எம்பெருமான் எத்தகையவன் ?  -  " நுண்ணேர்மையன்" 

   - அப்படி என்றால் !?!?! -  நேர்மை என்றால்  – நுட்பம். 

 

Small !  Tiny !  -  Atoms represent the smallest pieces of matter with constant properties, and are referred to as the basic unit of matter. However, Scientists have discovered that atoms are not the smallest particles in nature.  In mathematics, an infinitesimal number is a quantity that is closer to zero than any standard real number, but that is not zero. The word infinitesimal comes from a 17th-century Modern Latin coinage infinitesimus ! which originally referred to the "infinity-th" item in a sequence. 

Generally we call them ‘minute’ (no reference to Time here) – meaning exceptionally small, tiny !!  - at one time atoms were thought to be the tiniest particles of matter.  Not any longer !! 

Electrons are one of the things inside atoms and they are seen moving around when an electric current flows.  The list of tiniest things  include quarks, gluons, electrons and neutrinos. Then there are the forces that join those things up: light is one of them. Light is carried by little particles called photons; then  there is the Higgs boson particle, which was found in recent times, found to be  smaller than an atom. 

"Miniscule" is a common variant spelling of "minuscule," which means "very small" or "extremely tiny." Minuscule can also refer to lowercase letters or to a style of small medieval handwriting.

Scientists study minuscule items by combining sensitive instruments, controlled experiments, and careful data analysis to observe, measure, and test phenomena far below everyday perception.  To detect a single protein molecule researchers might tag it with a fluorescent label, image it with a sensitive camera and total internal reflection microscopy, then use image analysis to confirm the signal above background noise.  Raman spectroscopy is a light-scattering technique used to identify materials by how their molecules vibrate. A laser shines on the sample, and most of the light bounces back unchanged, but a very small part changes energy in a way that reveals the material’s chemical “fingerprint.”

When the laser hits the sample, most scattered light is Rayleigh scattering, meaning it keeps the same wavelength as the laser. A tiny fraction is Raman scattered light, where the wavelength shifts because the light exchanges energy with molecular vibrations.  That shift is what scientists measure, and the pattern of peaks tells them what bonds or structures are present.

No Science or GK post but today being Revathi in the month of Aani – something on Periya Perumal – Lord of Thiruvarangam – Sri Ranganathan, resting on Adisesha on the beautiful island full of coconut trees, big walls, flowing water, riches and devotees – surrounded by the holy Cauvery that washes pearls and gems against the golden walls of the Temple built by Devas.  Emperuman here is everything the mightiest as also the one who resides in the tiniest of the substances.

நுண் என்ற  பெயர்ச்சொல் - மிகச்சிறிய/ மிகத்தெளிவான என அர்த்தங்கள் பெறும்.  நுண்ணுயிர்  என்பது - கண்களுக்கு புலப்படாத உயிரினம்.  நுண்ணேர்மையன்  என்றால்  ஸூக்ஷ்ம வஸ்துக்கள்  எல்லாவற்றையும் விட  மிகவும் ஸூக்ஷ்ம ஸ்வரூபனானவன் !  என்றபடி.   அதிஸூக்ஷ்மமான பதார்த்தங்களெங்கும் வியாபித்துத் தரித்துக்கொண்டு நிற்பவனே ஸ்வாமி நாரணன் எம்பெருமான். .

என மங்களாசாசனம் செய்த்துள்ளார்.  மூங்கில்களில் நின்று முதிர்ந்த முத்துக்களையும் ரத்னங்களையும் தள்ளிகொண்டுவந்து நிறைந்திருக்கிற தீர்த்தத்தையுடைய திருக்காவேரியாலும் தகுதியான அழகிய பெரிய திருமதிற்களாலும் சூழப்பட்டு அழகு பொருந்தியிருப்பதான "தென் அரங்கம்"  எனும் பெருமகிமை கொண்ட திவ்யக்ஷேத்திரத்திலே  எவர்க்கும் கிடைத்தற்கரிய மஹாபுருஷன்;  அனைத்து சிறப்புகளும் பொருந்திய  நுண் நேர்மையன் என்ற புகழ் வாய்ந்த சர்வேஸ்வரன் - புனித காவிரி ஆற்றின் நடுவே அற்புதமாக அமைந்த திருவரங்கத்திலே பள்ளி கொண்டு நம்மை ரக்ஷித்து அருள்கிறான்.  அவன் திருவடியல்லால் வேறு ஒன்றும் நமக்கு புகலிடமில்லை - அவன் தாள்களையே பற்றி அவனை அடைவோமாக !!

