Sree Ramamrutha Tarangini ~ confluence of 16 holy rivers - way to Ayodhya

Sage Valmiki praises Lord Rama thus :  Rama, by his virtues, was a source of happiness to all the people and a spring of joy to his father. As the sun shines with his rays, Rama was shining, thus, with his virtues.

Tarangini is the most prominent musical compositions of Narayana Teertha, the 17th century Carnatic music composer and the author of a Sanskrit opera called Sri Krishna Leela Tarangini – today it was Sree Ramamrutha Tarangini – confluence of 16 holy rivers of Maha barath.

If we are ever confronted with a situation where we must compromise on either Dharma or the pleasures of the world, then we must forgo only worldly pleasures and never give up Dharma. All objects of the world can be pursued only so long as they are not in conflict with Dharma. Lord Sree Rama lived a life showing us the ethical way of living.

Sankara TV engaged in propagating bakthi culture and spreading Sanatana dharma ideals – have initiated a beautiful programme titled ‘Sree Ramamrutha Tarangini’ – the soil and holy water collected from 16 holy rivers of India are taken in a yatra to Ayodhya where they will be placed in the most beautiful temple to come up exactly at the place where Lord Sree Ramachandra murthi was born.  Understand that this programme was inaugurated at Sringeri Math by  His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Chandrashekhara Bharati Sabha Bhavanam  - and is now reaching at least one crore households.

The rivers are the building blocks of the nation. In the same way that the prana (vital life force) is important for the body, rivers are of utmost importance for the country. The Upanishads say: आपोमयः प्राणः āpomaya prāa

Water is extremely important for the sustenance of our prana and they are  also embodiment of divinity. In our Puranas, many devatas, great sages and mahapurshas lived on the banks of rivers, bathed in their holy waters and sang their praises.

It is our good  fortune that the idols, holy water reached Thiruvallikkeni and were kept in 77 TP Koil Street [behind Sri Azhagiya singar sannathi entrance] and devotees had darshan of this.
