Imp Pre-script … the first portion in English is about a famous movie, treasure hunt, precious metals and mankind’s perennial attachment to wealth ! – you can ignore the first part and move towards ‘எம்பெருமானுடைய  கடாக்ஷம் பெறப்பெறின்’  - if you so desire, though I would request you to read ..

Raiders of the Lost Ark, released in 1981  is one of those rare films that almost perfectly defines the treasure-hunt adventure genre. It introduced the world to Indiana Jones, played by Harrison Ford.  The film is set in 1936. Indiana Jones is an American archaeologist and university professor who also happens to be an extraordinarily capable adventurer.

The U.S. government learns that the Nazis are searching for the Ark of the Covenant—the Biblical chest that, according to the Old Testament, contained the stone tablets bearing the Ten Commandments. The Nazis believe the Ark possesses supernatural power and want to obtain it for Hitler. Jones is sent to find it first. And the chase takes him from: University → Peru → Nepal → Egypt → ancient Tanis → Nazi submarine base with an extraordinary succession of clues, betrayals, fights, traps and archaeological discoveries.

From time immemorial, Humans have decorated themselves for tens of thousands of years. Archaeologists have found ancient beads made from shells, teeth, bone and stone. Long before people had coins or banks, they were already wearing objects that communicated: “This is who I am.”  … An ornament could indicate: wealth, marital status, age, social rank, tribe, community, religious affiliation, political authority, fertility, protection, beauty, connection to ancestors and .. ..    jewellery was portable.

Historically, people have been attracted to certain metals and gemstones for a fascinating combination of rarity, beauty, durability, portability, and symbolism. In fact, the things we call “precious” are not necessarily the metals with the highest industrial price today.  Some of the costliest metals include : Rhodium, Iridium, Palladium, Gold, Platinum, Ruthenium, Osmium   .. Silver and then there are diamonds and other stones !! .. among all these - Gold possesses an almost extraordinary combination of properties:  It is rare—but not impossibly rare. There is enough gold for humans to encounter it, but not enough to make it commonplace. Iron eventually becomes a reddish-brown oxide. Copper tarnishes. Silver blackens. Gold can remain essentially unchanged for centuries.  Gold is one of the most malleable metals. A goldsmith can hammer it into extremely thin sheets and draw it into fine wire. So from ancient times, Gold has been an almost perfect store of wealth.

BUT for devout Srivaishnavaites, Gold, Silver, Diamond or anything else might be irrelevant, insignificant – and the only thing that is cared is the divine Golden feet of Sriman Narayana and kainkaryam unto HIM.

 

நம் எம்பெருமானுடைய  கடாக்ஷம் பெறப்பெறின்  எத்தகைய மனக்களிப்பு உண்டாகும் ? முத்துக்களோ, வைரங்களோ, நன்பொன்னோ  ~ வேறு ஏதும் விலை மிக அதிகமான பொருளோ ? - நமக்கு எதிலே நாட்டம் ?? ஐயம் கிஞ்சித்தும் உளதோ ??  :  சுவாமி நம்மாழ்வாரின் வைர வரிகள் : 

*பெருங்கேழலார் தம்  பெருங்கண் மலர்ப்புண்டரீகம்  நம்மேல் ஒருங்கே பிறழுவதே **   ~  அன்று  பிரளய  வெள்ளத்திலழுந்தின பூமியை மீட்டு எடுத்த மஹாவராஹ ரூபாய மயமானவர்,  எம்பெருமான் தம்முடைய பெரிய செந்தாமரைப்பூப் போன்ற திருக்கண்களை, தன்னை குளிர நோக்கினமை நம்மாழ்வார் கூறியவாறு,  நம்மேல் வைத்த கடாக்ஷத்தை பற்றி மட்டுமே பேருவகை கொள்தல் நலம். 

Today (22.8.2026) is  day 1  of Thirupavithrothsavam at Thiruvallikkeni –  and Sri Parthasarathi Perumal  had grand purappadu at Thiruvallikkeni.  Apart from the beautiful crown, the big garlands and His most attractive face, one can worship the silken threads (pavithram) adorning Him. 