Erinnerungen an die Zukunft  -    what ??

Heard of ‘Chrysopogonzizanioides’ and wonder what is has to do with a Temple related post, especially one on the last day of Brahmothsavam at Thiruvallikkeni - the  10th day – Sapthavaranam, dwadasa aradhanam  and siriyathiruther of Sri Parthasarathi  Perumal  Chithirai   brahmothsavam at Thiruvallikkeni divyadesam on 10.5.2026.   The  brahmothsavam is a grand 10 day affair with Emperuman having purappadu in many vahanams including Sesha, Simha, Garuda, Hamsa, Hanumantha, Yaanai, Kuthirai and more .. thiruther (juggernaut) captures the eye of everyone. . ..  the uthsavam concludes with siriya thiruther known as Vettiver ther as this coolant is fixed on all sides of the ther.  Chariots have important mention in history as also in Ithihasa puranas.

Chariots of the Gods (German: Erinnerungen an die Zukunft, lit. 'memories of the future') a  West German documentary film directed by Harald Reinl hit the screens in 1970. It was  based on Erich von Däniken's book Chariots of the Gods?, a pseudo-scientific book that theorized extraterrestrials impacted early human life and evolution. The film was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature. 

Cargo cult is a term used to denote various spiritual and political movements that arose among indigenous Melanesians following Western colonisation of the region in the late 19th century. Features common to most cargo cult groups include the presence of charismatic prophet figures foretelling an imminent cataclysm and/or a coming utopia for followers—a worldview known as millenarianism.  Claims made by these prophets varied greatly from movement to movement, with some predicting the return of the dead or an abundance of food.  Some movements sought to appease "ancestral spirits or other powerful beings" by either reviving ancestral traditions or adopting new rituals, such as ecstatic dancing or imitating the actions of colonists and military personnel. 

Chariots of the Gods?  Unsolved Mysteries of the Past -  is a book written in 1968 by Erich von Däniken and translated from the original German by Michael Heron. It involves the hypothesis that the technologies and religions of many ancient civilizations were given to them by ancient astronauts who were welcomed as gods. 

The main thesis of Chariots of the Gods is that extraterrestrial beings influenced ancient technology. Von Däniken suggests that some ancient structures and artifacts appear to reflect more sophisticated technological knowledge than is known or presumed to have existed at the times they were manufactured. Von Däniken maintains that these artefacts were produced either by extraterrestrial visitors or by humans who learned the necessary knowledge from extraterrestrials. Such artifacts include the Egyptian pyramids, Stonehenge, and the Moai of Easter Island.  Further examples include an early world map known as the Piri Reis map, which von Däniken describes as showing Earth as it is seen from space,  and the Nazca Lines in Peru, which he suggests may have been constructed by humans as crude replicas of previous alien structures, as a way to call the aliens back to Earth.  He uses this same explanation to argue that cart ruts in Malta may have had extraterrestrial purposes along with similar lines in Australia, Saudi Arabia, and the Aral Sea. 

The book also suggests that ancient artwork throughout the world can be interpreted as depicting astronauts, air and space vehicles, extraterrestrials, and complex technology. Von Däniken describes elements that he believes are similar in the art of unrelated cultures.  Among the artwork he describes are ancient Japanese Dogū figurines (which he believes to resemble astronauts in spacesuits) and 3,000-year-old carvings in an Egyptian New Kingdom Temple that appear to depict helicopter-like machines. The book further suggests that the origins of many religions, including interpretations of the Old Testament of the Bible, are reactions to contact with an alien race. According to von Däniken, humans considered the technology of the aliens to be supernatural and the aliens themselves to be gods. Von Däniken asks if the oral and literal traditions of most religions contain references to visitors from stars and vehicles traveling through air and space. These, he says, should be interpreted as literal descriptions which have changed during the passage of time and become more obscure. 

In our Puranas too there are references to Devas living outside the World as also to chariots, vimanas, flyers and more .. .. residents of vinnagaram are capable of performing much bigger deeds than humans, but our life revolves around Emperuman and the ultimate surrender unto Him.

On the  concluding day of Chithirai Brahmothsavam is ‘Sapthavaranam’ and  Sri Parthasarathi perumal has purappadu in Siriya Thiruther [known as vettiver chapparam].  On 10^th May 2026, around 0930pm there was siriya thiruther purappadu.     

