falling at the feet of Sri Ramanuja - இராமானுசன் புகழ் ஓதும் நல்லோர்

விதவிதமாய் வித்தியாசமாய் கல்யாண பத்திரிகைகள் அடிக்கும் காலமிது.  மனிதனுக்கு முதல் போதை புகழ் ! மன்னர் காலத்தில் இருந்து, அலுவலகமோ, வீடுகளோ, நான்கு பேர் குழுமும் எவ்விடம் ஆனாலும் - மக்களுக்கு தங்களை புகழ்பவர்களையே பிடிக்கும்.  ஒவ்வொரும் எதிர்பார்ப்பது, அளவில்லாமல் ஒருவரைப்பற்றி பாராட்டு புரட்டு வார்த்தைகளே. ஸம்ப்ரதாய பத்திரிகைகளில் விளிப்பது  -  '‘ஸ்ரீமத் வேதமார்க்க ப்ரதிஷ்டாபநாசார்ய உபய வேதாந்தாசார்யராய் எழுந்து அருளி இருக்கும் .. ......... ........ ஸ்வாமி சன்னதியில்' - அடியேன் தாளும் தடக்கையும் கூப்பி விண்ணப்பம்.

Everyday starts with new hopes – one expects that Corona would be contained, there would be fewer cases reported but often one sadly reads of another new peak.  As many as 5,609 new Covid-19 cases were reported in India in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of cases in the country to 1,12,359. 45,300 patients have been cured/discharged.  The country at present is definitely at a lower trajectory in terms of Covid-19 deaths compared to anywhere in the world which means it has contained the transmission of the virus to a great extent, for example the no. of persons affected in Italy is 227,364.  Maharashtra & Tamilnadu continue to frighten us daily – today   776 new Covid cases reported in Tamil Nadu – a very high % of it from Chennai.   With this, the total number of positive cases in the state now stands at 13,967.  Perhaps all the containment and good news is the result of lockdown – and would have been much better, if people had understood and cooperated better BUT what would happen when with all the clamour now, lockdown is relaxed from 1^st June and all people hit the streets and shop around in every cluster !

Prime Minister Narendra Modiji  recently announced a stimulus package for India, worth Rs. 20 trillion — $265 billion, equivalent to about 10% of the country’s GDP. This seemed to fit in with the amounts being spent by some rich OECD economies to deal with the fallout from the Covid-19 pandemic. Equity markets exulted, and today in The Print, generally another media which would always criticize the PM has so much of appreciation for the stimulus package.

In Modi’s India, though, it’s usually wise to wait for the details.    In fact, Modi and his advisers have gotten it right, and governments around the world could learn from their caution. While India’s fast-growing economy faces an unprecedented slowdown thanks to the pandemic — shrinking as much as 45% annualized in the second quarter of 2020, according to Goldman Sachs — spending on everything in sight isn’t the best solution.

India’s policymakers found the correct prescription because they began with the proper diagnosis. A bigger stimulus would have been the right way to address a crisis in aggregate demand. But that’s not India’s problem: Until we figure out the best way to reopen, the country needs less economic activity not more. The real issue is the lockdown imposed to slow the spread of the new coronavirus. Instead of wasting money it doesn’t have, the government has tried to address the problem we do have. Government spending works if no other event, policy or signal can address the coordination problems that underlie a collapse in aggregate demand. In this case, we know there is such a signal: an end to the current emergency. In the interim, what the government needs to do is figure out how to preserve those things that would allow the economy to respond to that signal — lives, businesses and contracts.

To us life is simple – surrender to the lotus feet of Emperuman and for that what would be the better way to reach through Emperumanar.  Boothathazhwar lit lamp of knowledge to dispel the darkness of seeker’s hearts.  Udayavar placed the divine feet of Azhwar in his heart and rejoiced.  The good resolute ones who preserve the dharma of Veda will always sing his praise. 

