Hanumantha vahanam - Sri Parthasarathi Brahmothsavam day 5 - 2014

Today 19th April 2014 is the 5th day of Chithirai Brahmothsavam at Thiruvallikkeni.  In the morning it was ‘Nachiyar Thirukolam’ and in the evening it was ‘Thiruvadi – Hanumantha vahanam’….. remember Lord Rama fought the battle sitting astride Hanumar.

The son of Vayu – Hanumar is the epitome of great virtues ~  a great character – a warrior, mightily powerful, whose body was as hard as a diamond, whose speed equalled those of fastest flying eagles, who possessed great wisdom, who could organize a group of roaming ones, who can jump hundreds of miles, yet who remained at the feet of his Master, totally committed thinking of their welfare alone – unassuming, yet capable of telling the right things at the right moment – that is Pavana Puthra Hanuman – Aanjaneya, who is called ‘thiruvadi’ – bearer of Lord Rama – who carried Rama on his shoulders during the war in which the demon was killed. The very thought of Sri Hanuman brings to mind ~ his unparalleled devotion for Lord Ram and unrivalled physical strength. Perhaps this is one reason why Hanuman is quite often associated with celibates, wrestlers and bodybuilders.

When Sukriva offered to help Lord Rama in search of Sita devi, there were thousands of Vanarars in his Sena ~ there were old, wise, powerful, youthful, and all others – yet it was Hanuman who was preferred to go to Lanka; the wise Zambavan praised his qualities and encouraged him to jump across the Ocean ~ He accomplished the task manfully and tested the strength of the forces of Lanka too… such was his wisdom and power of accomplishment.  Even Sitadevi nursed a doubt when she stated that only three had the power of crossing the mighty Ocean ~ the son of Vainetheyan [Periya Thiruvadi Garudar known for his power of flying]; Lord Vayu and the most wise Hanuman – she wondered how the vast multitude in the Sena of Sukriva could cross the Ocean ?

Aanjaneyar with all his might  still always exhibited the rare qualities of kindness, humility, and deep attachment to Lord Rama.  The selfless spirit  of Hanuman  was rewarded by Lord Ram by stating that ‘whenever I am remembered, people will remember you too.’

Sri Partha Sarathi Swami in His resplendent splendour enraptured His devotees with darshan on  ‘HanumanthaVahanam’  which was a great sight to behold……..