Getting back to vettiver thiruther, it  is all about keeping the place cool .. .. both industrial refrigeration and air-conditioning are based on the same mechanism: a fluid, generally water or air, is cooled by evaporation of another fluid, called the refrigerant. The refrigerant circuit, comprising the compressor, evaporator, condenser and expansion device, is an integral part.  Air-conditioning is that process used to create and maintain certain temperature, relative humidity and air purity conditions in indoor spaces.  An air-conditioning system must be effective regardless of outside climatic conditions and involves control over four fundamental variables: air temperature, humidity, movement and quality. 

Vettiver is a great coolant as also spreading fragrance.   ‘Vettiver Chapparam’… is embellished with mats of vettiver. The scientific name of  vettiver is  - ‘Chrysopogonzizanioides’, a type of grass of Poaceae family, native to India.  Also known as ‘khus’ Vettiver can grow up to 1.5 metres high and form clumps as wide. This Ther is known as ‘VettiverChapparam’ – for there used to be so many sheets made of this grass placed on the temple car.  One could feel the divine fragrance from a distance itself.

கதிராயிரமிரவி கலந்தெரித்தால் ஒத்த !!

 

ஏக காலத்தில் ஆயிரஞாயிறு உதித்தாற்போல் கண்கொண்டு காணவொண்ணாதபடி ஜ்வலியா நின்ற கிரீடத்தையுடையவனாய் மஹாநுபாவனான சக்கரவர்த்தித் திருமகன் எழுந்தருளியிருக்குமிடம் யாது?  திருவல்லிக்கேணி பிரம்மோத்சவத்தில் நான்காம் நாள் காலை சூர்யப்பிரபை.  மாலை சந்திரப்ரபை வாகனங்கள்.   சூரியனின் ஒளியைப் "பகலொளி' என்றும், சந்திரனிலிருந்து வரும் ஒளியை "நிலவொளி' என்றும் சங்க பாடல்களில் காட்டப்பட்டுள்ளது. 

In the ongoing Chithirai  brahmothsavam of Sri Parthasarathi Perumal,  today 4.5.2026  is day 4 – and it is Surya Prabhai in the morning.

Compared with the billions of other stars in the Universe,  it  is remarkable.  It is infact  a ball of gas (92.1 percent hydrogen and 7.8 percent helium) held together by its own gravity. It is  4,500,000,000 years old!  That's a lot of zeroes. That’s four and a half billion.  Going by what others do, i.e., burning  for about nine or 10 billion years – it can be said tobe halfway through its life. So no worries, it still has about 5,000,000,000—five billion (500 crores !)—years to go.  It is the SUN.

Science is very interesting !  - When those five billion years are up, the Sun will become a red giant. That means the Sun will get bigger and cooler at the same time. When that happens, it will be different than the Sun we know today. As a red giant, our Sun will become about 2,000 times brighter than it is now!   In what is being considered a particularly rare event, scientists are projecting that the Sun will be an unusually cool customer by the year 2050. Earth is bound to become a dry, scorched rock, as our sun becomes a red giant star. What’s more, as the Milky Way and Andromeda galaxies collide, our sun and Earth (and the rest of our solar system) are expected to be hurled outward, away from the galactic center, to the outskirts of a new large galaxy created in the collision.

Science keeps throwing newer facts and changing facts !  -  the  source of potentially hazardous solar particles, released from the Sun at high speed during storms in its outer atmosphere, has been located for the first time by researchers at UCL and George Mason University, Virginia, USA.  These particles are highly charged and, if they reach Earth’s atmosphere, can potentially disrupt satellites and electronic infrastructure, as well as pose a radiation risk to astronauts and people in airplanes. In 1859, during what’s known as the Carrington Event, a large solar storm caused telegraphic systems across Europe and America to fail. With the modern world so reliant on electronic infrastructure, the potential for harm is much greater. To minimize the danger, scientists are seeking to understand how these streams of particles are produced so they can better predict when they might affect Earth. In the new study, published in Science Advances, researchers analyzed the composition of solar energetic particles heading towards Earth, and found they had the same “fingerprint” as plasma located low in the Sun’s corona, close to the middle region of the Sun’s atmosphere, the chromosphere.