.. .. திருவல்லிக்கேணி திவ்யக்ஷேத்திரத்தில்  இன்று பவித்ரோத்சவத்தின் முதல் நாள்..  இன்று மாலை நம் ஸ்ரீபார்த்தசாரதி பெருமாள், சங்கு சக்கரங்கள் மறைந்தவாறு சாற்றப்பட்ட பெரிய மாலையுடன், அழகு கிரீடம்,  புதுப்பூணூல் சாற்றிக்கொண்டு அற்புத புறப்பாடு கண்டு அருளினார். இன்றைய படங்களிலே பெருமாள் பல வண்ணப் பட்டு மாலைகள் அணிந்து இருப்பதை சேவிக்கலாம். இவை பவித்ரம் என்று அழைக்கப்படுபவை.  பல்வேறு உத்சவங்களில் ஆவணி மாதம் நிகழும் பவித்ரோத்சவம் சிறப்பு வாய்ந்தது. பவித்ரம் என்ற சொல்லுக்கு 'சுத்தம் அதாவது பரிபூரணமான அப்பழுக்கு இல்லாத ஒன்று' என்று பொருள் கொள்ளலாம். 

திருப்பவித்ரோத்சவம் ஆவணி மாதம் ஏழு நாட்கள் நடை பெறுகிறது. இந்த திருப்பவித்ரோத்சவத்தில் திருக்கோவிலில் யாகசாலை அமைத்து ஸ்ரீபார்த்தசாரதி பெருமாள் உத்சவர் திருமுன்பு திருக்கோவில் பட்டாச்சார்யர்களால் யாக யக்னங்களும், வேதவிற்பன்னர்களால் வேத பாரயணமும்;  அத்யாபகர்கள் மற்றும் திவ்யபிரபந்த கோஷ்டியினரால் அருளிச்செயல் - திருவாய்மொழி  சேவை சாற்றுமுறையும் நடைபெறுகிறது. ஏழு நாட்களும் திருவீதி புறப்பாடு நடக்கிறது. கோவிலில் எல்லா எம்பெருமானுக்கும் பட்டு நூலிலான பல வண்ணங்கள் உடைய திருப்பவித்ர மாலை சாற்றப்படுகிறது.  

 

திருவுடம்பு வான்சுடர் செந்தாமரை கண்கைகமலம்,

திருவிடமே மார்வம் அயனிடமே  கொப்பூழ்,

ஒருவிடமுமெந்தை பெருமாற்கரனேயோ,

ஒருவிடமொன்றின்றி என்னுள்  கலந்தானுக்கே 

 

சுவாமி நம்மாழ்வார் ~ எம்பெருமான் ஸ்ரீமன் நாராயணன் தம்மிடம் வந்தடைந்ததை - 'ஒருவு இடம் ஒன்று இன்றி' -  நீங்கின இடம் ஒன்றுமில் வாதபடி (ஸகல அவயவங்களிலும்) தன்னோடு சேர்ந்தவனாய் உள்ள எந்தை என அதிசயிக்கிறார். அதிஅத்புதமான நம் எம்பெருமான் - திருமேனி திவ்யமான ஒளியை உடைத்தாயிராநின்றது.  திருக்கண்கள் செந்தாமரை மலர்களாயிரா நின்றன; திருக்ககைகள் - தாமரை மலர்களாயின ; அவரது திருமார்பு - பிராட்டிக்கு இருப்பிடயாயிற்று; திருநாபியோ ப்ரம்மதேவனுக்கு  உறைவிடமாயிற்று;  அத்தகைய சிறந்த எம்பெருமானே நாம் அனுதினமும் வணங்கும், நம்மை உய்விக்கும் ஸ்ரீமன் நாராயணன். 

Pavithrotsavam is an annual ritual - the word itself is a derivative from the combination of two words - 'Pavithram (holy) and Uthsavam (Festivity).    This Uthsavam is penitential as also propitiatory  ~ for sure, there is nothing good or bad for the Ultimate Benefactor, the Lord who gracefully blesses in all our endeavours.  It is our own attempt to get rid of the evils that might have been caused by the omissions and commissions in the performance of various rituals throughout the year.   

Sriman Narayanan in Sri Vaishnavaite philosophy beholds the Best of everything and cannot in any manner be having anything in short. The festivals are only intended to be error correction [dosha nirvana] of the rituals that we, the humans conduct and fail in some manner.  Lord only accepts them with Divine Grace, blessing us all the time beyond what we deserve.  For a Srivaishnavaite, nothing needs to be done by self as Sriman Narayana with His abundant opulence will shower his blessings and guide us to do kainkaryam to Him.   

