Chokkapanai   symbolizes burning of bad behavior and unwanted elements ~ the flames symbolize blossoming knowledge.  திருக்கார்த்திகை சொக்கப்பனை வெந்தீயில் மாசுகள் அழிவது போல, துன்பங்கள் ஓடட்டும் ! கெட்ட எண்ணங்கள் ஒழியட்டும்!, தேசம் சுபிக்ஷமாக நிலவட்டும். 

பண்டைய தமிழகத்தில்  வேந்தர்தம் குலமரபுச் சின்னங்களாக இருந்தவை மரங்கள்.  சேரன் (பனை), சோழன் (அத்தி), பாண்டியன் (வேம்பு) என ! .  பனை புல்லினத்தைச் சேர்ந்த ஒரு தாவரப் பேரினம். பழங்காலத்து மொழி இலக்கண, இலக்கியங்கள் ஓலைப்படுத்தப்பட்டதனால் நமக்கு வந்து சேர்த்தன - அதில் முக்கிய பங்கு -பனை ஓலைக்கே!'. பனைகள் பொதுவாகப் பயிரிடப்படுவதில்லை, இயற்கையிலே தானாகவே வளர்ந்து பெருகுகின்றன. இளம் பனைகள் வடலி என்று அழைக்கப்படுகின்றன.  கற்பகத் தருவான பனை மரம் கல்பதரு என்றழைக்கப்படுவது. தேவமரம் என்றும் அழைக்கப்படுவது. பனை மரத்தின் வேர் முதற்கொண்டு நுனி வரை அனைத்துப் பொருட்களும் மனித வாழ்க்கைக்கு உதவுகின்றன.

Thirumangai Azhwar (Kaliyan) sarrumurai 2025 ~ திருமங்கை மன்னன் சாற்றுமுறை

Today, Thursday  4.12.2025  [Karthigai 18] is significant to Srivaishnavas – sarrumurai vaibhavam of Thirumangai Mannan. Kaliyan was born in Thiruk Kuraiyulur, 2 km from Thiruvali-ThiruNagari near Sirkazhi.  At the time of his marriage with Kumudavalli from Annan Koil (another Divya Desam near Sirkazhi) – one of the ‘wedding’ conditions  was  to feed 1008 Vaishnavites every day.  By divine grace, Kaliyan turned Thirumangai Azhwar, which gets enacted on day 8 Kuthirai vahana purappadu at Thiruvallikkeni and as Vedupari uthsavam at Thirumanankollai.  He was to categorically direct us on the greatness of chanting Ashtaksharam of Sriman Narayana. 

இன்று 4.12.2025   கார்த்திகையில் கார்த்திகை நாள்- திருமங்கை மன்னனின் சாற்றுமுறை வைபவம். இன்று அல்லிக்கேணியில் கலியன் ஸ்ரீபார்த்தசாரதி பெரிய மாட வீதி புறப்பாடு.  திருவல்லிக்கேணியில் நாளை தான் திருக்கார்த்திகை தீபம் (திருப்பாணாழ்வார் சற்றுமுறையும் கூட) - 5.12.2025   இரவு முதல் தைலக்காப்பு.    டிசம்பர் 25வரை மூலவர் சேவை கிடையாது. 

நாராயணா என்னும் நாமம் நல்ல சுற்றத்தைத் தரும். ஐசுவரியத்தைத் தரும். அடியவர்கள் படும் துயரங்களையெல்லாம் தரைமட்டமாக்கி (நிலந்தரம்), பரமபதத்தைக் கொடுக்கும் (நீள்விசும்பு), அருளோடு கைங்கரியம் என்னும் ஸ்தானத்தையும் கொடுக்கும், வலிமை கொடுக்கும், மற்றெல்லாம் தரும். பெற்ற தாயை விட அதிகமான பரிவைத் தரும். நல்லதே தரும் சொல் ‘நாராயணா என்னும் நாமம்’.  

