 பூக்கள் அழகானவை; நறுமணம் தர வல்லன.  பூக்களை அழகாக  தொடுத்து இறைவனுக்கு சாற்றி வழிபடுவது நெடுங்காலமாக உள்ளது.  இந்த பூக்களின் புகைப்படம் ஒரு திவ்யஸ்தலத்திலே - அதிமுக்கிய இடத்திலே எடுக்கப்பட்டது.  அறிவீரா !  

உலகுக்கெல்லாம் திலகம் போன்றதான திருமலைய - திருவேங்கடமுடையானன்றோ ப்ராப்யம், திருமலையே ப்ராப்யம்  செடிபோலே செழித்த பாபங்களைத் தீர்க்கும் மருந்தானவன்: திருவேங்கடவன்.  The sacred and most reverred temple of Sri Venkateswara is located on the seventh peak – Venkatachala hill of Tirumala.

Annamayya extolls the  Lord at  Ezhumalai  - He is Lord of the Koneru(the holy pond atop the Hill); who  permanently stays at the Hills only to grant boons; his benevolence even bigger than the mountain  - in the holy Thirumala, every visitor, for sure would visit ‘Koneru’ – the sacred Temple tank – the  Swami pushkarini pond lying closer to the Temple and on the banks having the Temple of Sri Adhi Varaha swami, where chakrasnanam, theppothsavam, daily harathi and more are conducted.  Sri Kulasekara Azwar extols praying that he be born as a little bird on the bank of this holy temple tank (வேங்கடத்து கோனேரி வாழும் குருகாய் பிறப்பேனே !)  .. .. and having visited Thirumala no. of times, having dip in holy Koneri too – do you know – the other pushkarini – almost thousand years old – “Swami Ramanuja pushkarini’. 

Swami  Ramanujar has  pride of place in the list of our Acharyars; he is hailed as Udayavar, Emperumanar, Bashyakarar, Ilayazhwaar, Yathirajar, Thiruppavai Jeeyar, Num Kovil annan,  amongst other names.      Of those who remained closest to Sri Ramanuja – Sri  Mudaliandan, Sri Koorathazhwan, Sri Embar,  Sri Ananthazhwan, Arulalaperumal Emperumanar, Kidambi Achaan, Thirukurugai Piraan Pillan, Thiruvarangathu Amuthanar and more.

Thirumalai Ananthalwan, a great Acharyar did yeoman service for Thiruvengadamudayan, about 1000 years ago, when it was very difficult to reach the Hills.  Ordained by Sri Ramanujacharya, Ananthazhwan did floral service at the holy Thirumalai, at a time when walking on the dense hills was fearsome and staying there was extremely difficult.   The garden created by Ananthazhwaan is now known as ‘Puraisaivari Thottam’.  It lies on the back side of the temple near Thirumala Chinna Jeeyar Mutt and one can reach this place through the Thirumala Library/ Museum  also.    Now there is a beautiful brundavanam at this place maintained by the descendents of Thirumalai Ananthazhwaan.  The lake created by him now stands majestically as ‘Ramanuja lake” replete with water on the hill !!   Twice in a year,  Sri Malayappar visits this place and honours Ananthazhwaan now in the form of Magizha maram.  ‘Sri Venkatesa Ithihasa maala’ is considered the best amongst the many works of Thirumalai Ananthazhwaan.

இப்போது பற்பல வாகனங்கள் மூலம் அல்லது நடந்து திருமலையை அடையலாம்.  நூற்றாண்டுகள் முன்பு - திருமலை அடைவது மிக கடினம்.  அடர்ந்த காடுகள் - யானை, சிங்கம், புலி போன்ற கொடிய காட்டு மிருகங்கள் - செல்லும் பாதையோ மிக கடினம் . .. .. அத்தகைய காலகட்டத்தில், எம்பெருமானாரின் ஆணைப்படி, திருமலை ஏகி, நந்தவனம் அமைத்து - திருவேங்கடமுடையான் திருப்பதி வெங்கடாசலபதி பெருமாளுக்கு அற்புத கைங்கர்யம் செய்தவர் - அனந்தாழ்வான் .. .. உடையவரால் - நீரே ஆண் பிள்ளை என புகழப்பெற்று - 'திருமலை அனந்தான் பிள்ளை' என நம்மால் போற்றப்பெறுபவர்.

