆசார்யன் உத்சவத்தில் நல்ல மழை பெய்து நாட்டையே வளப்படுத்தும். 

 

The annual 10 day Uthasavam of Sri Manavala Mamunigal is being celebrated very grandly in Thiruvallikkeni and many other divyadesams.  Today is day 2 of the Uthsavam – being Ekadasi,  Swami Mamunigal had purappadu with Sri Parthasarathi Perumal. 

 

கற்றோர்கள் தாமுகப்பர் கல்விதன்னில் ஆசையுள்ளோர்*

பெற்றோமென உகந்து பின்பு கற்பர்* – மற்றோர்கள்

மாச்சரியத்தால் இகழில் வந்ததென் நெஞ்சே * இகழ்கை

ஆச்சர்யமோ தானவர்க்கு !

 

The above are the immortal words of Mamunigal in His ‘Upadesa Rathinamalai’.. literally a  garland consisting of Upadesam [advices] worth more than gems.  Here Swami Manavala Mamunigal also known as ‘Ramyaja Mathru Yogi’  says : 

“ those  persons who are extremely well learned and who know the real meaning and importance of ancient  scriptures  would for sure acknowledge the greatness of these instructions; those who pursue relentlessly to learn and acquire true knowledge will be glad to receive them………. and practice them too.   Alas, in the World there would also be people who would fit into neither of these groups, but would try to ridicule and demean without having the standard to analyse ~ one should only understand that it is their nature to ridicule and their acts are not worthy of notice at all. “ 

முன்னோர் மொழிந்த முறை தப்பாமல் கேட்டு !!  ~  பூர்வாசார்யர்கள் தாமிட்ட உரைகளை மாற்றாமல், அதன்படியே பொருள் உரைத்து, நமக்கு நல்வழி காட்டியவர் நம் சுவாமி மணவாள மாமுனிகள்.  ஸ்ரீவைணவர்கள் ஆகிய நாம் யாரிடத்தில் சரண் அடைகிறோம் ? - அனைத்துலகுமுண்டுமிழ்ந்த பேராழியான் திருத்தாமரைகளிலே !    அவனது பெருமை -  ‘அவன் உபாயமாகுமிடத்து வேறொரு உபாயத்தையும் எதிர்பாராமல் தானே பூர்ணோபாயமாயிருந்துகொண்டு காரியம் தலைக் கட்டவல்லவனாகும் பெருமை'' என்று பட்டர் அருளிச்செய்வராம். 

Mamunigal is fondly known as ‘Yatheendra Pravanar’ arising out of his irresistible attachment to the lotus feet of Sri Ramanujar [Yatheendrar].  Before taking asceticism, Sri Manavala Mamunigal travelled wide and vast to various places and he stayed in Srirangam worshipping Namperumal Srimannathar.  With transformation of Uthama Nambi, Mamunigal grew closer to Namperumal and He started conversing with our Acaryar.     

The Jeeyar who established our Thennacharya Sampradhayam believed and practised the tenet of following the words of early Acharyars as they are [munnor mozhintha murai thappamal kettu]. Mamunigal’s commentaries are characterised by great clearness and completeness of exposition.  He had 8 famous disciples known as Ashtadig Gajas who were to take over the mantle and spread Sampradhayam for posterity.  

We are enjoying the Thiruvavathara uthsavam of Swami Manavala Mamunigal and at Thiruvallikkeni on day 2 –   Mamunigal had purappadu with Sri  Parthasarathi Perumal adorning vajra kreedam and  senkol.   Here are some photos taken during today’s evening purappadu at Thiruvallikkeni divaydesam.