During this Thiru Pavithrothsavam, yaga salai is constructed and vedic chants made by Thirukovil Battars; alongside homam – there would be arulicheyal as also veda parayanam by Adyapaka goshti.  In the sacred maha Yagnam - aswaththa samith, cow ghee, bilvapatrams - vilva ilai, lotus are used.     Let us all have darshan of Sri Parthasarathi, Thirupavithorthsava yagnam and have the Divine Blessings.  

 

திருப்பவித்ரோத்சவம் மகிமை பற்றி படித்தது " எம்பெருமானிடம் உள்ள ஸாந்நித்யம் குறையாது இருப்பதற்கு ப்ராயச்சித்தமாக பல உத்ஸவங்கள் ஏற்படுத்தப்பட்டுள்ளன. அமுதுபடிகள் ஸமர்ப்பிப்பதில் ஏற்படும் லோபத்தை (குறைபாடுகளை) நீக்குதற்பொருட்டு ஜ்யேஷ்டாபிஷேகத்திற்கு அடுத்த நாள் “திருப்பாவாடை உத்சவம் ” கொண்டாடப்படுகிறது. திருவாராதனம் ஸமர்ப்பிப்பதில் ஏற்படும் குறைபாடுகள் மற்றும் மந்திரலோபம் ஆகியவற்றை நீக்குவதற்காகப் “பவித்ரோத்ஸவம்” கொண்டாடப் படுகிறது. பெருமாள் திருமேனி முழுவதும் பவித்ரத்தை (புனிதத்தன்மையை) உண்டு பண்ணும் பவித்ரம் (முடிச்சுக்கள் கொண்ட தர்ப்பங்கள்) சாற்றப்படுகிறது. முடிச்சோதியாய் ஒளி படைத்த கிரீடத்தை தரித்த எம்பெருமானின் திருமேனி ஸௌந்தர்யம் அளவிட முடியாதது.  ஸகல சேதன அசேதநப் பொருள்களென்ன எல்லாவற்றையும்  தன்னுள்ளே வைத்துள்ளதனாலேயே நாராயணனென்னுந் திருநாமம் படைத்தவ எம்பெருமான் பரிபூர்ணன்.  சௌலப்யம், சௌசீல்யம், ஆர்ஜவம், வாத்சல்யம், சுவாமித்வம் என எல்லா கல்யாண குணங்களையும்  தன்னகத்தே கொண்டவன். எம்பெருமானுக்கு குறை என்பதே இல்லை.  எம்பெருமானின் திருவடிகளையே சரணாய் கொண்டு கைங்கர்யம் செய்யும் அவனடியார்கள் இது போன்ற உத்சவங்களை சிறப்புற நடத்தி, ஆனந்தம் கொள்கிறோம்.

Beau Flowers adorned by Parthasarathi Emperuman 2026

Very important Pre-script: this long winding post is not on flowers (Roses) but dedicated to Sri Parthasarathi Perumal, pardon me for the wandering words that precede the last para. 

"La Violetera" is a 1914 cuplé song [a popular risqué Spanish theatre song style], with the rhythm of a habanera, composed by José Padilla and with lyrics by Eduardo Montesinos, originally performed by Carmen Flores. It was first popularized by Raquel Meller, and later by Sara Montiel. The instrumental version is also popular as a tango. In Spanish, a Violetera is a woman who sells violets.   

Flowers are beautiful  . .. .. they pervade fragrance and happiness.  Imagine walking in a beautiful garden -  sweet scent would waft  through the air.  In every  Temple they pervade divinity.  The blooming and fragrance is perhaps  part of a strategy that helps flowering plants reproduce themselves and spread their species.   Among all flowers, Roses are universally admired for their captivating beauty, characterized by soft, velvety petals, vibrant colors ranging from deep red to soft pastel shades, and a distinctive, alluring fragrance. Symbolizing love, passion, and perfection, these timeless flowers are celebrated for their elegance in gardens and as expressions of deep emotion.  The beauty of  roses  lies in their perfect blend of visual elegance, intoxicating fragrance, and deep symbolic meaning. Often called the "Queen of Flowers," they have been admired for over 35 million years for their velvety petals and vibrant hues. 

Long ago in 1954 the move ‘Rajee En kanmani” hit the screens. 

"மல்லிகைப்பூ ஜாதி ரோஜா... முல்லைப்பூ வேணுமா...

தொட்டாலும் கைமணக்கும் பூவோ...

