Holy Alakanandā flowing past
Pandukeshwar/Yogadhyan Badri, the verse explicitly
names Alakanandā
and associates her sanctity with Bhagavān’s feet.
नन्दा चालकनन्दा च सरितौ बाह्यतः पुरः ।
तीर्थपादपदाम्भोजरजसातीव पावने ॥
Nandā cālakanandā ca saritau bāhyataḥ puraḥ ।
Tīrthapāda-padāmbhoja-rajasātīva
pāvane ॥
Śrīmad Bhāgavatam, 4.6.24.
“The two
rivers Nandā and Alakanandā flow there; they are exceedingly sacred, sanctified
by the dust of the lotus feet of the Lord.”
Pictured here in the morning of 17.9.2026 on way to holy Badrinath dham - Alaknanda River at Pandukeshwar, very close to Yogadhyan Badri (Yoga Badri). The broad bed filled with enormous pale-grey boulders and the fast, milky blue-green Himalayan water are quite characteristic of this stretch.
