worshipping Varaha Roopam

Varaha Roopam Daiva Varishtam; Varaha Roopam Daiva Varishtam

Varasmitha Vadanam.. Vajra Dantadhara Raksha Kavacham

Oh  Varaha, the  incarnation of Lord Sriman Narayana,  the supreme among all Gods. It is HE who assumes the form of a wild boar; with teeth as hard as diamond, slays the demons and protects us like a shield.

Interestingly,  Gangamoola,  a hill in the Chikkamagaluru district of the state of Karnataka is also known as  Varaha Parvata.  It  is one of the hills in the Western Ghats range and is known for being the source of three rivers, Tunga, Bhadra and Netravathi.

In case you wonder, where this depiction is .. .. a photo from the beautifully ornate Aelmel pallakku of Thiruvallikkeni – taken during day 9 of Sri Parthasarathi Chithirai Brahmothsavam