பட்டான ரோஜா பூவோ... கதம்பம் வேணுமா..."

 

The song - "La Violetera"  was composed in 1914 by José Padilla during his stay in Paris as director of the orchestra of the Casino de Paris music hall. The lyricist was Eduardo Montesinos. Its premiere took place in Barcelona with a performance by Carmen Flores. It was singer Raquel Meller who first popularized the song in Spain and France, and later worldwide.  Sung in French by Dalida, it was released in 1956 in the first high quality release of the song on vinyl.   

The 1958 blockbuster musical film The Violet Seller, by Luis César Amadori, was inspired by the song. The version of "La Violetera" performed by Sara Montiel in the film, with arrangement by composer Gregorio García Segura and recorded by Hispavox, also became worldwide famous.   

முதலில் குறிப்பிடப்பட்டிருந்த பாடல் - 'ராஜீ என் கண்மணி'  திரைப்படத்தில் இடம்பெற்ற புகழ்பெற்ற பாடல் "மல்லிகைப்பூ ஜாதி ரோஜா" என்ற இந்த பாடலை,  எஸ். ஹனுமந்த ராவ் இசையில்   R. பாலசரஸ்வதி தேவி பாடி இருந்தார், ஜோஸ் பாடிலா இசையமைத்த ஸ்பானிஷ் பாடலான "லா வைலெடெரா" (La Violetera) இன் அடிப்படையில் இப்பாடல் உருவாக்கப்பட்டதாம். 

Rajee En Kanmani (English: Rajee, my darling) produced by SS Vasan hit the screens in 1954 - directed by K. J. Mahadevan and produced by S. S. Vasan. The film starred T. R. Ramachandran and Sriranjani Jr. It  was remade in Telugu with the title Rajee Naa Pranam in the same year. The music was composed by S. Hanumantha Rao, and the lyrics were penned by Sangu Subramaniam. The song "Malligai Poo Jaadhi Roja" sung by R. Balasaraswathi Devi became a hit; it was  is based on "La Violetera," a Spanish song. 

The proverb “Every rose has its thorn” symbolizes the balance of life, where joy and challenges coexist. It reminds us that beauty and hardship are intertwined, and both are essential to living a full life.

Sunshine through the rain !! - Purattasi Krishnapaksha Ekadasi 2025

How to live a luxurious life ! or enjoy the life as it is !!  ~  the immediate answer could be – ‘day-dreaming’ !  It does rain in Chennai during the month of Avani .. .. and rarely there could be rain with Sun too shining !! 

 

2) A young boy's mother tells him to stay at home during a day when the sun is shining through the rain, warning him that kitsune (foxes) have their weddings during such weather, and do not like to be seen. He defies her wishes, wandering into a forest where he witnesses the slow wedding procession of the kitsune. He is spotted by them and runs home. His mother meets him at the front door, barring the way, and says that an angry fox had come by the house, leaving behind a tantō knife. The mother gives the knife to the boy and tells him that he must go and beg forgiveness from the foxes, refusing to let him return home unless he does so.  

For almost all – dreams are but normal.  Have you ever had that trippy moment where, in the middle of a dream, you suddenly wake-up or  know you’re dreaming? Maybe you even controlled what happened next, flying across a cityscape, talking to a long-lost friend, or rewriting the ending of a nightmare.  There is popular saying that people go any distance – chasing their dreams !

 

Every night as I hit the bed, my eyes close and I fall asleep –  they start ! – almost unending .. .. when I get up whether in between in the dead of night or early morning, I can almost recall the story that was running !  … .. ‘dreams’ ! .. .. Dreams can be entertaining, disturbing, or downright bizarre. We all dream, even if we don't remember it the next day. 

 

Dreams are the mental and emotional experiences—a succession of thoughts, images, and sensations—that occur during sleep, most vividly during the REM (rapid eye movement) stage. While the exact purpose of dreaming is still debated, leading theories suggest dreams help the brain process information, solve problems, sort emotions, and even practice responses to threats. Dreams can range from pleasant to terrifying and often draw on recent experiences, though they can also be fantastical. 

