SP Santhosh IPS has a past life. He hides that from his wife Gokila. Gokila loves her husband Santhosh and her son Ashok  .. .. .. the knot is she is strong and will never accept lies and would never forgive a liar  !!    At one point, upon learning that her husband Santhosh was a petty thief, she confronts him and leaves him and their son. She moves into her father's home, who is a Justice and applies for divorce in court but the judgement is given in favor of Santhosh.  Though Santhosh wins the case but he still feels guilty and resigns from his SP job.

கல்யாணவசந்தம் இராகம் கருநாடக இசையின்  இராகங்களில் ஒன்றாகும். இது 21வது மேளகர்த்தா இராகமாகிய, "வேத" என்றழைக்கப்படும் 4வது சக்கரத்தின் 3வது மேளமாகிய கீரவாணியின் ஜன்னிய இராகம் ஆகும்.  

Kalyanavasantam  is a rāgam in Carnatic music - a janya rāgam (derived scale) from the 21st melakartha scale Keeravani. It is a janya scale, as it does not have all the seven swaras (musical notes) in the ascending scale.  Kalyanavasantam is an asymmetric rāgam that does not contain rishabham or panchamam in the ascending scale.   

There are many  compositions set to Kalyanavasantam rāgam that include some popular kritis  

•          Nadaloludai and Kanulu takani composed by Tyagaraja

•          Innudaya Baarade composed by Purandara Dasa

By total involvement in that music through countless ragas which result by the manipulation of the seven notes of music and which fulfills all the righteous desires. Know that it is by this experience of nada that the trinity - had done upasana. Tyagaraja is aware of this.

If you are 50+, most likely you have heard this beautiful song of Illayaraja :

It was a hit song from movie “Rishi Moolam” – (transl. The Origins of a Sage)  directed by S. P. Muthuraman and written by Mahendran released in 1980.  It starred  Sivaji Ganesan and K. R. Vijaya and was based on Mahendran's play of the same name. The film was originally titled Dhisaigal Thirumbum.  The song "Aimbadhilum Aasai Varum" was a big hit and  was shot in Kallikottai, Kerala. 

This song - "Nenjil Ulla kaayam onru’  written by Kaviyarasu Kannadhasan to the music of Maestro Ilayaraja was sung by Jayachandran  was set to raag Kalyana vasanthaa.

Sri Azhagiya Singar Surya prabhai 2025 ~ கதிராயிரமிரவி கலந்தெரித்தால் ஒத்த !!

 

ஏக காலத்தில் ஆயிரஞாயிறு உதித்தாற்போல் கண்கொண்டு காணவொண்ணாதபடி ஜ்வலியா நின்ற கிரீடத்தையுடையவனாய் மஹாநுபாவனான சக்கரவர்த்தித் திருமகன் எழுந்தருளியிருக்குமிடம் யாது?  திருவல்லிக்கேணி பிரம்மோத்சவத்தில் நான்காம் நாள் காலை சூர்யப்பிரபை.  மாலை சந்திரப்ரபை வாகனங்கள்.   சூரியனின் ஒளியைப் "பகலொளி' என்றும், சந்திரனிலிருந்து வரும் ஒளியை "நிலவொளி' என்றும் சங்க பாடல்களில் காட்டப்பட்டுள்ளது. 

In the ongoing Aani brahmothsavam of Sri Azhagiya Singa Perumal, today is day 4 – and it is Surya Prabhai in the morning.

Compared with the billions of other stars in the Universe,  it  is remarkable.  It is infact  a ball of gas (92.1 percent hydrogen and 7.8 percent helium) held together by its own gravity. It is  4,500,000,000 years old!  That's a lot of zeroes. That’s four and a half billion.  Going by what others do, i.e., burning  for about nine or 10 billion years – it can be said tobe halfway through its life. So no worries, it still has about 5,000,000,000—five billion (500 crores !)—years to go.  It is the SUN.