‘ஸ்ரீமத் வேதமார்க்க ப்ரதிஷ்டாபநாசார்யர்’ எனும் விருது இராமாநுசனுடையார்க்கே ஏற்கும் என நம் கச்சி  சுவாமி உ வே பிரதிவாதி பயங்கரம் அண்ணங்கராச்சார்  சுவாமி  உரைக்கிறார்.  இராமாநுசனை  அடைபவர்கள்தாம் ஸ்ரீமத் வேதமார்க்கப்ரதிஷ்டாபநாசார்யர்கள் என்றபடி.  நம் உடையவர் தலைசிறந்த ஆசார்யர்.  அனைத்து சிறந்த குணங்களையும் கொண்டவர். அதீத கூர்மையான முன்னோக்கு எண்ணங்கள் கொண்டவர்.  திருவரங்கத்து அமுதனார் - நம் இராமானுஜனின் அளப்பரிய பக்தியை இவ்வாறு புகழ்கிறார். 

இறைவனைக் காணும் இதயத் திருள்கெட*  ஞானமென்னும்

நிறை  விளக்கேற்றிய பூதத் திருவடி தாள்கள்*  நெஞ்சத்து

உறையவைத் தாளும்   இராமானுசன்  புகழ் ஓதும்  நல்லோர்*

மறையினைக் காத்து   இந்த மண்ணகத்தே  மன்ன வைப்பவரே.

நாம் செய்ய வேண்டியது ஸ்ரீமந்நாராயணனை வணங்கி, அவனையே  ஹ்ருயத்தினுள் வைத்துக்கொள்வது.  அஜ்ஞாநமாகிற அந்தகாரமானது நசிக்கும்படியாக ஞானம் என்னும் நிறை விளக்கு எற்றிய   இரண்டாந் திருவந்தாதி  அருளிச்செய்த நம்  பூதத்தாழ்வாருடைய திருவடிகளை,  தமது திருவுள்ளத்திலே, சாச்வதமாக உறைய வைத்து,  அவற்றையே அநுபவிக்கின்ற எம்பெருமானாருடைய  திவ்ய குணங்களை இடைவிடாது அநுஸந்திக்கின்ற நல்லோர் இப்பூமண்டலத்திலே,  வேதங்களை ரக்ஷித்து மன்ன வைப்பவர்கள் - என்றைக்கும் அழிவில்லாதபடி  நான்மறைகளையும் அருளிச்செயலையும்  ப்ரதிஷ்டாபனம் பண்ணவல்லவர்கள் மட்டுமே  ‘ஸ்ரீமத் வேதமார்க்க ப்ரதிஷ்டாபநாசார்யர்’ என அழைக்கப்பட வல்லார்கள்.  ஏனையோர் வெறும் மாக்களே !

‘Ananthah sarasi dhere  Ramye  Bhoothapurivare’ – on the bank of Ananthasaras the temple pushkarini, is the temple of Sri Adhi Kesavar.   Boothapuri, better known now as Sri Perumpudur is the most divine place for us –  the place where our Greatest Acharyar “Emperumanaar, Bashyakarar” the reincarnation of Aadi Sesha and Sri Lakshmanar was born,  in the year 1017  to Kesava Somayaji and Gandhimathi couples.   Ilayavalwar as he was known at birth, Ramanujar was born in the year of grace of Pingala corresponding to year 939 of Salivahana era  and lived for a period of 120 years.   He was named Illayazhwar [denoting Lakshmana] by his uncle Srisaila Purnar foreseeing his wisdom, infinity and eternity.  

He paid his first visit to Thiruvarangam in his 25^th year but could only pay homage to Acharyar Alavanthar.  He lived and taught undisturbed in Srirangam for some more decades before had to leave the place proceeding to Melukote Thirunarayanapuram.

Worshipping Sri Ramanujar will cure us of all sins and can there by a better time for doing it  than now.  Happy in sharing with you hitherto not posted photos of  day 8 of Udayavar Uthsavam of the year 2009 (26.4.2009 to be precise)
