Sri Udayavar Sarrumurai - Sri Parthasarathi Pushpa Pallakku 2014

பூக்கள் அழகானவை; Clitoria Ternatea- -  கேள்விப்பட்டு இருக்கிறீர்களா  ?

This year Udayavar sarrumurai  fell on Sunday 4^th May 2014.  [Chithirai 21 – Chithiraiyil seyya Thiruvathirai] ~ and it was double delight in the evening !!

It was a great day in our lives celebrating the birth of our darsana Sthapakar, Sri Ramanujar   reverred as ‘Yathigad Iraivan’  .... in the evening there was purappadu of Sri Ramanujar with Sri Parthasarathi.  After 10 days of  Brahmothsavam, it is rest called ‘Vidayarri’ for Sri Parthasarathi and after 10 days of rest comes the florally bedecked ‘Pushpa Pallakku – the palanquin with flowers’ which coincided with Udayavar sarrumurai. 

Favourite memories are triggered by our sense of smell ~ flowers are admired for their beauty,  exquisite shapes, spectrum of colours and more so for their fragrance. In our tradition, the decorative wreath of flowers woven together as garlands adorn God.  Flowers have their pride of place and are mentioned in our epics – in Divyaprabandham too.  In our mythology, Parijatha flower was brought to earth by Lord Krishna himself.  Legend has it that Sriman Narayana’s heavenly throne is under a flowering Parijatha tree.   The pallakku was fragrant pervading goodness all around – a great treat to the eyes, ears and senses  of Bakthas. At Triplicane [Thiruvalikkeni divyadesam] Sri Parthasarathi   had purappadu in Pushpa pallakku and Sri Emperumanaar in mangalagiri.   

சித்திரையில் செய்ய திருவாதிரை -நமக்கு இரட்டிப்பு மகிழ்ச்சியை தந்தது.  இன்று சுவாமி எம்பெருமானார் அவதரித்த திருநாள்.  இன்று பெருமாளுக்கு புஷ்ப பல்லக்கும் கூட.  பூக்கள் அழகானவை; நறுமணம் தர வல்லன:: மல்லிகை, முல்லை, செண்பகம், தாமரை,மகிழம், ரோஜா, அல்லி  மற்றும் விருச்சி, செங்காந்தள்; ஆம்பல்; அனிச்சம்; குறிஞ்சி ;வாகை; வகுளம் ; கோங்கம்;-  என எவ்வளவோ நறுமலர்கள் உள்ளன. பூக்களை அழகாக தொடுத்து இறைவனுக்கு சாற்றி வழிபடுவது நெடுங்காலமாக உள்ளது.  ஒரு நாட்டில்அதிகமாக மலர்கள் காணப்படுவதனை வைத்தே அந்த நாட்டின் நீர்வளம், நில வளம், மக்களின் மனவளம், ஆகியவற்றை நன்கு உணரலாம். இதனைப் பழங்காலந்தொட்டுதமிழ்ப் புலவர்கள் தம் இலக்கியங்கள் வாயிலாகப் பிறர்க்கு உணர்த்தி வந்துள்ளனர். மலருக்கு பருவங்கள் (stages) உண்டு . ;   அரும்பு,   மொட்டு, முகை,  மலர் என எழுவகைப்படுமாம். 

புஷ்பங்கள் பற்றிய பல குறிப்புகள் சங்க தமிழிலும் நமதுதிவ்யப்ப்ரபந்தத்திலும் உள்ளன. கோதைப்பிராட்டியாம் ஆண்டாள் :  "தார்க்கொடி முல்லைகளும் தவளநகை காட்டுகின்ற"என அரும்புகளையுடைய கொடி முல்லைகள்,  அழகர் பெருமானின்  வெளுத்தபுன்சிரிப்பை காட்டுகின்றதாய் கூறுகின்றார்.    பிறிதொரு இடத்தில்  "கருவிளையொண்மலர்காள் காயாமலர்காள் திருமால் உருவொளி காட்டுகின்றீர்" என  அழகிய கருவிளைமலர்கள் மற்றும் காக்கணம் பூக்கள்,  எம்பெருமானுடைய திருமேனியின் நிறத்தைநினைப்பூட்டுவதாக பகர்கிறார்.காயா மலர் - காக்கணம் பூ -  சங்குப்பூ. (Clitoria Ternatea)-of family  -:  Fabaceae, [Papinonaceae].  சுவாமி நம்மாழ்வார் "மல்லிகை கமழ்தென்றலீருமாலோ வண்குறிஞ்சியிசை"  எனும்போது  - மல்லிகையின் பரிமளத்தோடு கூடின தென்றலையும்; வண் குறிஞ்சி இசை என்னும்  இடத்தில்  'செவிக்கினிய குறிஞ்சிப் பண் இசையையும்' குறிக்கிறார்- குறிஞ்சிஎன்று ஒரு நிலப்பரப்பும்;  குறிஞ்சி என்று அரிய பூவினமும் உண்டு.  பெரியாழ்வார்  -"வலங்காதின் மேல்தோன்றிப்  பூவணிந்து மல்லிகை வனமாலை மெளவல் மாலை" என – மேல்தோன்றிப்பூ,  மல்லிகை, செங்காந்தள் பூ,  காட்டுமல்லிகை மாலை இவற்றை குறிக்கிறார்.