சென்னையில் வெய்யில் - கோடை காலம் முடிந்து, ஜூலை மாதம் வந்த பின்பும்  இன்னமும் வெய்யில் உக்கிரம் தணியவில்லை. மிகவும் வெக்கையாக அதிகம் வேர்வை கொட்டுகிறது.  கோடை காலத்தில், சுட்டெரிக்கும் சூரியனை குறிக்க   நிறையவே சொற்கள் உள்ளன.  நாம்  அனுதினமும் கண்களாலே பார்த்து சேவிக்க வல்லவன் - சூரிய பகவான்.  சூரியனுக்கு, : ஆதவன், ஆதித்யன், கதிரவன், ஞாயிறு, பகலவன், கனலி,  வெய்யோன், பானு, சித்திரபானு, வெஞ்சுடரோன், செங்கதிரோன்,      திவாகரன்,  தினகரன், தினமணி, பரிதி, பாற்கரன்,   மித்திரன்,   அனலி,  அலரி,   பகலோன்,   கிரணமாலி, - - - என பற்பல  பெயர்கள் உண்டு.   ஞாயிறு என்றவுடன் நமக்கு வார விடுமுறையான கிழமை ஞாபகம் வரலாம்.  சூரியன்  என்பது கதிரவ அமைப்பின் மையத்தில் உள்ள விண்மீன் ஆகும்.   கதிரவ அமைப்பு (Solar System) அல்லது சூரிய மண்டலம் அல்லது சூரியக் குடும்பம் என்பது கதிரவனுக்கும் அதைச் சுற்றி வரும் பொருட்ளுக்கும் இடையே உள்ள ஈர்ப்புவிசைப் பிணைப்பால் உருவான ஒரு அமைப்பாகும். இது கதிரவனைச் சுற்றி வரும் எட்டுக் கோள்களையும், ஐந்து குறுங்கோள்களையும் உள்ளடக்கியது ஆகும் என்று உலகளாவிய வானியல் ஒன்றியம் வரையறுத்துள்ளது.

Science is very interesting !  - When those five billion years are up, the Sun will become a red giant. That means the Sun will get bigger and cooler at the same time. When that happens, it will be different than the Sun we know today. As a red giant, our Sun will become about 2,000 times brighter than it is now!   In what is being considered a particularly rare event, scientists are projecting that the Sun will be an unusually cool customer by the year 2050. Earth is bound to become a dry, scorched rock, as our sun becomes a red giant star. What’s more, as the Milky Way and Andromeda galaxies collide, our sun and Earth (and the rest of our solar system) are expected to be hurled outward, away from the galactic center, to the outskirts of a new large galaxy created in the collision.

Science keeps throwing newer facts and changing facts !  -  the  source of potentially hazardous solar particles, released from the Sun at high speed during storms in its outer atmosphere, has been located for the first time by researchers at UCL and George Mason University, Virginia, USA.  These particles are highly charged and, if they reach Earth’s atmosphere, can potentially disrupt satellites and electronic infrastructure, as well as pose a radiation risk to astronauts and people in airplanes. In 1859, during what’s known as the Carrington Event, a large solar storm caused telegraphic systems across Europe and America to fail. With the modern world so reliant on electronic infrastructure, the potential for harm is much greater. To minimize the danger, scientists are seeking to understand how these streams of particles are produced so they can better predict when they might affect Earth. In the new study, published in Science Advances, researchers analyzed the composition of solar energetic particles heading towards Earth, and found they had the same “fingerprint” as plasma located low in the Sun’s corona, close to the middle region of the Sun’s atmosphere, the chromosphere.

சூரியன் தங்கமென பளபளக்கும் எண்ணிறந்த  கிரணங்களையுடையவன்  - அத்தகைய  ஆதித்யர்கள் ஆயிரம் பேர்  ஜ்வலித்தாற்போல்  நீண்ட திருவபிஷேகத்தை உடையவனுமான  இராமபிரான்  எழுந்தருளியிருக்குமிடத்தை  தேடுகிறீர்களாகில்; அவ்வெம்பெருமானை  நினைத்து, உருகி, பணி செய்ய விருப்பம் உள்ளோர்க்கு,  அவ்விடத்தை சொல்லுகின்றேன் .. .. கல் கல் என்று அதிரும் வீரக்கழலையும் போர்செய்யப் பதைக்கிற தோள்களையுமுடைய ஹிரண்யாஸுரனுடைய மார்பை நரஸிம்ஹருபியாய்க்கொண்டு, பிளந்து, அதனாலுண்டான  ரத்தத்தை அளைந்த கைகளோடு கூடி இருந்தானை, அத்தகைய சீற்றந்தோற்றத்துடன்  எழுந்தருளியிருந்த நிலைமையில் - அவ்வெம்பெருமானை உள்ளபடி  ஸேவித்தவர்கள் இருக்கின்றனர்.  இந்த அவதாரங்களையெல்லாம் எடுத்த நம் ஸ்ரீமன் நாராயணன், பாற்கடலில் துயிலும் அவன்,  பக்தர்களை காக்க திருவவதாரங்கள் எடுத்தும்,  அர்ச்சை மூர்த்தியாக, திவ்யதேசங்களிலும் நமக்காக சேவை சாதிக்கிறான்.  அந்த பரிபூர்ண எம்பெருமான் இன்று திருவல்லிக்கேணியில் - ஸ்ரீ தெள்ளியசிங்கனாய் சூர்யா பிரபையில் சேவை சாதித்தான்.