Dreams are the stories the brain tells during the REM (rapid eye movement) stage of sleep. People typically have multiple dreams each night that grow longer as sleep draws to a close. Over a lifetime, a person may dream for five or six full years!!  How best to examine all that content remains a source of debate.  Almost by definition, a dream is something you are aware of at some level. It may be fragmentary, disconnected, and illogical, but if you aren’t aware of it during sleep then it isn’t a dream. Many people will protest, “I never remember my dreams!,” but that is a different matter entirely. Failing to remember a dream later on when you’re awake doesn’t mean you weren’t aware of it when it occurred. It just means the experience was never really carved into your memory, has decayed in storage, or isn’t accessible for easy call back. 

That strange in between state is called lucid dreaming, and it has fascinated scientists, psychologists, and sleep researchers for decades.  Most of the time, we drift through these dreamscapes without questioning them. But in a lucid dream, something remarkable happens, your brain becomes self-aware inside the dream.

Researchers say this awareness comes from the prefrontal cortex, the brain’s reasoning and decision-making hub flickering awake while you’re still asleep. Normally, this area takes a break during dreams, which is why your dream logic feels so bizarre (like not questioning why your math teacher just turned into a flamingo or playing a game of Chess with a person whom you briefly saw standing next to your bike in the signal this evening) 

There have been researches on lucid dreams in controlled sleep lab experiments, with  researchers asking  lucid dreamers to move their eyes in specific patterns once they became aware in their dream. A famous study even found that when lucid dreamers performed a task like “counting” or “practicing hand movements” in a dream, the same brain areas lit up as they would in waking life. The dream world, it seems, can mimic the waking brain surprisingly closely.   Science shows it’s a real phenomenon, not just a mystical idea. The human brain is wild enough to let you live two lives at once: the one where you’re awake, and the one where your sleeping self knows it’s in a dream.

 

Moving totally away, for Srivaishnavaite, be it thought, action, wisdom, plan, strategy or even dreams – life is all about thinking of Sriman Narayana, singing paeans on Him and doing kainkaryams unto Him and his devotees.

ஸ்வாமி நம்மாழ்வார் திருவாய்மொழியில் - எம்பெருமான் திருவடிகளை சென்னிக்கு அணியாக கொண்டு அனுபவிக்கப் பெற்றோர்க்கு  கிட்டும் கிடைத்தற்கரிய பலன்களை விவரிக்கிறார்.  எம்பெருமானிடத்திலே சரணாகதி  செய்தல்,  நாம் இடர்படும் போதும், மகிழ்வுறும் போதும் இறைச் சிந்தனையுடன் இருப்பது நமக்கு இடர் இல்லாப் பெருவாழ்வை அளிக்கிறது.

இன்று 17.9.2025  கிருஷ்ணபக்ஷ ஏகாதசி - இன்று புரட்டாசி மாச பிறப்பும் கூட. திருவல்லிக்கேணியில் ஸ்ரீபார்த்தசாரதி எம்பெருமான் அற்புதமான அலங்காரத்துடன், அழகான மலர் மாலைகளுடன் பெரிய மாட வீதி புறப்பாடு கண்டருளினார். இன்றைய புறப்பாட்டில் ஸ்ரீபார்த்தசாரதி எம்பெருமானின் திவ்யசேவை.

Allikkeni Azhagan, Sri Parthasarathi Emperuman is the saviour  ~ the great Emperuman to whom the celestials bow their crowned heads at His feet offering choicest fresh flowers.  Here are some photos of that great Emperuman at Thiruvallikkeni divyadesam. 

   

Before concluding – if you remember para 2 of this post : it was the plot of ‘Dreams’ - Akira Kurosawa's Dreams, a  magical realist anthology film of eight vignettes written and directed by Akira Kurosawa that hit the screens in 1990. Inspired by actual recurring dreams that Kurosawa had,  it starred Akira Terao, Martin Scorsese, Chishū Ryū, Mieko Harada and Mitsuko Baisho. It was the director's first film in 45 years in which he was the sole author of the screenplay. An international co-production of Japan and the United States,  it was made  with assistance from George Lucas and Steven Spielberg, and funded by Warner Bros.  the movie anthology addresses themes such as childhood, spirituality, art, death, and mistakes and transgressions made by humans against nature.  The film does not have a single narrative, but is episodic in nature, following the adventures of a "surrogate Kurosawa" through eight different segments, or "dreams", each one titled. The one described at start is from -  "Sunshine Through the Rain"

The story begins with the murder of the Havelocks, a British couple in Jamaica who have refused to sell their estate to Herr von Hammerstein, a former Gestapo officer who is the chief of counterintelligence for the Cuban secret service. They are killed by two Cuban hitmen at the direction of their leader, Major Gonzales; all three work for von Hammerstein. The Havelocks turn out to be close friends of M, who served as the groom's best man during their wedding in 1925. M subsequently gives _____ a voluntary assignment, unconnected to sanctioned Secret Service duties; to travel to Vermont via Canada, find von Hammerstein at his rented estate at Echo Lake and assassinate him as a warning to future criminals who might think to target British citizens.