கலியன் என்றால் அவரது குதிரை 'ஆடல்மா' மற்றும் அவரது சிஷ்யர்கள் நினைவுக்கு வரக்கூடும். குதிரை சங்க இலக்கியங்களிலும், மன்னர் காலத்திலும்,  புராணங்களிலும் சிறப்பாக கருதப்பட்டு உள்ளது.  குதிரை, புரவி தவிர ~ மா, பரி, மான், இவுளி, கலிமா - இதனது வேறு பெயர்கள்.   திருமங்கையாழ்வார் வைணவ நெறியைப் பின்பற்றி பக்தியில் சிறந்து விளங்கிய பன்னிரு ஆழ்வார்களுள் இளையவர் மற்றும் இறுதியானவர். சோழ நாட்டில் உள்ள திருவாலி-திருநகரி என்னும் ஊருக்கு அருகில் உள்ள  திருக்குறையலூரில்  பிறந்தவர் 'கலியன்'.  சீர்காழியில் இருந்து 13 கி.மீ. தொலைவிலும் திருவெண்காட்டில் இருந்து 6 கி.மீ. தொலைவிலும் உள்ளது திருக்குறையலூர்.  ஆதியில் இவர் சோழமன்னனுக்கு படைத்தலைவனாக இருந்தார். ஒருமுறை போர்க்களத்தில் இவருடைய வீரத்தைக் கண்ட அரசன் இவருக்கு சோழதேசத்தின் "திருமங்கை" நாட்டின் குறுநில மன்னனாக்கினான். அன்று முதல் இவர் "திருமங்கை மன்னன்" என அழைக்கப்பட்டார்.  கலியன் அவதரித்த கார்த்திகை மாதம்; கார்த்திகை  நன்னாள்.  

ஆழ்வார் குமுதவல்லியை     மணம்முடிக்க ஆசைப்பட்டார்.  குமுதவல்லி "பஞ்ச ஸம்ஸ்காரமும், ஓர் ஆண்டு முழுவதும் ஆயிரத்தெட்டு வைணவ அடியார்களுக்கு அமுதூட்டினாலின்றி நான் உங்களைக் கணவராக ஏற்க மாட்டேன்" என்று கூற - அதன்படியே   ஓர் ஆண்டு முழுவதும் ஆயிரத்தெட்டு வைணவ அடியார்களுக்கு அமுதூட்டி, தன்னிடம் இருந்த பொருள் அனைத்தும் தீர்ந்த நிலையில் வழிப்பறித்து பொருளீட்டத் தொடங்கினார். அவ்வாறு வழிப்பறிக்க திருமணங்கொல்லையில் திருவரசின் மேலே பதுங்கி இருந்தபோது வயலாளி மணவாளன் பிராட்டியோடு மணவாளக்கோலத்தில் திரளோடு வர, அவனை வளைத்துத் துணிமணிகளைக் கவர்ந்து அறுகாழியையும்  வாங்கினார். அவ்வமயம் அவரை ஆட்கொண்ட எம்பெருமான் அவரது செவியில் திரு எட்டெழுத்தாகிய திருமந்திரத்தைச் சொல்லித் தந்து இவரை ஆட்கொண்டார் என்கிறது குருபரம்பரை.  

Thirumangai Azhwar was a  vivid versatile personality – a great poet, efficient in horse riding and warfare, exceptional faith on his Lord, travelled very widely the length and breadth of the country  and did most mangalasasanam of divyadesangal.  Kaliyan has many names -  Arulmari, Kaliyan, Parakalan, Arattamukki, Adayarseelam, and Thirumangai Mannan. He was passionate about anything he pursued,  be that bewitching damsel Kumudavalli nachiyar, feeding Srivaishnavaites  or building temples.

ஸ்ரீ நாலாயிர திவ்யப்ரபந்தத்தில், கலியனது பங்கு அதீதம்.  பெரிய திருமொழி, திருக்குறுந்தாண்டகம், திருநெடுந்தாண்டகம், திருவெழுகூற்றிருக்கை, பெரிய திருமடல், சிறிய திருமடல்  என 1137 பாசுரங்கள் நமக்கு அளித்துள்ளார்.  சிறிய திருமடல், பெரிய திருமடல் எனும் இரண்டு படைப்புகளிலும் தன்னைத் தலைவியாக 'பரகால நாயகியாய்'  உருவகித்த நிலையில் அவர் பாடல்களைப் புனைந்துள்ளார்.  