Triplicane reverberates music – in the grand Garuda seva purappadu for Sri Azhagiyia Singar, there was the traditional Nadaswaram of Chitoor Devarajulu & party;  Sri Ganapathy’s clarinet/Sax/ band troup and there was the Chanda melam – Kerala style. 

The main instruments in a Chenda Melam are the Chenda, Kombu, Kuzhal, and Elathalam. The Chenda is a cylindrical drum, and the other instruments are wind and cymbal instruments.

Welcoming our beloved to our home is a great tradition.  Thiyagayya was no ordinary mortal – he pleaded Sri Rama to come to his home !!

 Saint Thiyagaraja (Thiyagayya)  saw the reigns of four kings of Maratha dynasty but served none of them.  He was so fond of Sree Rama that his keerthanas exude bakthi rasam of the highest order.  At a time when King’s servants came searching to pick Thiyagayya to sing in the Court, he reportedly refused – his family which was in penury asked him to forego principles and earn money for their livelihood – Thiyagayya asks his heart which answered ‘nidhi sala sukhama’ -- !!      தியாகய்யர் இராமனை நெக்குருகி பாடும் ஒரு கீர்த்தனை  :

It is no longer Indian Summer – it is July, monsoon about to start in parts of India yet it has been very hot and humid in Chennai and most parts of Tamil Nadu !! 

Love looks not with the eyes, but with the mind; and therefore is winged Cupid painted blind !!  

Four Athenians run away to the forest only to have Puck the fairy make the boys fall in love with the same girl. The four run through the forest pursuing each other while Puck helps his master play a trick on the fairy queen. In the end, Puck reverses the magic, and the two couples reconcile and marry.  

Indian monsoon, provides welcome water to agricultural lands and water bodies. It blows from the northeast during cooler months and reverses direction to blow from the southwest during the warmest months of the year. This process brings large amounts of rainfall to the region during June and July. At the Equator the area near India is unique in that dominant or frequent westerly winds occur at the surface almost constantly throughout the year; with it go atmospheric instability, convectional (that is, rising and turbulent) clouds, and rain. The westerly subtropical jet stream still controls the flow of air across northern India, and the surface winds are northeasterlies.  

Our State of Tamil Nadu, has witnessed  summer rains  in the Northern part of the State. Heavy rains and flash floods were witnessed in some places in the interior districts of the State. The residents of Chennai and its suburban areas experienced light showers intermittently yet there has been no respite from the heat. The situation is likely to continue and we hope for rains which would bring  the temperatures down from the scorching heat.

 நம் சத்சம்ப்ரதாயத்திற்கு பெருமை  யாதெனில் - - மிகப்பெரிய திருக்கோவில்களும், அவற்றில் அர்ச்சாவதார திருமேனியாம் அழகு எம்பெருமான்களும்  - அவர்தமை புகழ்ந்த ஆழ்வார் பாசுரங்களும், திருவாபரணங்களும், பட்டர்கள் அற்புத சாற்றுப்படிகளும், மணமிக்க பூக்களும், அருளிச்செயல் கோஷ்டிகளும், பக்தர்களும், எம்பெருமானை திருவீதிகளில் ஏளப்பண்ணும்  ஸ்ரீபாதம் தாங்கிகளும், - அனைத்தையும் அனுபவிக்கும் பக்தர்கள், பாகவதர்களும் - அவர்கள் செய்யும் கைங்கர்யங்களுமே !  இவற்றை தவிர ஆழ்வார் பாசுரங்களுக்கு அற்புத வியாக்கியானம் அருளிச்செய்த பூர்வர்களும், இந்நாளில் காலக்ஷேபம் சாதித்து நம்மை பாசுரங்களின் அற்புத ஆழ்ந்த அர்த்தங்களை உணர்ந்து அனுபவிக்க வைக்கும் அதிகாரிகளும்.  இவற்றில் கச்சி ஸ்வாமி எனும் பிரதிவாதி பயங்கரம் அண்ணங்கராச்சார் சுவாமி நமக்கு இட்டுச்சென்ற அமுதங்கள் மிக மிக இனிப்பானவை.