எம்பெருமானுடைய அர்ச்சாவதார திருமேனிகள் அற்புதமானவை ! நம்மை ஈர்த்து ஆட்கொண்டு மறுபடி, மறுபடி அந்த லீலாவிபூதியில் ஆழுமாறு அழைக்க வல்லன.  எம்பெருமானைக் கண்ட கண்கள் மற்றோரு எந்த அழகையும் ரசிக்க மாட்டா !  ... அவனிடத்தில் ஈடுபாடு கொண்ட பக்தர்கள், அவனை மற்று அல்லால் வேறு எவரையும் தொழ மாட்டார்கள்.  திருவல்லிக்கேணி போன்ற திவ்யதேசங்களில் வாசம் செய்யும் பலன் - இத்தகைய எம்பெருமானின் க்ருபா கடாக்ஷத்தை தடையற அனுபவிக்கலாம்,  அவர்தம் திருவீதி புறப்பாடுகளில் ! 

Eyes are beautiful !  - or beautiful people have beautiful eyes !! – you could have noticed ‘eyes’ alone in the back of some autos !  -  some say that  where words are limited, our eyes speak volumes and it was pronouncedly  true during  Covid-19 times, when masks covered faces, allowing eyes to express themselves more freely !!  but do we really take care of them as we look after our skin? We exfoliate, moisturise and apply sunscreen to keep our skin healthy, we tend to miss the most vital part – the eyes where dryness, wrinkles, fine lines and puffiness under the eyes can cause nightmares to anyone. 

In the Renaissance era, artists like Leonardo Da Vinci, as well as architects used a mathematical equation to make their artwork scientifically perfect. It is denoted by the Greek letter 'phi'. Years later, scientists developed mathematical formulae and software to analyse facial features. According to a  cosmetic surgeon - “First, the length and width of the face are measured, followed by dividing the length by the width. Then three other segments, namely the space between the hairline to a spot between the eyes, space from between the eyes to the bottom of the nose, and from the bottom of the nose to the bottom of the chin, are measured. If the numbers are equal, a person is considered more beautiful. Finally, statisticians measure other facial features to determine symmetry and proportion.”  !!! 

there could be much more, yet – to us the most captivating eyes are of course those  of Sriman Narayana and Thayar.

Today 10^th  July 2024 – is Makham   nakshathiram – that of Thirumazhisai azhwar, being day  5 of the Kodai utsavam – Perumal purappadu - chinna mada   veethi – through Gate aam.   

பரமபதத்தில் அளவு கடந்த இன்பமநுபவிக்கும் நித்யமுக்தராலும்  ஆசைப்பட்டு நாடுதற்குத் தகுந்தவை எம்பெருமானின் திருவுருவங்கள் .. .. அவைதாம் கிடைக்கப்பெற்ற நாம் எவ்வளவு பாக்கியம் செய்தவர்கள்.  கோடை உத்சவத்தில் ஐந்தாம் நாள் வீதியில் திருவிருத்தம் சேவிக்கப்பெறுகிறது.  இதோ இங்கே சுவாமி நம்மாழ்வாரின் ஒரு அற்புத திருவிருத்த பாசுரம் :-  

ஈர்வனவேலும்  அஞ்சேலும், உயிர்மேல் மிளிர்ந்திவையோ

பேர்வனவோவல்ல  தெய்வநல்வேள்கணை, பேரொளியே

சோர்வன நீலச் சுடர்விடும் மேனியம்மான்  விசும்பூர்

தேர்வன, தெய்வ மன்னீரகண்ணோ  விச்செழுங்கயலே. 