இத்தகைய  அருமையான  நறுமண மலர்களால் ஆனது 'பூப்பல்லக்கு' எனும் புஷ்பப் பல்லக்கு. மிக அலங்காரமானது.  சுகந்த வாசனையும் கொண்டது. திருவல்லிக்கேணியில்  பிரம்மோத்சவம் கண்டு அருளிய ஸ்ரீபார்த்தசாரதி எம்பெருமான் 10 நாட்கள்  'விடாயாற்றி' என இளைப்பாறுகிறார்.   பிறகு மணம் தரும் மலர்களால்அலங்கரிக்கப்பட்டு சிறப்பாக வடிவமைக்கப்பட்ட 'புஷ்பப் பல்லக்கில்' புறப்பாடு கண்டுஅருள்கிறார்.   பெருமாளுக்கு புஷ்பங்கள் சமர்ப்பித்தலும், அதற்கான நந்தவனத்தைபராமரித்தலும், உகப்பான  கைங்கர்யங்களாக கருதப்படுகின்றன. நன்மலர்கள் எல்லாஇடங்களிலும் அழகு தரும்.  எனினும் பூக்கள் அணிவதற்கு ஏற்ற சகல சௌந்தர்ய ஸௌகுமார்யங்களையும் தகுதியையும், முதன்மையும் உடையவர் - ஸ்ரீமன் நாராயணன் மட்டுமே.  

04.05.2014  ஸ்ரீ பார்த்தசாரதி  சீர்மையுடன் அமைக்கப்பட்டு மணந்த புஷ்பப் பல்லக்கிலும் உடையவர் மங்களகிரியிலும் எழுந்து அருளினர். அவ்வமயம்  எடுக்கப்பட்ட சில படங்கள் இங்கே.

Sri Ramanujar Sarrumurai [Thiruvathirai in Chithirai] 2014

நமது பாரததேசம் புண்ணிய பூமி.  ஸ்ரீவைஷ்ணவர்களான நமக்கு வேதமும்  ஆச்சயார்களுமே பிரதானம். தீமனம் கெடுத்து, ஸ்ரீமன் நாராயணனை தொழும் மனமே தந்து, அறியாதன அறிவித்து, பரமபுருஷனைக் காட்டிக்கொடுக்கும் ஆச்சார்யர் மிக உயர்ந்தவர்.  அவர் நமக்கு உலாவும் பெருமான். ஆச்சார்ய ரத்னஹாரத்தில் நடுநாயகர் ஆன நம் சுவாமி எம்பெருமானார் சாற்றுமுறை - சித்திரையில் செய்ய திருவாதிரை - இன்று சீரிய நாள். 

Of the three great exponents of Vedanta philosophy, Bhagwad Ramanuja with his aesthetic beautiful interpretations occupies the central place.  Sri Ramanujar has the pride of place in the list of our Acharyars; he is hailed as Udayavar, Emperumanar, Bashyakarar, Ilayazhwaar, Yathirajar, Thiruppavai Jeeyar, Num Kovil annan,  amongst other names was born in the year 1017 at Sri Perumpudur on ‘Thiruvathirai’ thirunakshathiram in the month of Chithirai.  This year Udayavar sarrumurai  fell on Sunday 4^th May 2014.  [Chithirai 21 – Chithiraiyil seyya Thiruvathirai]

Our darsana Sthapakar, Sri Ramanujar  rightly reverred as ‘Yathi Rajar’ ~ the king among yathis [hermits and sages, the  greatest reformer he was, Ramanuja gave us many vedantic treatises - toured the entire Country, making the Srivaishnavatie tradition flourish in all his path.  He was a great administrator too.  He created flawless systems, corrected the administration of Sri Rangam ensuring the proper maintenance of the wealth of Lord Ranganatha and creating teams to properly continue all kainkaryams to the Lord. 

