Sree Rama Navami ~ Hanumantha Vahanam 2018

Sree Rama Navami ~ Hanumantha Vahanam 2018

‘உய்த்தது இவ்வுலகம்’ என்பார்; ‘ஊழி காண் கிற்பாய்’ என்பார்;

Today (25th Mar 2018)  is the holy day of Sree Rama Navami – the day on which Lord Sri Ramachandra murthy, the supreme avatar was born in the blessed land of  Ayodhya.  Lord Rama descended on earth for the purpose of upholding righteousness and rewarding virtue. The Greatest of  Ithihasa purana ‘Sri Ramayanam’  is the undiluted history of the Greatest Person who descended on this Universe.. .. ..   ~ and there is also the  great character – a warrior, mightily powerful, whose body was as hard as a diamond, whose speed equalled those of fastest flying eagles, who possessed great wisdom, who could organize a group of roaming ones, who can jump hundreds of miles, yet who remained at the feet of his Master, totally committed thinking of their welfare alone – unassuming, yet capable of telling the right things at the right moment – that is Pavana Puthra Hanuman – Aanjaneya, who is called ‘siriya thiruvadi’ – bearer of Lord Rama – who carried Rama on his shoulders during the war in which the demon was killed.

The mighty Hanuman excelled in his role as emissary -   Hanuman was destined to bigger deeds – of organizing an army comprising of monkeys in search of Sita, his great leap into the sea, crossing it and reaching the fortified Lanka; slaying wicked demon and meeting Sita at Ashoka vanam; sitting majestically before the King Ravana and burning the whole of Lanka ……… more than all these, the one role he relished most was carrying the ‘Ithihasa Purush’ on his shoulders and thus earning the title ‘Siriya Thiruvadi’ – the carrier of Lord Sri Rama

Celebrating the birth of Sri Rama ~ Sree Rama Navami 2018

Celebrating the birth of Sri Rama ~ Sree Rama Navami 2018

Today (25th Mar 2018)  is the holy day of Sree Rama Navami – the day on which Lord Sri Ramachandramurthy,  the supreme avatar of Maryada Purush  was born in the blessed land of Ayodhya.  Lord Rama descended on earth for the purpose of upholding righteousness and rewarding virtue.

Sage Valmiki,  -   the most eloquent of men enquired Sri Narada –  ‘Who is there in the World today, endowed with excellent & heroic qualities, versed in all duties of life, truthful, trustworthy, firm in his vows, benevolent,   learned, handsome, patient,   free from envy & when excited to wrath can strike terror  into the hearts of celestial beings ? ~  and Sage responded thus :

There is only one by name Sri Rama, born in the lineage of Ikshwaku.  He is totally balanced, one in complete control of His words, thoughts and deeds; a man of great valour ~ a person of steadfast character and radiant countenance – Lord Sree Rama

His great qualities are such that noble persons all over the World are drawn to Him like rivers finding their way to the Ocean.  He conducts himself equably all the time and he is extremely charming ! – the great Sri Rama.

Ayodhya Ammaji mandir Sri Rama

Narada muni acquainted with the past, the present and the future, pleased with the words of the Sage Valmiki, answered him saying:- ‘ Rare indeed are those, endowed with the qualities thou hath  enumerated, yet I can tell thee of such a person, born in the lineage of Ikshwaku, renowned, self-controlled, valourous, illustrious, wise, conversant with ethics, code, slayer of foes, broad shouldered, long armed, eminent in archery, noble head, of mighty prowess – known as Sri Rama.   His country, the Kosala Kingdom was replete with happiness.  The only trouble was that nobody could donate ~ for the simple reason that there were none to seek and beget things from others. People lived in such a perfect harmony that there was no fight and there was no opportunity to display valour ~ the subjects were well educated and lived life full of honour… its capital which had no wars was known as ‘Ayodhya’

His birth was extraordinary ~ His father was Emperor Dasaratha – who was well-versed in Veda, was  a gatherer of all scholars, riches and forces as well, a foreseer; esteemed by urbanites and countrymen alike, a top-speeded chariot-warrior among the emperors of Ikshwaku kings, one who performed many Vedic rituals, a virtuous one, a great controller, a saint-like kingly sage,  who was equal to  Indra.  Sriman Narayana,  with all His kindness agreed to incarnate as human and selected King Dasharatha as his father. When Dasharatha  peformed  the Vedic ritual called putrakaameshti,  Praajaapatya purusha arose from the sacrificial fire to give a golden vessel of divine dessert to Dasharatha for distribution among his queens to beget progeny.

The Greatest of Ithihasa purana ‘Sri Ramayanam’  is the undiluted history of the Greatest Person who descended on this Universe, on the banks of river Sarayu, in a prosperous country called ‘Koshala’.  In the immortal Ramayana, there are learning of life ….. For the Universe, Sri Rama and Sita are the Ideal persons.  Sri Rama is all pervading principle of Truth, character, steadfastness, sincerity, valour, skill, correctness, just, compassionate, righteous and more.