Sure, you would recall ‘Kaliyan Vaibavam enactment’ during Kuthirai vahanam – day 8 of Brahmothsavam at Thiruvallikkeni  – whence Emperuman  holds the reins of the golden horse;  Azhwar  Kaliyan comes chasing on his ‘adalma’.  At that time, he was a  local chieftain’ feeding  thousands of Sri Vaishnavaites  everyday.  He had vowed to feed thousands of persons each day and also needed money to build temples. Thirumangai mannan’s disciples were  - Neermel nadappan, Nizhalil odhunguvan, Thaloodhuvan,  Tholavazhakkan.  Not finding enough resources he and his disciples  had to resort to robbery and Sriman Narayanan in his various Leelas chose to play with him, by getting robbed, making him realize his folly and turning him to his trusted devotee. Neelan  understanding the significance became Thirumangai Azhwaar and rendered Periya Thirumozhi;  in Naalayira Divyaprabandham.  Ordained to listen  to the Ashtakshra mantra, becomes  Thirumangai Azhwar.   

திருமங்கை மன்னனின் சாற்றுமுறை வைபவம் கார்த்திகையில் கார்த்திகை நாள்  திருக்கார்த்திகை  முடிந்து ஸ்ரீ கூரத்தாழ்வான் சாற்றுமுறைவரை   இல்லங்களில் திவ்யப்ரபந்தம் சேவிப்பது இல்லை என்று வழக்கம்.  இது அநத்யயன காலம் எனப்படுகிறது. இதோ இங்கே திருமங்கை மன்னனின் அற்புத வரிகள் - திருக்குறுந்தாண்டகத்திலிருந்து : 

நிதியினைப் பவளத்தூணை நெறிமையால் நினைய வல்லார்*,

கதியினைக் கஞ்சன் மாளக் கண்டுமுன் அண்டமாளும்*,

மதியினை மாலை வாழ்த்தி வணங்கியென் மனத்து வந்த*,

விதியினைக் கண்டு கொண்ட தொண்டனேன் விடுகிலேனே! 

எத்தகைய எம்பெருமான் நம் ஸ்ரீமன் நாராயணன்.  அவன்  பெருமைகளை உணர்ந்தவர்கள் எக்காலும்  பிரியகில்லாதவர்கள் ஆவார்கள்.    மற்றெக்காலத்தும் உதவ வல்ல நிதி  ' வைத்தமாநிதியாம் மதுசூதன்“;  என்றென்றும் துணையாய்  சார்பதற்காம் அணியான  பவளத்தூண் நம் எம்பெருமான்; கஞ்சனாகிய  கம்சனை வதம் செய்து தம் மக்களை காத்தருளிய, வியாமோஹமுள்ள கருநிற கண்ணபிரானை மட்டுமே நினைத்து அவன் திருவடி தாள்களையே  வாழ்த்தி வணங்கி  அந்த  எம்பெருமானை  ஸேவிக்கப்பெற்ற தொண்டனேன்,  அவனை இனி ஒருநாளும் விடமாட்டேன்.  

The most fortunate me, have found my treasure, the one who can provide shelter like a coral pillar, the Lord who is sole refuge of those who seek him through worship.  The one who destroyed Kamsa, the Lord who rules the Universe from yore, the adorable one.  He is the divinity  who has entered  my heart, I worship him ever be conscious of the worthy life in attaining Him and  shall never leave Him.  

In the divyaprabandham, he has a huge share with 6 prabandhams to his credit : Thirumozhi (1084 verses), Thirukkurunthandagam, Thirunedunthandagam, Thiruvezhukkoorrirukkai, Siriya thirumadal and Periya thirumadal.  Those were written in different forms revealing his widest spectrum of poetic meters and his command over the language.  Aasu kavi, Vistara kavi, Madhura kavi and Chithra kavi, he was, thus earning the title of Naalu kavi perumal, which was recognized by Saivaite Nayanmar Sambandar, who appreciatedly gave his  spear (Vel) as a gift.  At Thirunagari and many other divyadesams, one can have darshan of Kaliyan holding this big spear.  He would also be seen alongside  his consort Kumudavalli Naachiyar   instrumental in bringing him into the fold of devotion to the Lord and Bhagavatas.  