சுவாமி இராமானுசர் மீது அளவுகடந்த பக்தி கொண்ட இவர், கர்னாடகத்தின் மாண்டியா  மாவட்டத்தில் சிறுப்புத்தூர் (இன்றைய ஹலே கிரங்கனூர் -மேல்கோட்டை/ ஸ்ரீரங்கபட்டணம்  அருகில்)  அழகிய சிற்றூரில் சித்திரை மாதம் சித்திரை நட்சத்திரத்தில் அனந்தன்  என்னும் இயற்பெயரில் பிறந்தவர். இராமனுசர் ஆணைப்படியே திருமலையில் எழுந்தருளியுள்ள திருவேங்கடமுடையானுக்கு நந்தவனம் அமைத்து மலர் கைங்கர்யம் செய்வதையே வாழ்க்கையின் பலனாக கொண்டு திருமலையிலேயே வாழ்ந்தவர். இதற்காக தன் மனையாளின் உதவியோடு இவர் ஏற்படுத்திய திருக்குளம் "இராமானுச தீர்த்தம்" என்றும், அவரின் நந்தவனம் "அனந்தாழ்வார் நந்தவனம்" (புரிசைவாரி தோட்டம்) என திருமலையில் - திருக்கோவில் பின்புறம், திருமலை சிறிய கேள்வியப்பன் ஜீயர் சுவாமி மடம் அருகே உள்ளது. 

இராமானுஜர் திருமலை திருப்பதிக்கு மலையேறிச் செல்லும் பொழுது நடந்த ஒரு சம்பவம். மலையேறிச் செல்லும் பொழுது வெயிலின் தாக்கம் அதிகமாக இருந்ததால், அவரும் அவரது சிஷ்யர்களும் மிகவும் சோர்ந்து போனார்கள். வழி வேறு சரியாகத் தெரியவில்லை. மழை நெருங்கிக் கொண்டிருக்கிறது. ஒரே காடு. அப்பொழுது ஒரு சிறுபிள்ளை ஒருவன் வந்தான். இராமானுஜர் களைப்பினால் அமர்ந்திருந்தார். வந்திருந்த சிறுபிள்ளையோ மிகவும் தேஜஸ் உடையவனாக இருந்தான். சுவாமியின் அருகில் வந்து வெள்ளி கிண்ணத்திலே நன்றாகக் குலைத்து செய்திருந்த தயிர் அன்னத்தையும், ஒரு மாம்பழத்தையும் எடுத்து வந்திருந்தான். சுவாமியிடம் சென்று "இந்தாரும், இதை நீர் சாப்பிடலாம்" என்று கொடுத்தான் சிறுபிள்ளை. அப்பிள்ளை வேறு யாரும் இல்லை. உலகத்திற்கே ஒரே நாயகனாய், தனிப்பெருந் தெய்வமாய், ஆழ்வார்களாலே கொண்டாடப்பட்ட திருவுடைய தேவனான திருவேங்கடமுடையான்.  உடையவர் பிரசாதத்தை. உடனே சுவீகரிக்கவில்லை - "நீ யார் என்று சொல்லு சிறுபிள்ளையே.  "உனக்கு ஆச்சாரியன் யார் ?" என வினவ  சிறுபிள்ளையும் சளைக்காமல் நமக்கு அளித்த தனியன்:

அகிலாத்ம குணாவாஸம் அஜ்ஞான திமிராபஹம் |

ஆச்ரிதாநாம் ஸுசரணம் வந்தே அநந்தார்ய தேசிகம் ||

அனைத்துக் கல்யாண குணங்களின் இருப்பிடம், அஞ்ஞான இருளை ஒழிப்பவர், தம்மைச் சரண் புக்கோர்க்கு ஒப்பிலா அரண் ஆகிய அநந்தாழ்வானை வணங்குகிறேன். 

Sri Ananthazhwaan was born in year 1053 near Mysore in a village called ‘siruputhoor’ ~ now called Hale Kiranguru.  When Udayavar was rendering kalakshepam on Thiruvaimozhi, (the verse – sindhu poo magizhum Thiruvengadathu – meaning the place replete with flowers), Udayavar asked whether anybody would do the pushpa kainkaryam at Thirumala.  Remember, Tirupathi was a very dense jungle ridden with wild animals with adverse weather.  Ananthazhwaan readily came forward and said that he would go, if Udayavar so desires.  Udayavar was so elated that he praised Ananthazhwaan as the real man and till date, his descendents have the name ‘Thirumalai Ananthanpillai’ meaning manly.   