Today  2^nd July 2025  is day 7 – the concluding day of Kodai Uthsavam.   During Kodai Uthsavam, Sri Parthasarathi and Ubaya Nachimar have purappadu in separate kedayams… and  on day 7  it was exceptionally grand… in every sense – He adorned a predominantly ornate white dress ~ the floral alankaram was exceptional… first it was the most fragrant  one made of mullai buds [jasmine];  then a beautiful garland made of – jasmine, vrutchi, kathambam; and a beautiful pathakkam in the posterior too.   As the Emperor, He had a wonderful Crown called ‘sigathadai’ – tightly woven around with reams of fresh  jasmine flowers with white robe and a kingly ornament atop that. 

ஆழ்வார்கள் தங்கள் பக்தியினால் எம்பெருமானிடத்திலே ஆழ்ந்து மையலுற்று அற்புத பாசுரங்களை நமக்கு அளித்தவர்கள்.  ஸ்வாமி நம்மாழ்வாரின் திருவாய்மொழியோ எக்காலத்துக்கும் ஒரு ஒப்பற்ற களஞ்சியம்.  இரண்டாம் பத்து  ஐந்தாம் திருமொழியில் ஆழ்வார் தம்மோடே எம்பெருமான் கலக்கும்போது ஒரு வடிவோடே கலந்து த்ருப்தி பெற மாட்டாதே பல வடிவுகள் கொண்டு கலந்து அநுபவிக்கும் படியை அருளிச்செய்கிறார்.  

“செங்கமலக்கழலில் சிற்றிதழ்போல் விரலில் சேர்திகழாழிகளும் கிண்கிணியும் அரையில் தங்கிய பொன்வடமும் தாள நன்மாதுளையின் பூவொடு பொன்மணியும் மோதிரமுங்கிறியும் மங்கல வைம்படையுந் தோள்வளையும் குழையும் மகரமும் வாளிகளும் சுட்டியும்” என்கிறபடியே திருவாபரணங்கள் எண்ணிறந்தவை.  எம்பெருமானுடைய திருக்குணங்களுக்கும், திருவவதாரங்களுக்கும் திவ்ய சேஷ்டிதங்களுக்கும், வாசகங்களான திருநாமங்களும் பலபலவாயிருக்கும்.  அநுபவிக்குங் காலத்தில் நாமக்ரஹணத்திற்கு இழிந்தவிடமெல்லாம் துறையாகும்.  சீலப்பேர்கள் வீரப்பேர்கள் என்று அநேகமாயிருக்குமே.  இதையே ஸ்வாமி நம்மாழ்வார் தம் பாசுரத்திலே : 

பலபலவேயாபரணம் பேரும் பலபலவே,

பலபலவே சோதி வடிவு பண்பெண்ணில்,

பலபல கண்டுண்டு கேட்டுற்றுமோந்தின்பம்,

பலபலவே ஞானமும்  பாம்பணைமேலாற்கேயோ. 

என சாதிக்கின்றார்.  திருப்பாற்கடலிலே ஆதிசேஷனைப் பள்ளியாகக் கொண்டிருக்கும் பெருமானுக்கு  பண்பு  எது என எண்ணில், ஆழ்வார் தம் கலவியாலுண்டான அழகை  நிரூபித்துப் பார்க்குமிடத்து, திருவாபரணங்கள் மிகப் பலவாயிருக்கும்;  ஒளியுருவான திருமேனி  மிகப் பலவாயிருக்கும்;  பார்த்தும் உண்டும் கேட்டும் ஸ்பர்சித்தும் முகர்ந்து  உண்டாகிற  சுகங்களும்  மிகப்பலவாயிருக்கும்;  ஞானங்களும் மிக மிகவாம்.  அவ்வளவு உயர்ந்த ஸ்ரீமந்நாரணனின் திருத்தாள்களை பற்றுவோர்க்கு  என்றென்றும் எந்த குறையுமே இராது.

Here  are some photos of day 7  Kodai Uthsava Purappadu at Thiruvallikkeni divyadesam today  - before the purappadu there were rains.  Weather relented and Sri Parthasarathi Perumal purappadu started but towards the end of South Mada Street, it rained very heavily – the purappadu was curtailed and Perumal entered Thirukkovil through the Western gate – thiruvanthikappu was performed in the mandapam before Azhagiyasingar sannathi and thence Unjal before Periya sannathi.