He visited many places, did great kainkaryam and towards the end did lot at Thiruvarangam divyadesam.  While he was rebuilding the walls of the Srirangam temple, as a mark of deference to   Thondaradipodi Azhwar, he replanned the mathil leaving out the revered spot  where Thondaradipodigal did pushpa kainkaryam.  It was  Kaliyan who initiated the system of rendering  Nammazhwar’s prabandhas before the Lord at Srirangam and for this brought the archai idol of Swami Nammalvar from  Azhwar Thirunagari and take him back after the Utsava with all the temple honours.   The Adhyayanotsavam was developed to its present form of Irappathu, Pagal pathu by Acharya Nadamuni with the rendering of Nalayira divyaprabantham fully.  

Sensing his final days, Alwar reached Thirukkurungudi, did kainkayram to Vadivazhagiya Nambi and attained lotus feet of our Emperuman from there.  Among dense fields, his thiruvarasu now stands testimony that ‘the abode of Lord – Vaikundam’ is calling distance from here.

என அறுதியிட்டு உரைத்த திருமங்கை மன்னன் தாள்கள் பணிவோம்.

PS :   Tamil tinseldom certainly was far different last century, and more than 80 years ago, came this film –  Thirumangai Alwar with Kothamangalam Seenu in lead.  He was a versatile actor well versed in Carnatic music.  The film’s music was by SN Ranganatha Rao and the song ‘Booloka Rambai ivalo !’ sung by Kothamangalam Seenu was a super hit.  Kothamangalam Seenu’s original name was VS Srinivasan,  born in Vathirairuppu.  He debuted in film Sarangadhara, released in 1935.  At a time dominated by Thiyagara bagavathar and PU Chinnappa, Seenu  acted in Pattinathar and Vipra Narayana. His songs in Shantha Sakkubai, released in 1939, became very popular.  His last film 'Thulasi Jalandar' was  released in 1947;  though he lived for another 50 years, he did not act in any films after that.

Tomorrow is Karthigaiyil Karthigai – thirunakshathiram of Kaliyan as also Nampillai.  At Thiruvallikkeni Nampillai sannathi – today it was 7, 8 & 9^th decads of Swami Nammalwar’s thiruvaimozhi. It was Sri Rama piran sarruppadi for Sri Ranganathar in the sannathi. 

நம்மாழ்வார் அருளிச்செய்த  திருவாய்மொழி 7ம் பத்து - 5ஆம் திருவாய்மொழி - முதல் பாசுரம் (வெற்றிகளுக்கு அடியனை இறைவனின் தோற்றங்களின் குணங்களை இழக்கிறார்களே ! என உலகத்தாரை நோக்கி ஆழ்வார் இரங்குதல்

Amongst the attractions of Pycrofts Road (Bharathi Salai) towards Marina is the platform shops selling books.  (a repost of mine) 

Almost a decade ago, in 2016 – on a platform shop -  saw this rare gem the cover of which attracted me – written in Telugu (though coverage page is in Tamil), it was totally pest ridden and brittle – not a single page could be touched, yet could manage to take a photo of the cover with mobile camera. A rare treasure published somewhere in 1956 ! mentioning Eekkaduthangal Thiruvooral Uthsavam

 

Ever since I know, this Uthsavam occurs mostly in Jan and sometimes in Feb.  the book bears the date  Panguni 19 – which was April 1, 1956, a Sunday and perhaps the Uthsavam that year occurred on that day.  Moreso, the purappadu to Eekkadu takes place early morning in  pallakku  via Mylapore and many other mandagappadis – thirumanjanam at Ekkadu near Saidapet and Perumal returns late in the night.  It is thanga kedayam during purappadu at Saidapet veethigal.  In this photo Perumal is in Dharmathipeedam – day 1 of Brahmothsavam special.

May the Uthsavam  was taking place in April those years or was so that year alone due to some contingency  or perhaps it was an invitation for the Uthsavam.  Whatever it be – a rare gem, sad that the book was not in a condition where one can turn its pages.

