Sri U Ve Kovil Kanthadai Chandamarutham Periyappangar (Doddayachar) Swami Thirunakshathiram celebrations at Thiruvallikkeni 2026

Sri Vaishnava Sampradhayam places great emphasis on following the path shown by Acharyan. Our Sampradhayam is proud of the rich lineage of greatest of Acharyas who have guided us towards salvation. One can easily discern from the Great ‘Thaniyan’ of Swami Koorathazhwaan that we observe daily –

“Lakshminatha samarambaam, Nathayamuna madhyamam – Asmath Achaarya paryanthaam, vanthe Guru parambaram”.

For a Srivaishnavaite, Acharyar leads and guides one to ultimate Sriman Narayana. My Acharyar is Cholasimhapuram Doddayachaaryar (presently Sri U. Ve. Kovil Kanthadai Chandamarutham Yoga Nrusimhan Swamy). We the Sishyas of Swami belong to the lineage, which emanated from the Holy feet of Sri Periya Perumal, Periya Pirattiar, Senai Muthalvar, Nammazhwar, Naathamunigal, Uyyakkondar, Manakkal Nambigal, Aalavanthar, Periya Nambi, Emperumaanar, Koorathazhwar, Mudaliandan, Embaar, Battar, Nanjeeyar, Nampillai, Vadakku Thiruveethipillai, Pillai Logachariyar, Thiruvoimozhipillai, Maanavala Maamunigal, Vaanamamalai Jeeyar to Doddacharyar (of whose lineage we have the present head – Sri Yoga Narasimha Swami).

நம் ஸ்ரீவைணவ சம்பிரதாயத்தின் அடிப்படையே - ஆசார்யர்கள் தான். பெரிய பெருமாள்; ஸ்ரீ ரங்கநாச்சியார், சேனை முதல்வர், நம்மாழ்வார், நாதமுனிகள், உய்யக்கொண்டார், மணக்கால் நம்பிகள், ஆளவந்தார், பெரிய நம்பி, எம்பெருமானார் இராமானுசர், கூரத்தாழ்வான், முதலியாண்டான், எம்பார், பட்டர், நஞ்சீயர், நம்பிள்ளை, பிள்ளை லோகாச்சார், திருவாய்மொழிப்பிள்ளை, பெரிய ஜீயர் எனும் நம் மணவாள மாமுனிகள், வானமாமலை ஜீயர் சுவாமி, தொட்டையங்காரப்பை சுவாமி, சண்டமாருதம் சுவாமி எனும் பெரிய சுவாமி தொட்டையாச்சர் என எங்கள் ஆச்சார்யர் குலம் நீள்கிறது. பெரியப்பங்கார் ஸ்வாமிக்கு பிறகு அவரது திருக்குமாரர் ஸ்ரீ கோயில் கந்தாடை சண்ட மாருதம் ஸ்ரீ சிங்கராச்சார் சுவாமி; பிறகு வர்த்தமான ஸ்வாமியாக ஸ்ரீயோக ந்ருஸிம்ஹன் சுவாமி.

20.6.2026 அன்று ஸ்ரீ கோயில் கந்தாடை சண்ட மாருதம் பெரியப்பங்கார் ஸ்வாமி திருநக்ஷத்திரம் மற்றும் ஸ்ரீ சிங்கராச்சார் ஸ்வாமியின் திருநக்ஷத்திர வைபவமும் அவரது சிஷ்யர்களான அடியோங்களால் விமர்சையாக திருவல்லிக்கேணி ஸ்ரீயதுகிரி யதிராஜ ஜீயர் மடத்தில் கொண்டாடப்பட்டது.

ஸ்ரீவைணவர்களான நம் அனைவருக்கும் எம்பெருமானார் இராமானுசர் திருவடி சம்பந்தமே மிக போக்யமானது. உடையவர் 74 சீடர்களை சிம்ஹாசனாதிபதிகளாக நியமித்தருளினார். அந்த பரம்பரையில் வந்தவர்களிடம் பஞ்ச ஸம்ஸ்காரம் செய்து கொள்வோர் உடையவர் திருவடி சம்பந்தம் பெறுவர். உடையவர் சிஷ்யர்களில் அதி முக்கியமானவர் திரு முதலியாண்டான். அவரது திருக்குமரன் கந்தாடையாண்டான் - அவர் தம் வம்ச பரம்பரையில் வந்தவர் சோளசிங்கபுரம் தொட்டையாச்சார்யார் எனும் மஹாசார்யர். நமது வர்த்தமான ஆசார்யர் - ஸ்ரீமான் உபய வேதாந்த கோயில் கந்தாடை சண்டமாருதம் கந்தாடையாண்டான் (எ) யோகந்ருசிம்மன் ஸ்வாமி (Thiru KKC Yogesh Swami)

சில நூறாண்டுகள் முன்பு நம் சுவாமி திருவம்சத்தில் ஸ்வாமி தொட்டாச்சார்யார் என்பவர் அக்காரக்கனியாக (இனிப்புச் சுவையுடைய பழம் போன்ற) போற்றப்படும் ஸ்ரீ யோக நரசிம்மருக்குப் பூஜைகள் செய்துவந்தார். பெருமாளிடம் பக்தி கொண்ட அவர் ஆண்டுதோறும் காஞ்சிபுரம் வரதராஜப் பெருமாள் கோவிலில் பிரம்மோற்சவத்திற்குச் சென்று பெருமாளைத் தரிசிப்பது வழக்கம். ஒரு முறை அவரால் பிரம்மோற்சவத்திற்குச் செல்ல இயலவில்லை. மூன்றாம் நாள் கருட சேவை உற்சவத்தன்று ஸ்வாமி தொட்டாச்சார்யார் சோளசிம்மபுரம் என்ற தற்போதைய சோளிங்கரில் இருந்தவாறே 'ஸ்ரீ தேவராஜ பஞ்சகம்' எனும் ஐந்து ஸ்லோகங்களைப் பாடினார். இதே நேரத்தில் காஞ்சியில் வரதராஜப் பெருமாள் கருட வாகன ரூபமாகத் திருவீதி உலா செல்வதற்காகக் கோயில் வாயிலுக்கு வந்தார். சோளிங்கரில் இந்த ஐந்து சுலோகங்களைப் பாடி முடிக்கவும், காஞ்சியில் கோயில் வாயிற் கதவு மூடிக்கொள்ளவும் சரியாக இருந்தது.

