ஏதம் என்ற வார்த்தையின் பொருள் தெரியுமா ?  -  துன்பம், குற்றம், கேடு,  தீமை என பொருள்படும்.  துன்பம் அல்லது தீமையை எதிர்கொள்ளும்போது என்ன செய்ய வேண்டும் ?

The first case of the COVID-19 pandemic in  Tamil Nadu was reported on 7 Mar 2020. Life has changed a lot for everyone.  Today  Tamil Nadu has reported 710 new COVID-19 cases and five deaths in 24 hours. The total number of positive cases in the State now stands at 15,512, of which 7,915 are active cases. Death toll now stands at 103.  Covid has affected every aspect of human life and its future too.  With massive disruptions to global immunisation programmes, health experts now fear that much of the developing world will not be able to get a vaccine for the virus even once it is ready. According to the UN agencies children in many countries are now at increased risk as  routine immunisation efforts have been thrown into disarray by travel restrictions, delivery delays and parents’ fear of leaving home.

The impact of the coronavirus pandemic and the lockdown it triggered is clearly visible in financial markets. But there is still no clarity on the deeper impact that it is having across businesses and industrial sectors, and surprisingly the Medical sector too has been affected in a big manner.  All over the globe, Clinics and hospitals have stopped all nonemergency medical care in late March, and are now counting their losses.  In USA, it is reported that a famous clinic  accustomed to treating American presidents and foreign dignitaries, saw revenue plummet as it postponed lucrative surgeries to make way for coronavirus victims. The hospital network produced $1 billion in net operating revenue last year, but now expects to lose $900 million in 2020 even after furloughing workers, cutting doctors’ pay and halting new construction projects. The future offers little relief, at least until the pandemic subsides and the economy recovers.  The hospital managers are averse to the fact that their famous clinic now  will have to rely more heavily on low-income patients.

It is 60 days since the lockdown efforts were initiated and in another week’s time – another major decision will have to taken by the Government.  The present position is a reflector of significant failure of the ‘educated masses’ living in cities – for collectively we have failed to honour the lockdown in its true sense – it is a clear reflection of the city population out there on the roads for all and sundry things and the figures going up day by day. Now there will be talks of economy and its revival and the need for opening up. Where is the solution ?

15^th Jan 2020  marked the culmination of Irapathu Uthsavam. The latter part of Adhyayana Uthsavam – ‘Irapathu’  sarrumurai was performed on that day.   This grand fete is performed for Swami Nammalwar and the 10^th day is very significant for the “Thiruvadi Thozhuthal”.  It was a special day and was a bonanza : Irapathu Sarrumurai,  Sankranthi, Oorkola uthsavam & Thiruvadi thozhal.

On all the days of Irapathu there was purappadu in the evening – and it is Swami Manavala Mamunigal’s ‘Upadesa Rathinamalai’ in the  goshti… On Sarrumurai day, Swami Nammazhwar could be worshipped in his Thirumeni without kavacham. Today being the next day after Bhogi Thirukalyanam of divyathampathigal, at Thiruvallikkeni divyadesam  Godadevi Sri Andal too accompanied Sri Parthasarathi.  After thiruveedhi purappadu,  inside the Temple in the famed ‘Thiruvadi Thozhal; Swami Nammazhwar’s entry  of Mokshapuri after a great life on this earth   – as he himself sung ‘வைகுந்தம் புகுவது மண்ணவர்   விதியே’ [vaikuntham puguvathu mannavar vithiye’] is enacted.

Swami Nammalwar’s Thiruvaimozhi is of vedic excellence, elucidating the desire of Jiva in attaining the Supreme Lord.  Alwar has given us thousands of sweetest hymns in Tamil with which we can forever engage in praising the glory of Lord – and in case, you nurse any doubt of the sins, troubles, of death, illness and more – the solution is too simple !  :    all our ills, obstacles, fears, sins will simply vanish upon uttering the names of Sriman Narayana – Achutha, Anantha, Govinda, Madhava,  Kesava and more. 

ஸ்வாமி நம்மாழ்வார் அருளிச்செய்த 'திருவாய்மொழியை' கேட்பதற்காகவே ஏற்படுத்தப்பட்ட உத்சவம் அத்யாயன உத்சவம்.  எம்பெருமானின் பரிபூர்ண அருளை பெற்ற நம்மாழ்வார் 'திருவடி தொழுதல்' என  திருநாட்டுக்கு சென்று அலங்கரித்து, மண்ணவர் விண்ணப்பிக்க நமக்கு திருப்பி தந்து அருளப்பட்டவர்.   அவர் நமக்கு வழங்கும் எளிய அறிவுரை இதோ :

 துன்பம் அல்லது தீமையை எதிர்கொள்ளும்போது என்ன செய்ய வேண்டும் ?  எவ்வெப்பொழுதும்  எம்பெருமானின் பேர்களை ஓத ஒரு குறையும் அண்டாது.  எப்போதும் அவனது திருநாமங்களான -  கேசவ, மாதவா, நாராயண, கோவிந்தா, மதுசூதா, தாமோதரா, பத்மநாபா என அழையுங்கள்.  'மாதவன்’ என்று எம்பெருமான் பெயரை ஓதினால், தீமைகள் நெருங்காது, பாவங்கள் சேராது. கொடிய இடரென்று பேர் பெற்றவையெயல்லாம், கேசவா வென்று மூன்றெழுத்தைச் சொன்னவளவிலே கெடும்    ஸ்வாமி நம்மாழ்வாரின் வாக்கு : 

மாதவன் என்றென்று ஓத வல்லீரேல்

தீதொன்று மடையா ஏதம் சாராவே.

மாதவனை  அனுசந்தித்து த்வய  மந்த்ரரத்னத்தை ஓத வல்லீர்களாகில் ஒரு  தீதும் அடையாது.  எந்த பாபங்களும் நம்மை அண்டாது.  மயூரபுரி எனும் திருமயிலையில் திருமகளும், மண்மகளும் உடன் அமர ஆனந்த நிலைய விமானத்தில் அமர்ந்த கோலத்தில் கல்யாண மாதவனாக சேவை சாதிக்கின்றார் பெருமாள்.  தாயார் அமிர்தவல்லி.  பெருமாள் ஸ்ரீராமராகவும், பூவராஹராகவும் கூட சேவை சாதிக்கின்றார்.  இத்தலத்தில் , ஆண்டாள் நாச்சியாருக்கும் தனி சன்னதி உள்ளது. உத்சவர் ஸ்ரீமாதவன் மிக அழகான திவ்ய மங்கள ஸ்வரூபன்.  பெருமாள் எப்போதும் பட்டாச்சார்களின்  அழகான சாற்றுப்படி தனில் மிளிர்கிறார்.
