Aippaisi Pournami Sri Ranganathar 2021 - Hunter’s Moon

Today is Pournami / Full Moon day in the month of Aippaisi .. ..  .. if there is no cloud cover, most likely that we can have nice view of the beautiful Chandamama !  .. .. and can you spot Copernicus Crater on tonight’s full moon !  .. .. One of the near side’s most prominent features, it is twice as deep and over 3 times as wide as the Grand canyon .. ..  it is all about Moon, the satellite of Earth, the only place beyond Earth where humans have set foot !

Today 20th Oct 2021 is Revathi – generally there would be siriya mada veethi purappadu of Sri Ranganathar. .. .. today being Pournami (full moon day) – there would have been purappadu of Sri Parthasarathi .. .. but no purappadu as there have been none after Mangalagiri purappadu on day 1 of the Thiruvavathara uthsavam of Swami Emperumanar Ramanujar on 9.4.2021.  [almost 225 days without thiruveethi purappadu at Thiruvallikkeni !] – and pray Emperuman for purappadu sooner – for our Acaryan Swami Manavala Mamunigal uthsavam, especially, the grand Deepavali purappadu and sarrumurai vaibhavam that falls on 8th Nov. 2021.

The brightest and largest object in our night sky, the Moon makes Earth a more livable planet by moderating our home planet's wobble on its axis, leading to a relatively stable climate. It also causes tides, creating a rhythm that has guided humans for thousands of years. The Moon was likely formed after a Mars-sized body collided with Earth.

Copernicus is a lunar impact crater located in eastern Oceanus Procellarum. It was named after the astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus. It typifies craters that formed during the Copernican period in that it has a prominent ray system. It may have been created by debris from the breakup of the parent body of asteroid 495 Eulalia 800 million years ago. Copernicus is visible using binoculars, and is located slightly northwest of the center of the Moon's Earth-facing hemisphere. Due to its relative youth, the crater has remained in a relatively pristine shape since it formed.

Moving away to some Western analogy : October’s full moon and the first full moon of the 2021 autumn season arrives on Wednesday morning, Oct. 20, at precisely 10:57 a.m. EDT. Even if you’re not able to spot the full moon at the exact moment because it falls near the middle of the day, the moon will still appear full the nights of Oct. 19, Oct. 20 and Oct. 21. The October full moon is usually known as the Hunter’s Moon, and it always follows the Harvest Moon, which is the full moon closest to the autumnal equinox.   Hunter’s Moon is  also  called the Blood Moon, Sanguine Moon and Travel Moon.  The names Blood Moon and Sanguine Moon for the October full moon likely refer to the changing colors of the leaves in the fall season, while the Travel Moon name possibly derives from the migration of birds and other animals preparing for winter.

There are two more moon cycles left in 2021, which means we’ll get two more new moons — when the moon is just a dark object in the sky — and two more full moons. Fortunately for all sky-watchers, the last two moon cycles of the year are expected to be eventful. The next two new moons, on Nov. 4 and Dec. 4, will be back-to-back super new moons, which means the moon will be at the closest point in its orbit around the Earth on those days.

The COVID-19 pandemic has ruined many travel plans over the last 12 months, so if you’re looking for an incredible trip to make up for everything you’ve missed, how about a trip to the moon?  It’s no joke — and it’s free. Japanese billionaire Yusaku Maezawa is looking for eight people to accompany him on his trip, which will be the first time civilians go to the moon. It’s not happening until 2023, but that gives you plenty of time to get your head around the idea of flying to the moon aboard Elon Musk‘s SpaceX flight.

Maezawa, the founder and CEO of fashion retailer Zozo, opened applications for the opportunity on his dearMoon website this week. In an announcement video, he encouraged people “from all kinds of backgrounds” to apply. “Get your FREE TICKET to the MOON!! 8 crew members wanted. Sign up today!” he wrote on Twitter. The fashion tycoon, 45, was the first private passenger to book a spot on Musk’s expedition — for an undisclosed price. Up to 12 people in total are expected to join the mission. “I will pay for the entire journey. I have bought all the seats, so it will be a private ride,” Maezawa said. “I hope that together, we can make it a fun trip.”

He revealed that he originally planned to invite “artists” to join him, but changed his mind when he “began to think that every single person who is doing something creative could be called an artist.” He’s well known for outlandish publicity stunts. In February 2020, he called off his high-profile campaign to recruit a soulmate for the moon journey after getting applications from more than 27,000 potential romantic partners, reported CBS News. The week-long mission will take place on the rocket “Starship,” which is currently in development. In February, an unpiloted test flight ended with a spectacular explosion when the rocket was unable to right itself and decelerate enough to land. But Maezawa still has faith in Musk and SpaceX.

We may never reach the moon – for us life’s objective is different – it is all about kainkaryam to Emperuman and His devotees.

Reminiscing good olden days here are photos of  Sri Mannathar (Sri Ranganathar)  siriya mada veethi purappadu on 21.10.2015.

ஊரிலேன் காணியில்லை உறவு மற்றொருவரில்லை

Thondaradipodi Azhwar in his emotive address to Lord Ranganatha laments his misfortune of not having born in divyadesams; has no relatives, nothing to claim for and have acquaintance with the place of the Lord.  Oh Lord of dark radiance, I have not even secured your feet – I scream and call your names and there can be none other that the Great Lord of Thiruvarangam ~ Lord Ranganatha who owns the Universe and resides at Srirangam (described as ‘Arangamaanagar’) who can protect me…