வேல்கள் கொடிய ஆயுதங்கள் - பகைவர் தம் நெஞ்சை பிளக்க வல்லன; அவை மிக கூர்மையானவை.  அத்தகைய கூரிய  வேல்கள் போலவும் அழகிய சேல்மீன்கள்போலவும் உள்ளனவான - இவை  எனது  உயிரை வசப்படுத்தும் பொருட்டு அதன் மேற்பாய்ந்து  அதைவிட்டு நீங்குவன அல்ல. !!  தெய்வத்தன்மையையுடைய அழகிய  மன்மதனுடைய அம்புகளினுடைய சிறந்த ஒளியையே  தாம் வெளியிடுவன; நீலமணியினுடைய சுடர் ஒளியை வீசுகின்ற  திருமேனியையுடையனான எம்பெருமானது திருநாடாகிய பரமபத்தை தனக்கு, ஒப்பாகத் தேடுந் தன்மையுடையன - கொழுத்த கயல் மீன்களென்று சொல்லத்தக்க இவை - மோஹினியென்னும் பெண் தெய்வத்தையொத்த உமது  கண்களோ? - என நாயிகா பாவத்தில் வினவுகிறார் நம்மாழ்வார்.

The plot at the start is that of famous Bond movie – “For Your Eyes Only” released in 1981 globally, directed by John Glen (in his feature directorial debut) and produced by Albert R. Broccoli. The film starred Roger Moore as the fictional MI6 agent James Bond, and co-stars Carole Bouquet, Chaim Topol, Lynn-Holly Johnson and Julian Glover.

The twelfth film in the James Bond franchise produced by Eon Productions, For Your Eyes Only was written by Richard Maibaum and Michael G. Wilson, based on two Ian Fleming short stories "For Your Eyes Only" and "Risico".  For Your Eyes Only is a collection of short stories by the British author Ian Fleming, featuring the fictional British Secret Service agent Commander James Bond, the eighth book to feature the character. It was first published by Jonathan Cape on 11 April 1960.

The collection contains five short stories: "From a View to a Kill", "For Your Eyes Only", "Quantum of Solace", "Risico" and "The Hildebrand Rarity". Four of the stories were adaptations of plots for a television series that was never filmed, while the fifth Fleming had written previously but not published. Fleming undertook some minor experiments with the format, including a story written as an homage to W. Somerset Maugham, an author he greatly admired.

Thirumylai Madhavar Pavithrothsavam 2021 ~ 'ayur arogya saukhyam'

Ayur Arogya Saukhyam ~ a divine blessing for the well-being. Can there be a better way of blessing humanity to live happily with good health .. .. a   great theme of life, not to negate desire but to fulfill every desire to its ultimate degree –lead a life useful and meaningful and .. .. well spent in kainkaryam to Emperuman and bagavathas.

ஆச்சர்யசக்தியுக்தன்  என்ன ஒரு அழகான சொல்லாடல் !  எம்பெருமான்  கிருஷ்ணாவதாரத்திலே பல சமயங்களில் தான் ஒரு யுகபுருஷன் என்பதை வெளிப்படுத்தினான்.   திருவாய்ப்பாடியிலே வளரும்போது, மண்ணை தின்றதற்க்காக யசோதையானவள் மிரட்ட, பயந்தவன்போலே நடித்த கண்ணபிரான், தனது வாயை திறந்து அன்னைக்கு காண்பிக்க, அங்கே அவள் அகில உலகங்களையும் கண்டு பிரமித்து தன்னருகே உள்ள அணைத்து பெண்டிருக்கும் அப்பேற்றை அளித்து, அவர்கள் அனைவரும்,  இவன் ஸாமாந்யனான இடைப்பிள்ளையல்லன்; ஸாக்ஷாத் பரமபுருஷனே இப்படிவந்து அவதரித்துள்ளான்  என்று கொண்டாடிக் கூறினார்கள்.

எம்பெருமானுடைய பல்லாயிர திருநாமங்களை கூவி 'கோவிந்தா!, மாதவா!, கேசவா!, நாராயணா!, கண்ணா!, மதுசூதனா, ஹ்ரிஷீகேசா' எனப்பாடி ஆனந்தித்து அவனை அவனுறையும் பல்வேறு கோவில்களில் சென்று சேவித்து, அவனது உத்சவங்களில் வாகன சேவைகளில் கண்டு இன்புறுகிறோம். திருமயிலை திருக்கோவிலிலே  ஸ்ரீமாதவப்பெருமாள் மிக மிக அழகாக சேவை சாதிக்கிறார்.

