It is the Tamil month of Aippasi ~ it is a season
when it would rain – it is also the festive season ‘the grand Deepavali’ – all traders
are happy with roaring sales.
For us there is the best reason to feel happy –
continued bliss – as the 10 day Uthsavam of our Acharyar commenced yesterday [6th
Nov 2015] at Thiruvallikkeni and all divyadesams - it would conclude on Sunday
15th Nov 2015 - being
‘Thirumoola Nakshathiram’ in the month of Aippasi – the birth star of Swami
Manavala Mamunigal, the most reverred matchless Acharyar of our Srivaishnavaite
philosophy, practiced by Thennacharya Srivaishnavas.
Mamunigal
is known as ‘Yathindra Pravanar’ arising out of his irresistible attachment to
the lotus feet of Sri Ramanujar known as ‘Yatheendrar’. Sri
Manavala Mamunigal is the incarnation of Adisesha. He was born in Alwar
Thirunagari, Tamilnadu in AD 1370. At birth he was known as ‘Azhagiya
Manavala Perumal Nayanaar’. Later he was hailed in very many names such
as ‘Yatheendra Pravanar’, Ramyajamathru, Saumyajamatru, Visada-Vak-Sikhamani ,
Varayogi, Varavaramuni and more…..
Today,
[7.11.2015] the 2nd day
of the Uthsavam is Ekadasi and there was
the grand purappadu of Sri Manavala Mamunigal with Sri Parthasarathi
Himself. Sri Parthasarathi dazzled adorning the
Pandian Kondai as the Emperor of Emperors; wearing a garland made of ‘virutchi
flowers’ and holding the spectre [senkoal]
Our
Acharyar emphasized that one must fully
hear to the scholarly wisdom of the elders [Acharyas], speak, preach and follow
them without changing, misinterpreting or putting one’s own versions. Here
are photos taken during todays thiruveethi purappadu of our Acharyar ‘Poiyillatha
Maamunigal’ and Sri Parthasarathi.
