Saranagathi ! - fall at the feet of Emperuman .. ..

History has taught us that a war is never good for the people !  - yet there have been wars and humans had been killed in conflict, worser still, millions had to flee their own place.  Leaving one’s place by force and having to live elsewhere as a refugee could be the worst punishment to any human .. .. yet, in India, Kashmiri genocide was never condemned !!  sad, is the plight of Kashmiri pundits, who once owned assets and lived peacefully, had to abandon all their property and run in fear as genocide was committed killing thousands and displacing millions !

It is more than 100 days since the beginning of ‘Russo-Ukrainian’ War between Russia (together with pro-Russian separatist forces) and Ukraine. It began in February 2014 following the Ukrainian Revolution of Dignity, and initially focused on the status of Crimea and the Donbas, internationally recognised as part of Ukraine. The first eight years of the conflict included the Russian annexation of Crimea (2014) and the war in Donbas (2014–present) between Ukraine and Russian-backed separatists, as well as naval incidents, cyberwarfare, and political tensions.  Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine on 24th  February 2022.

In Sievierodonetsk, the small city that has become the focus of Russia's advance in eastern Ukraine and one of the bloodiest flashpoints in a war well into its fourth month, further heavy fighting was reported.  Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s advisor said that the Ukrainian army had lost up to 10,000 fighters in the first 100 days of the war.  Ukraine is pleading to Western countries for faster deliveries of weapons as better-armed Russian forces pounded the east of the country, and for humanitarian support to combat growing outbreaks of deadly diseases.  Some Western media has unleashed biased propaganda that Russia’s military has performed far worse than expected in Ukraine. This does not bode well for the Chinese People’s Liberation Army, which shares many of the same weaknesses, some of which – such as politicization and lack of combat experience – are even more pronounced. Russia’s military has taken a beating from Ukrainian forces that, at the start of the conflict, were thought to be no match for it.

One such deficiency is corruption. Of the world’s 20 largest economies, Russia rates the worst in this domain. Perhaps it should not have been surprising, then, that Russia’s military – long considered one of the world’s strongest – has been severely weakened by a variety of abuses. Judging by the number of senior generals arrested for corruption in China in the last decade, the rot inside the PLA may run just as deep.

Over 100 million people have now been forcibly displaced worldwide as a result of ongoing conflicts and crises in countries like Ukraine, Afghanistan, and Yemen. In the past decade, the global refugee population has more than doubled. According to the UNHCR, over 84 million people around the world have been forced to flee their homes. Among them are over 26.6 million refugees, the highest population on record. 68% of the world’s refugees come from just 5 countries.

More than 10% of the population of Eritrea — over 492,000 — now live as refugees due to social and political instability and violence. It’s hard to gauge humanitarian need within the small East African country — Eritrea remains one of the countries that Concern struggles to get complete data on for our annual Global Hunger Index.  Afghanistan continues to be one of the top countries of origin for refugees. Roughly 1 in 10 — that is, 2.6 million — refugees are Afghan by birth, and this number has fluctuated steadily over the last four decades. More than 88% of Afghan refugees are hosted in neighboring Pakistan and Iran.   The problem is compounded by the limited capacity of communities, government and humanitarian actors to withstand the impact of repeated natural disasters including floods, landslides, earthquakes and drought.

அரண் உடைத்து ஆகி உய்ந்தேன்;    ஆர் உயிர் துறக்கலாற்றேன்;