Legend has it that Ananthazhwaan was organizing ‘a flower garden’ (nanthavanam)  – he was constructing a lake for supply of water on the hills – an extremely arduous work. Acarya’s pregnant wife too was helping him in that difficult task.   Lord Srinivasa  in one of His Thiruvilayadals, came to the place and tried helping him.  Wrongly assuming the person as hindering the work, Ananthazhwaan threw the crowbar at the Lord (without knowing Him); later realised his folly and got the Divine Blessings of Lord.  This crowbar is now exhibitioned  at the entrance of the Temple of Supreme Lord Thiruvengadam Udaiyaan.  Thirumalai Ananthazhwaan continued his floral and other services to Lord Srinivasar for many years. He was so devoted in his service ordained by Ramanujacharya that for him, it was service that was of primary importance, even when compared to God.   In the holy shrine of Thirumala, there is the beautiful sannathi of Sri Ramanujacharya.   The beautiful  Vigraham of Sri Ramanujar that we worship inside the Sri Vari Temple was   installed by Ananthalwar.   

The garden created by Ananthazhwaan is now known as ‘Puraisaivari Thottam’.  சித்திரையில் சித்திரை - ஸ்ரீ அநந்தாழ்வான்    திருநக்ஷத்திரம் -   சுவாமி அனந்தாழ்வான் அருளிச்செய்த தனியன் - திருவாய்மொழியுடன் அனுசந்திப்பது.

வாய்ந்த  மலர்ப்பாதம் வணங்குகின்றேன், - ஆய்ந்த

பெருஞ் சீரார் சடகோபன் செந்தமிழ் வேதந்தரிக்கும்,

 பேராத வுள்ளம் பெற!.

ஞானம், பக்தி, வைராக்கியம், குருபக்தி எனும் நற்குணங்கள் அனைத்தும் திளைத்து விளங்கப்பெற்ற அனந்தாழ்வான் எனும் மகாசார்யரை வணங்குவோமாக !! 

On Sunday, 23^rd Feb 2025, 971^st  Birth  celebrations of Acaryar Ananthazhwan was celebrated here at Holy Thirumala,  very well organized.  His Holiness Thirumalai Periya Kelviappan Sri Satakopa Ramanuja Periya Jeeyar Swami  &   His Holiness Thirumalai Ilaiya Kelviappan Sri Govinda Ramanuja Chinna Jeeyar  Swami,   presided over the divyaprabandha goshti.  There were hundreds of Kalakshepa Athigarigal,  Adhyapakars from various divyadesams, Ubaya Vedantha periyavargal and many youngsters who participated in the ‘Thiruvaimozhi Goshti’.  There were kalakshepams by renowned scholars too.  

பற்பல சிறப்புகள் வாய்ந்த திருமலை அனந்தாழ்வானின் 971வது திரு அவதார மகோத்சவம் 23.2.2025   அன்று சிறப்பாக கொண்டாடப்பட்டது.  சில  வருடங்கள் முன்பு [2004ல்] திருமலை அனந்தான்பிள்ளை வம்சத்தினர், திருமலை திருப்பதி தேவஸ்தானம் ஆதரவுடன் அவரது திருவவதார  உத்சவம் நடத்தினர். அது முதல் ஒவ்வொரு வருடமும் இந்த உத்சவம் பொலிவுடன் நடைபெற்று வருகிறது. அப்போது இந்த இடம் சாதரணமாக காணப்பட்டது. இப்போது இவ்விடம் மிக நன்றாக பராமரிக்கப்பட்டு வருகிறது.   இவ்வருடம் நடைபெற்ற நிகழ்ச்சியில் - திருமலை பெரிய கேள்வி அப்பன் ஜீயர் சுவாமிகள், திருமலை இளைய கேள்வியப்பன் ஜீயர் சுவாமிகள், ஏராளமான உபய வேதாந்த விற்பன்னர்கள்; காலக்ஷேப அதிகாரிகள்; பல்வேறு திவ்யதேச அத்யாபகர்கள்  என பலர் எழுந்து அருளி இருந்து –  திவ்யப்ரபந்தத்தில் திருமலை திருப்பதி பாசுரங்கள், திருவாய்மொழி கோஷ்டி,  கண்ணிநுண் சிறுத்தாம்பு; இராமானுச நூற்றந்தாதி, உபதேச ரத்தினமாலை,  நிறைய காலக்ஷேபங்கள் என இவ்விழா பரிமளித்தது.   

ஞானம், பக்தி, வைராக்கியம், குருபக்தி எனும் நற்குணங்கள் அனைத்தும் திளைத்து விளங்கப்பெற்ற அனந்தாழ்வான் எனும் மகாசார்யரை வணங்குவோமாக !!