எம்பெருமானிடம் பக்தி கொண்டவர்கள் - சகல உயர்வும் பெற்றவர்கள்.  திருக்குறுங்குடி திவ்யதேசத்தில் மகேந்திர மலையில் நடந்த நிகழ்வு அனைத்துக்கும் சிகரம் வைத்ததை போன்றதாகும். கார்த்திகை மாதம் சுக்ல பக்ஷ ஏகாதசி இரவு அன்று ஸ்ரீமன்நாராயணின் பரமபக்தனான நம்பாடுவான் திருக்குறுங்குடிநம்பி பெருமாள் கோவிலை நோக்கி செல்கிறான். அந்த இரவு நேரத்தில் அவன் செல்லும் வழியில் ஒரு ப்ரம்மரக்ஷஸ்(பிசாசு) அவனை வழி மறித்து அவனை பிடித்துக் கொள்கிறான். 

லோகம் உண்டானதும் சத்யத்தாலே என வாக்கை காப்பாற்றி  திரும்பிய நம்பாடுவானிடம் ராக்ஷஸ் கடைசியில் கீத பலத்தையாவது தருமாறு கேட்டு, சத்தியத்தின் பெருமையை உணர்ந்து, அவனிடமே சரணாகதி அடைந்து மோக்ஷம் அடைந்தது. இந்த சிறப்புதான் கைசிக மகாத்மியம்**

Tuesday 2^nd Dec 2025     is an all important day for Srivaishnavaites– ‘shukla paksha’ dwadasi of the month of Karthigai.  [shukla paksham is the waxing phase of Moon and dwadasi is the 12^th day – the day following Ekadasi].  It is the day of “Kaisika Dwadasi”.  In Divyadesams, most importantly at Thirukurungudi, Thiruvarangam,  Azhwar Thirunagari, Thirukachi,  and in Thiruvallikkeni – ‘kaisika puranam’ is read before the Lord.    

Of those who remained closest to Emperumanar Sri Ramanujar – Sri  Mudaliandan, Sri Koorathazhwan, Sri Embar,  Sri Ananthazhwan, Arulalaperumal Emperumanar, Kidambi Achaan, Thirukurugai Piraan Pillan, Thiruvarangathu Amuthanar and more.  Sri Mudaliandan Swami is reverred as Trithandam and Sri Koorathazhwan as Thiruppavithram for Swami Ramanujar.   Our Acaryar Swami Mudaliandan was born in Prabhava year 1027 in Chithirai punarpoosam. [so we have just 2   years to celebrate his sahasrabdi !]   at Pachai Varana puram near Poonamallee (now Pettai) – on birth was named as Dasarathi – and he came to be known as  Yathiraja paduka, Nam Vadhoola Desikan (given by Sri Ranganthar), Vaishnav Siro Bushaa, Aandan (given by Swami Ramanujar), Tridandam (given by Swami Ramanujar), Sri Vaishnava dasar (given by Sishya's)   

ஸ்வாமி முதலியாண்டான்  உடையவர் திருவடிகளிலே கைங்கர்யத்தைச் செய்து,  வாதூல தேசிக பதம் நிர்வஹித்து ஸ்ரீரங்க ஸ்ரீயை அபிவிருத்தி செய்தவராய்க் கொண்டு 105 திருநக்ஷத்ரம் (கி.பி.1027 - 1132)  உடையவரின் பாதுகாஸ்தானியராக எழுந்தருளியிருந்தார்.   எம்பெருமானுடைய திருவடி ஸ்தானமாக இருந்து அவருக்கு அந்தரங்க கைங்கரியங்களை செய்தமையால் எம்பெருமானுடைய திருவடியை முதலியாண்டான் என்றே அழைப்பது மரபு.  