Humans have been endlessly fascinated and yet puzzled by the mysterious seasonal emergence and disappearance of birds. Birds are very interesting and affable.  Though one may see some nests, how birds sleep, how do they get their food, how they raise their family, how do they live and stave off their predators are all mysterious.  Birds migrate across continents.  Bird migration is the regular seasonal movement, often north and south along a flyway, between breeding and wintering grounds. Many species of bird migrate. Migration carries high costs in predation and mortality, including from hunting by humans, and is driven primarily by availability of food.   

Migration of species such as storks, turtle doves, and swallows was recorded as many as 3,000 years ago by Ancient Greek authors, including Homer and Aristotle, and in the Book of Job. More recently, Johannes Leche began recording dates of arrivals of spring migrants in Finland in 1749, and modern scientific studies have used techniques including bird ringing and satellite tracking to trace migrants. Threats to migratory birds have grown with habitat destruction especially of stopover and wintering sites, as well as structures such as power lines and wind farms. 

Away, the  world’s oldest known wild bird, a Laysan albatross named Wisdom,  a female Laysan albatross (mōlī)   is at least 75 years old as of 2025. Bandedin Dec 1956, by Chandler Robbins reared what is known to be at least her 40th chick in 2021. The bird hatched the baby on the Midway Atoll in the middle of the North Pacific Ocean. The feat aroused interest in the minds of researchers as it has stretched the boundaries of human knowledge of how birds live.  The  septuagenarian seabird has been raising chicks with her mate, named Akeakamai, since at least 2010. Laysan albatross are typically believed to partner up for life, but given Wisdom’s longevity, she had to find several new companions after she outlived her former mates.   

On  third day of   Special Brahmothsavam of Sri Parthasarathi   Emperuman this day (3.5.2026) – it is Garuda vahanam in the morning and  ‘Hamsa Vahanam’ in the evening.  The Thiruvallikkeni Hamsa vahanam is one of the heaviest among the vahanams.  The bird Hamsa  is known for its purity and powers.  Thirumangai Mannan in his ‘Thirunedunthandagam’ draws a reference to the Hamsa bird.  

Milk is a nutrient-rich, white liquid food produced by the mammary glands of mammals. It is the primary source of nutrition for infant mammals. Early-lactation milk contains colostrum, which carries the mother's antibodies to its young and can reduce the risk of many diseases. It contains many other nutrients  including protein and lactose.  As an agricultural product, dairy milk, is extracted from farm animals.   Human  milk consumption has played a key role in global economic and agricultural developments for over 10,000 years. Given its popularity, cow's milk has been the subject of numerous scientific studies in recent history.  Today with an annual production of 187.75 million tonnes (as per 2018-19 data) India accounts for about 22% of the world’s milk production. India’s journey from a milk deficit country to one of surplus has been momentous. Initiated in 1970, Operation Flood was arguably the world’s most ambitious dairy development programme that transformed India into one of the largest milk producers. India’s milk production rate in the past few decades has, in many ways, been symbolic of the upward trajectory of the country’s economy and influence.  

A lamellae  in cell biology, is used to describe numerous plate or concentric layers or disc-like structures at both a intra-cellular, cellular, tissue and higher level. Granums in chloroplast are interconnected by intergranal lamellae. They are the sites of photosystem I. Simply put, lamellae may be considered as multiple parallel or concentric layers of membranes as in chlorophyll  -  relevance here ?!?  

The hamsa ( हंस)  is an aquatic bird of passage, which  in modern parlance has been  interpreted as the goose, the swan,  or even the flamingo.   In Greek mythology, Zeus king of the Olympian gods takes the form of a swan to seduce a beautiful princess Leda.  In Irish mythology it was said that swans which flew in the sky by day were actually beautiful women at night. They would remove their swan suits and bathe in forest ponds. The Hamsa, vahanam  of Lord Saraswathi  is a familiar leitmotif in Indian art, literature, sculpture and textiles. It is an aquatic bird that resembles a goose or a swan. It is reputed to eat pearls and to be able to separate milk from water and drink only pure milk.  The Hamsa represents the perfect  harmony between spirituality and life.  Hamsam is attributed qualities of  purity, detachment, divine knowledge, cosmic breath (prana) and highest spiritual accomplishment.  

Water birds separate good water from the bad water. They have a sieve like structure (lamellae) in its mouth which separates water from mud. Probably this is what leads to the belief that Swans can separate milk from water and drink only milk, or perhaps they really can.
