Irapathu day 10 ~ Sarrumurai – Nammalwar Thiruvadi Thozhal. 

Today,  15^th Jan 2020  marked the culmination of Irapathu Uthsavam. The latter part of Adhyayana Uthsavam – ‘Irapathu’  sarrumurai was performed today.  This grand fete is performed for Swami Nammalwar and the 10^th day is very significant for the “Thiruvadi Thozhuthal”.   Today it is a bonanza : Irapathu Sarrumurai,  Sankranthi, Oorkola uthsavam & Thiruvadi thozhal.

On all the days of Irapathu there was purappadu in the evening – and it is Swami Manavala Mamunigal’s ‘Upadesa Rathinamalai’ in the  goshti… On Sarrumurai day, Swami Nammazhwar could be worshipped in his Thirumeni without kavacham. Today being the next day after Bhogi Thirukalyanam of divyathampathigal, Godadevi Sri Andal too accompanied Sri Parthasarathi.  After thiruveedhi purappadu,  inside the Temple in the famed ‘Thiruvadi Thozhal; Swami Nammazhwar’s entry  of Mokshapuri after a great life on this earth   – as he himself sung ‘வைகுந்தம் புகுவது மண்ணவர்   விதியே’ [vaikuntham puguvathu mannavar vithiye’] is enacted.

Swami Nammalwar’s Thiruvaimozhi is of vedic excellence, elucidating the desire of Jiva in attaining the Supreme Lord.  Alwar has given us thousands of sweetest hymns in Tamil with which we can forever engage in praising the glory of Lord – and in case, you nurse any doubt of the sins, troubles, of death, illness and more – the solution is too simple !  :    all our ills, obstacles, fears, sins will simply vanish upon uttering the name Kesava.  The wicked Yama’s messengers will not dare to come near and all troubles will go away for those of us, who utter Kesava, go and prostrate before that Lord at Thiruvananthapuram who reclines on the serpent capable of spitting venom.  Think, utter, chant, tell loudly – “Kesava”  all the time.  

ஸ்வாமி நம்மாழ்வார் அருளிச்செய்த 'திருவாய்மொழியை' கேட்பதற்காகவே ஏற்படுத்தப்பட்ட உத்சவம் அத்யாயன உத்சவம்.  எம்பெருமானின் பரிபூர்ண அருளை பெற்ற நம்மாழ்வார் 'திருவடி தொழுதல்' என  திருநாட்டுக்கு சென்று அலங்கரித்து, மண்ணவர் விண்ணப்பிக்க நமக்கு திருப்பி தந்து அருளப்பட்டவர்.   அவர் நமக்கு வழங்கும் எளிய அறிவுரை இதோ :

கெடுமிட ராயவெல்லாம் கேசவா வென்ன நாளும்

கொடுவினை செய்யும்கூற்றின் தமர்களும் குறுககில்லார்

விடமுடை யரவில்பள்ளி விரும்பினான் சுரும்பலற்றும்

தடமுடை வயல் அனந்தபுரநகர்   புகுதுமின்றே.

கொடிய இடரென்று பேர் பெற்றவையெயல்லாம், கேசவா வென்று மூன்றெழுத்தைச் சொன்ன வளவிலே கெடும்  ; கொடுவினைகளை தரும் யமனை சேர்ந்தவர்கள் பக்கலில் கூட நெருங்க மாட்டார்; அழகான வயல்கள் சூழ்ந்த திருவனந்தபுரத்திலே தானாகவே விரும்பி, கொடிய நச்சை உடைய அரவத்தை மேல் துயில் கொண்டருளும் பெருமானை  கேசவா என்று கூவி,  அத்  திருப்பதியிலே சென்று புகுந்தால் போதும்.

…and one cannot miss the Sublime beauty of Sri Parthasarathi oozing exceptional kindness in delicately made floral arrangement including the decorative crown made of choicest flowers and the dazzling ornamanents.  By His side was Godadevi Andal granting us all the boons.  Blessed are those who could have darshan of Him in any form.