In the capital of Tamil Nadu is the pristine Temple of Sri Parthasarathi Swami at Thiruvallikkeni.   Though not the earliest British settlement in the Indian Peninsula, Madras possessed a peculiar interest as constituting, with the exception of the insignificant site at Armagon, the first territorial acquisition by the English in Hindustan.  Centuries  earlier to  East India company these occurrences – the places of Thiruvallikkeni and Thirumylai thrived.  They predate British rule by several centuries;   “Mylapore” [Thiru Mayilai],   has been a cultural hub; one of the oldest residential parts of the city, also known as VEdapuri and Mayurapuri.  Thirumayilai has the avathara sthalam of Sri Peyalwar at Arundale Street – nearer is Sri Madhava Perumal thirukovil.  Mylai is famous for Sri Kapaleeswarar temple which is connected with the S'aivite Nayanmars.   

Mādhava  is among the most beautiful names of Lord Sree Krishna -  the  word mādhava in Sanskrit is  a vriddhi derivation of the word madhu (मधु) meaning  honey. It therefore functions as an adjective describing anything relating to honey and sweetness. The word  describes a person descended from the Madhu clan, just like rāghava, yādava and Kaurava describe a person descended from the Raghu, Yadu and the Kuru clans respectively.  King Madhu, was a great king who belonged to yadavkul, After Madhu his great grandson Vrishni was born in yadavkul, Vrishni was a great king and after 5th generation of King Vrishni Lord Krishna was born in vrishni clan. Due to same lineage of Krishna was called Madhava.

You may have heard this beautiful sloka sung by KJ Jesudoss and many other Carnatic signers on many stages – “Yogeentharanam .. .. “

योगीन्द्राणां त्वदङ्गेष्वधिकसुमधुरं मुक्तिभाजां निवासो

भक्तानां कामवर्षद्युतरुकिसलयं नाथ ते पादमूलम् ।

नित्यं चित्तस्थितं मे पवनपुरपते कृष्ण कारुण्यसिन्धो

हृत्वा निश्शेषतापान् प्रदिशतु परमानन्दसन्दोहलक्ष्मीम् ॥१०॥

Oh the most beautiful Lord Krishna, wielding the flute and providing all comfort to devotees standing at Guruvaryur - Ocean of mercy, please allow the your golden feet to bless us; the great sages realize that the liberated one reside near you.    They pour all the desires of their devotees, and are like the sprouts of the celestial tree. O Lord of Guruvaayur! May those feet always rest in my heart. O Ocean of Compassion! destroy all my sorrows and confer a full abundant flow of Supreme Bliss.

~ the most sincere beautiful prayer written by Melppathur Narayana Bhattathiri in his Narayaneeyam.   The divine origin of Narayaneeyam dates back to 1560s in the divyakshetram of Thirunavaya (Thirunavai Mukundhan thirukovil) in Malainadu Kerala.  Narayana Bhattathri’s Guru “Achyuta pisharadi” fell victim to a severe attack of paralysis, and suffered unbearable pain. Bhattathiri desired to find a cure for his master and fervently prayed for the disease to be transferred to himself, freeing his Guru from suffering. Bhagawan Krishna granted Bhattathiri his wish, and he soon became crippled. Once, when Bhattathiri, unable to move, was carried into the Guruvayur temple, he composed Sree narayaneeyam by reciting one dasaka, consisting of ten verses, every day. The legend has it that after 99 dasakas, Bhagawan Guruvayurappan  appeared before the him and on the 100th day he wrote about the glorious vision of the Lord in the form of Venugopala after which he was cured of his ailment. In the 100th canto, the poet  named this divine  work as Narayaneeyam.  From the word Ayurarogyasaukhyam appearing at the end of the 100th dasaka, scholars have worked out the date of completion of Narayaneeyam as 28th day of the Malayalam month of Vrichikam corresponding to 27th November 1587. So every year 28th of Vrischikam is celebrated as Narayaneeya Dinam.

Malainadu Kerala was once a very divine place and has produced so many Gurus and those immersed in bakthi.  It had its deep impact in tinseldom too.  Sree Guruvayurappan, on the origin and glory  of Guruvayur Temple  is a Malayalam film released in 1972 - directed and produced by P. Subramaniam. The film starred Gemini Ganesan, Sharada, Kaviyoor Ponnamma, Thikkurissi Sukumaran Nair and Jose Prakash in the lead roles. The music was by Shri  V. Dakshinamoorthy – and here is a great song on the lyrics of Narayaneeyam “Agrepashyami”   sung by mellifluously by K Jesudoss.