 

ஸ்ரீராமாநுஜ பாதுகையான தாசரதி எனும் முதலியாண்டான் வம்சாவழி - கோவில் கந்தாடை வாதூல அண்ணாவிலப்பன் திருமாளிகையின் வர்த்தமான ஸ்வாமி, ஸ்ரீ பாடலாத்ரி நரசிம்ஹர் கைங்கர்ய துரந்தரரும் , சிங்கப்பெருமாள் கோவில் ஸ்தானாச்சார்யரும், ஸ்தலாச்சார்யரும், தீர்த்தக்கார ப்ரதானருமான *ஸ்ரீ உ வே பக்திசாரர் ஸ்வாமி* எனும் யதீந்த்ர ப்ரவணர்    ஸ்வாமி தற்சமயம் திருவல்லிக்கேணியில் எழுந்தருளியுள்ளார்.  இன்று திருவல்லிக்கேணி வானமாமலை மடத்தில் ஸ்வாமி - திருவாராதன பெருமாளுக்கு கைசிக புராணம் வாசித்தபோது எடுக்கப்பட்ட சில படங்கள் இங்கே.  ஸ்வாமிகள் திருவடிகளுக்கு பல்லாண்டு பல்லாண்டு*.

Triplicane loses Manthrapushpam Bashyam Swami

Chennai and nearby districts witnessed intense rainfall on Monday despite Cyclone Ditwah weakening, leading to waterlogging, tree falls, ...  and .. .. a colossal loss for Triplicane and Srivaishnavas.

 

Thiruvallikkeni sadly lost one of the doyens of Srivaishnavism – Manthrapusham Bashyam Swami.  Tall, ever smiling, he endeared himself to all by his way of living, pleasing manners and sharing his knowledge with youngsters. 

Born in Sept 1931, he was educated in Madras University. He was a respectful high official with Tamil Nadu Govt working in various capacities and retiring as Dist Development Officer.  

He was a very regular  in arulicheyal kainkaryam at Thiruvallikkeni divyadesam and did ‘Manthrapushpam’ kainkaryam without missing a day for more than 3 decades.  Even after turning 94, he was fit and had firm steps – and continued his kainkaryam pleasingly.

 

Sadly, on 1.12.2025 - Sri UVe  Thirumalai Sudarshan  Bashyam Iyengar Swami (Manthrapushyam kainkaryam at Sri Parthasarathi swami thirukovil) breathed his last and attained acharyan thiruvadi.  He had lived a complete life with his grandsons / granddaughters all well placed. 

He lived in Nagoji Street and in recent years has been living at Apartment in TP Koil Street, just before Gangai kondan mandapam (on top of Shoppers Hut). Understand the obsequies will be at home around 2.30 pm today (2.12.2025).  He maintained good health throughout without any ailments.

இன்று ஹிந்துக்களுக்கு ஒரு நற்செய்தி.  கார்த்திகைத் திருநாளையொட்டி மதுரை திருப்பரங்குன்றம் மலையில் தீபம் ஏற்ற  நீதிமன்றம் உத்தரவிட்டுள்ளது.  மேலும் அந்த விழாவிற்கு காவல் துறை முழு பாதுகாப்பு வழங்க உயர் நீதிமன்ற மதுரை கிளை உத்தரவிட்டுள்ளது. மதுரை எழுமலையைச் சேர்ந்த ராமரவிக்குமார் தொடர்ந்த வழக்கில் உத்தரவிட்டுள்ளது பிள்ளையார் கோவில் தீப மண்டபத்தில் கார்த்திகை தீபம் ஏற்றுவது ஏற்கத்தக்கதல்ல என மனு தாக்கல் செய்யப்பட்டிருந்த நிலையில், இன்று உத்தரவு பிறப்பிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது என தமிழ் செய்தி தாள்களும், ஆங்கில செய்தி நிறுவனங்களும் தெரிவிக்கின்றன..

 

On the outskirts of Madurai, roughly eight kilometers from the city lies one of the most prominent  Saivaite religious shrines -  Thiruparankundram Murugan. It is among the six abodes of Lord Murugan, called Arupadaiveedu as a whole. The temple was built by the Pandyas during the eighth century by a single mountain carving out the rocks, which add to its overall magnetism. It is here that  Shanmugar married Deivayanai, the princess of heaven and the divine daughter of Lord Indra after slaying the demon king Surapadman. So, this temple is considered one of the most promising places for marriages.   