~ and there is also a great character – a warrior, mightily powerful, whose body was as hard as a diamond, whose speed equalled those of fastest flying eagles, who possessed great wisdom, who could organize a group of roaming ones, who can jump hundreds of miles, yet who remained at the feet of his Master, totally committed thinking of their welfare alone – unassuming, yet capable of telling the right things at the right moment – that is Pavana Puthra Hanuman – Aanjaneya, ‘thiruvadi’ – bearer of Lord Rama – who carried Rama on his shoulders during the war in which the demon was killed.

On this day of Sri Rama Navami, there will the purappadu of Sri Rama in Hanumantha vahanam later in the evening.  Mere chanting of His name [Sri Rama Namam] will bring us all good things and prosperity.

Meditate again and again the divine name of Rama  - mind gets absorbed in the divine consciousness of Rama, it is transcendental and is capable of relieving all evils, giving us all prosperity.

Sri Rama Piran thiruther 2018

Sri Rama Piran thiruther 2018

மாதலி கொணர்ந்தனன், மகோததி வளாவும் * பூதலம் எழுந்து படல் தன்மைய பொலந் தேர்;

Tomorrow is Sree Rama Navami ~ today is 8th day of Uthsvam – it was Thiruther – the chariot of Sri Rama and it was ‘Ramanuja Noorranthathi’ in the goshti.  Sri Ramar with Sitapiratti and Lakshmanan had kulakkarai purappadu and thence had periya maada veethi purappadu in Thiruther – the chariot.

In the Ithihasa purana, Sree Ramayana, Indira orders his charioteer Mathali, to bring the best of the chariots and place it before the Lord who had vowed to protect Devas from Asuras.  At Thiruvallikkeni, it is no warfront – it is peaceful thulasi aaranyam.  Today, Sree Rama on rath was so pleasing to the eyes of devotees.  Here are some photos taken this day.

Sri Rama Piran Garuda Sevai 2018 @ Thiruvallikkeni

Sri Rama Piran Garuda Sevai 2018

Very many centuries ago, descended on this earth, the Greatest Maryada Purush, the epitome of all virtues, who showed to all human beings on how to lead the life…. “Lord Sri Rama”.  His birth celebrations ~ Sri Rama Navami Uthsavam is on…. Today, 19th Mar 2018  -  is the third day of the Uthsavam and at Thiruvallikkeni divyadesam Sri Ramar had purappadu on Garuda vahanam.

Lord Rama descended on earth for the purpose of upholding righteousness and rewarding virtue. Ramayana is the greatest Ithihasa detailing the life and journey of the immortal Perfect man’s adherence to dharma despite harsh tests of life and time. Lord Rama is the epitome of all virtues and the perfect human being who abandoned the throne and served exile in the forest for the sake of honour of his beloved father.  Lord Rama  came in the dynasty of Iskshvahu.   Sri Rama Navami is a great day for all devotees as Lord Rama was born on the Navami thithi of Shukla Paksha of Chaitra masa (i.e., 9th day of the increasing phase of the moon in the lunar month of Chaitra).

The glorious day - Sri Ramanavami is on Panguni 11, Sunday 25th of March 2o18

In the land of Rama which obviously was the most exceptional paradise – Eldorado – Kambar describes it to be the place – where there was no philanthropy (as there was none seeking and receiving alms); not a place of valour (as there could be no invaders nor any war)…………yet its Lord’s life is not the story of happy living all the time….. in the prime of His youth, for 13 years, Lord Sri Rama accompanied by Sita and brother Lakshmana lived a life of pastoral peace in the forests.  Wherever  Rama decided to stay for some considerable time, Lakshmana would make a clearing in the forest, erect a thatched hermitage on a lonely eminence, plant flowers and creepers around the cottage. They lived hermit’s life collecting fruits and edible roots for food and not keeping anything for the future.  They did not wear any ornaments but were wearing the ones made of tree barks having forsaken enjoyment, casting away attachment from the material World – all following the order of His beloved father.  In those years,  it was deep silence of the forest, the vast panorama of nature around them, the green hillock, the grassy fields, the giant trees, gentle deer and other animals – all at a time when thousands were too willing to be by His side, serving all the time.

After fulfilling the vow, after killing the demon and returning to rule the life was great for the subjects. In the blessed city of Ayodhya created by Brahma himself,, even the meanest small insects without exception lived happily ~ the ruler, the blemishless Sri Rama gave exalted status to all  ~ Swami Nammalwar asks will anyone learn of  anything else other than the exalted story of Sri Ramapiran !!!

In that glorious Ramavathara, Lord Hanuman was closest to Him and carried HIM everywhere….the Greatest Carrier ordained to serve Lord Maha Vishnu - ‘Periya Thiruvadi [Garudan] gets a chance to carry Lord Rama on his shoulders  during this Sri Ramanavami Uthsavam and here are some photos of the fortune of Garuda – Sri Ramar Garuda Sevai at Thiruvallikkeni.

Periya Thiruvadi and Siriya Thiruvadi have had the glory and fortune of carrying the Greatest Lord on their shoulders – but perhaps – while carrying they could not have seen without taking eyes the golden visor shining on the forehead of their Master, the garland made of sweet fragrant flowers adorning their Master; the radiance illuminating from His face and the eyes that shower munificence ~ and that greatest Lotus feet, falling at which only will provide salvation to us all…………. We, the bakthas are more blessed as we are able to enjoy and prostrate at the feet of Lord Rama, more than the Thiruvadis could do.