மூடிய கதவுகளுக்குப் பின்னால் கருட சேவையில் இருந்த பெருமாள் அப்படியே சோளசிம்மபுரத்துக்கு எழுந்தருளி தொட்டாச்சார்யாருக்குக் காட்சி கொடுத்தார். இன்றும் இது ஸ்வாமி தொட்டாச்சார்யார் சேவை என்று காஞ்சியில் வழங்கப்படுகிறது. சோளிங்கபுரத்தில் காட்சி அளித்த பெருமாள், தக்கான் குளக்கரையில் கருட சேவையிலேயே கோவில் கொண்டுள்ளார். அத்தகைய சிறப்பு வாய்ந்த திருவம்சத்திலே அவதரித்தவர் நம் ஆசார்யர். இன்று அவர் எழுந்து அருளி இருந்து நமக்கு அருளியது நம் பெரும் பாக்கியம்.

Understand that there were 5 Thirumaligais of the lineage of Doddacharyar earlier. Presently there are only two - the family of Swami Periyappangar Swami - of whose lineage is our varthamana Acharyar - Sri Ubhaya Vedantha Kovil Kanthadai Chandamarutham Singarachar Swamy; the other is that of Swami Vedanthachaar.

Saturday 20.6.2026, was a great day for the sishyas as the Thirunakshathiram of Sri U.Ve. KKCP Periyappangar Swami & thirunakshathiram of Sri Singarachar swami were celebrated at Yadugiri Yathiraja Mutt, Triplicane. Our varthamana Swami Sri KKCP Yoga Narasimhan swami descended at Thiruvallikkeni and hundreds of sishyas and members of ‘Sri Koil Kanthaadai Chandamarutham Periyappangar Swami Sishya Sabha’ gathered to get the blessings of Acharyar.

Tracing back our lineage, Swami Sri Doddachar was born in 1543 in the famous lineage of Swami Mudaliandan. In this Kaliyuga, we know that Thirukachi Arulalar directly conversed with Acharyan Thirukachi Nambigal … and centuries later, Sri Devathirajar had direct interaction with our Doddacharyar Swami too. The most famous amongst the brahmothsavam is the Garuda Sevai – at Thirukachi, Lord Devapperumal is taken in procession on vahanam of Garuda also known as Periya Thiruvadi. Garuda Seva has special significance not only for Kanchi, more so for Sholinghur because of Swami Doddachaaryar connection. Swami Doddayachar was an ardent devotee of Lord Varadharaja and did many kainkaryams to Him. He was a regular in the annual Vaikasi Garuda Sevai of Devathirajar. Legend has it that on a particular year, he was not well and could not attend the Garudothsavam at Kachi. He was feeling desperate about his misfortune of not being able to have darshan of PerArulalar at Kachi on Garuda vahanam. He lamented standing near the Thakkan kulam at Cholasimhapuram (Sholinghur]. He composed hymns on Lord Varadharaja, known as Sri Devaraja Panchakam. He longed for the Lord's sevai and these outpourings were a direct result.

In the Devaraja Panchakam, Acharyan [Doddachaaryar] sings that .’Lord Varadarajan is radiant on the back of Garudan --the son of Vinathai—and is flanked on both sides by the twin sets of white umbrellas and Kavari deer tail chamarams (fans). His sacred, lotus-soft right hand is held in abhaya mudhra pose assuring all that He will free them from all their fears. His beautiful lotus-like eyes rain anugraham on all the beholders. Adiyen salutes always that Sarva Mangala Moorthy emerging out of His aasthaanam through the western gopuram on the third day of His Vaikasi Brahmothsavam.

Emperuman will never let his ardent bhaktha down. He came down to Sholinghur and gave darshan to Doddacharyar - seated on Garuda vahanam. Such is the mercy and leela vinotham of PerArulalar. Continuing as it does, on every Vaikasi Garudothsavam day, there is a tradition known as Doddachaaryar Sevai, when the archakas hide Lord Varadar at the western gate for a short time with divine white umbrellas (ven thirukudai) just before He leaves the temple. It is believed that Lord goes to Sholinghur for giving darshan to Doddacharyar. The mangala harathi takes place thereafter.

We are proud to follow the lineage of Doddacharyar and follow the footsteps of our Acharyan - Sri U Ve Koil Kanthadai Chandamarutham Yoga Narasimha Swami. Here is the thanian of our Varthamana Swami….

On that important day at Thiruvallikkeni, there was Thirupallandu, Thiruppalliyezuchi Thiruppavai, Thirumozhi pasuram of Singavelkunram, & Thirukadigai; Kovil Thiruvaimozhi, Sri Ramanuja Noorranthathi and Upadesa Rathinamalai sevakalam. Samasrayanam was performed for some sishyas. We were too fortunate to have Perumal theertham and Sripada theertham of our Acharyan and darshan of ‘Thiruvaradhana Perumal – Kannan’ of our Swami. Sri KKCP Bharath @ Srinivasan swami was also present at Tiruvallikkeni.