Thiruparankundram and its landmark hill contains some of the earliest cave temples of Shaivism tradition in this region. The hill is sacred -  Kandhamalai (lit. "hill of Kandha (Murugan, Kartikeya) – the god of war").  The temple complex is Thirupparamkunram Murugan temple, one of the Six Abodes of Murugan (Aru padai veedu).  

The Madurai Bench of Madras High Court on Friday reserved orders on a batch of petitions filed over the location chosen by the Subramaniya Swamy temple administration for lighting Karthigai Deepam at Thiruparankundram hill on December 3. The petitioners challenged the decision of temple administration to light the Karthigai Deepam at the 'usual' location - Deepa Mandapam near the Uchipillaiyar temple on the hill. They alleged that the said mandapam is used to light 'Moksha Deepam' and the same spot cannot be used for Karthigai Deepam. They claimed that the ritual traditionally took place on an ancient stone pillar (Deepa Thoon) located more than 15 metres away from the Sikandar Badusha Dargah on the hilltop, saying it would make the deepam more visible. 

HR&CE while arguing against,  admitted that the stone pillar was covered by the temple authorities since it was not being used. Addl AG for the State said  rituals for lighting the deepam have begun and the public have been informed that the deepam would be lit in Uchipillaiyar temple mandapam . No changes can be proposed at this stage, he added.  

Recently, Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court delivered its third-judge ruling on the Thiruparankundram Hillock dispute, settling the split verdict delivered in June this year. Justice GR Vijayakumar, the third judge nominated to decide the matter, largely concurred with the views of Justice S Srimathy, affirming that the name of the hillock shall remain Thiruparankundram Hill and not Sikkandar Malai.

The judgment resolved three contentious issues - the name of the hillock, the practice of animal sacrifice at the Sikkandar Badusha Dargah, and the right of Muslims to offer prayers at the Nellithoppu area. 

Justice Vijayakumar noted that revenue and archaeological records, including a 1908 and a 1923 Gazette notification under the Ancient Monuments Preservation Act, identify the area as Thiruparankundram Rock. The notifications declare 172.2 acres of the hill as protected monuments under the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). Citing these records and the 1920 civil court decree, the judge held that referring to the hill as Sikkandar Malai was "mischievous" and amounted to an attempt to alter its historical name. The judge also observed that Arulmigu Subramaniaswamy Temple at the foothills is the owner of the entire Thiruparankundram Hill except for two portions - the Sikkandar Badhusha Avuliya Dargah at the southern peak and the Nellithoppu area midway - which earlier civil court decrees had recognised as belonging to the Mohammedans. The Dargah and Nellithoppu areas together form only a small part of the 172-acre hill, with Nellithoppu itself measuring about 33 cents. 

The Judgement further cleared that  no animal sacrifice can be permitted on the hillock, citing that there was no documentary proof showing animal sacrifice as a long-standing or essential religious practice at the Dargah. The court held that even if the dargah administration claims animal sacrifice as a religious custom, it must establish this before a competent civil court. Until such a decision is made, no animal sacrifice, cooking, or serving of non-vegetarian food would be allowed anywhere on the hill.  The Court permitted Muslims to offer prayers in the Nellithoppu area during Ramzan and Bakrid alone, subject to strict conditions. The  steps, which also lead to the Kasi Vishwanathar Temple atop the hill, must not be obstructed or defiled.

படம்:  1972 ஆம் ஆண்டு வெளிவந்த  “தெய்வம்”. எம். ஏ. திருமுகம் இயக்கத்தில் வெளிவந்த இத்திரைப்படத்தில் கிருபானந்த வாரியார்,ஜெமினி கணேசன், சௌகார் ஜானகி மற்றும் பலரும் நடித்திருந்தனர்.  முருகனின் அருள் திருவிளையாடல்கள் ஆறினை அக்காலத்தின் முறைமையில் நடைபெற்றதைப்போல் கிருபானந்த வாரியார் தம் சொற்பொழிவில் மக்களுக்கு அறிவிப்பதைப்போன்று தொடங்குகிறது. தனித்தனி பிரச்சனைகளும் அதனை முருகன் தன் திருவிளையாடலில் ஆட்கொள்ளுதலுமாக காட்சிகள் அமைக்கப்பட்டிருந்தன.