 The fountain of knowledge, he was,  handed over to the generation his wealth of knowledge through his many works which include the Magnum Opus ‘Sri Bashyam – the Vishishtavaida commentary of Brahma sutram of Vyasa Bhagavan.; Vedantha Deepam, Vedanta Saram, Vedanta Sangraham, Gadyathrayam and many many more….  

Of these the 3 Gadyams – Saranagati Gadyam, Sriranga Gadyam and Vaikunda Gadyam collectively known as ‘Gadyatraya’ are in someways considered to be swan song of our Acharyar.  The Saranagati Gadyam is live exposition of the doctrine of ‘prapatti’ – the total saranagati.  Sri Ramanujar prays that thee Lord may be pleased to bless his sincere and true saranagati at the lotus feet of Srimannathan be accepted as truly and well-performed and lead to the desired end without any interruption.  Our Acharyar describes the unique qualities of NamPerumal  with words ‘Sathyakama, Sathyasankalpa’ which would mean the most loveable quality of resolve to protect His devotees and the will to be incarnated in any form to come to the succour of devotees – He is Creator, Protector and Sustainer.

Let us fall at the lotus feet of our Acharyar which only  will relieve us of all our sins and steer us towards good thinking, good deeds and towards salvation through service to Lord and His bakthas.

இன்று 4.5.2014 -  சித்திரையில் செய்ய திருவாதிரை நந்நாள்.  நம் ஆச்சார்யன் இவ்வுலகத்தில் வந்துதித்த சீரிய நாள். செங்கயல் வாவிகள் சீர்வயல்கள் சூழ்ந்த ஸ்ரீபெரும்புதூரில் இளையாழ்வார் எனும் ராமானுஜர் அவதரித்த நந்நாள்.  எம்பெருமானாரின் பிறப்பு உலகத்தவர்கள் உடனே பெறுதற்கான  நண்ணறு ஞானத்தை அனைவருக்கும் அருளி அவர்களை ஸ்ரீமன் நாராயணன் இடத்தில் பக்தி செலுத்துமாறு மாற்றிய அவதார திருநாள்.   

உடையவர் ஒரு தலை சிறந்த நிர்வாகி. ஸ்ரீரங்கம் கோவிலின் நிர்வாகத்தை முற்றிலும் சீர்படுத்தி தென்னரங்கனின் செல்வத்தை காப்பாற்றினவர் * பாரத தேசம் முழுதும் யாத்திரை சென்று "ஸ்ரீமன் நாராயணனின் பரத்வத்தை" நிலை நாட்டினவர்.  ஸ்ரீ வைஷ்ணவத்தை பாரெங்கும் பரப்பினவர்.   ஸ்ரீபாஷ்யம், வேதாந்த தீபம், வேதாந்த ஸாரம், வேதார்த்த ஸங்க்ரஹம், பகவத் கீதா பாஷ்யம், கத்யத்ரயம் ஆகிய கிரந்தங்களை உடையவர் அருளிச் செய்தார்.   ஸ்ரீ பாஷ்யம் அவரது தலை சிறந்த படைப்பு. வியாச   பகவானின் ப்ருஹ்ம  சூத்திரத்துக்கு விசிஷ்டாத்வைத பிரமாணமாய் கீதா பாஷ்யம் இயற்றினார். பிரபத்தி என்கிற சரண் புகுதலை பற்றி சரணாகதி கத்யம், ஸ்ரீ ரங்கநாதரை தன்னை தாசனாக கொள்ளும்படி ஸ்ரீரங்க கத்யம், மஹா விஷ்ணுவின் இருப்பிடத்தை விவரிக்கும் வைகுண்ட கத்யம் என்பன இவரது பிற நூல்கள். 

லோகோபகாரியாராகிய இராமானுசர் நமக்கு ஆதாரமாகவும் சக்தியளிப்பவராகவும்  ரக்ஷகருமாகவும் இருப்பார் என்பது சுவாமி கூரேசர் வாக்கு. ஸ்ரீ வைஷ்ணவர்களுக்கு அவரது பிறந்த நாள் அதி விசேஷம். இந்நாளை சித்திரையில் ஆதிரை நாள் சிறக்க வந்தோன் வாழியே ( சித்திரை மாதம் திருவாதிரை நட்சத்திரம் பெருமை கொள்ளும் படி அதில் பிறந்தவன் வாழ்க); சீர் பெரும்பூதூர் முனிவன் திருவடிகள் வாழியே (எல்லா சிறப்பும் கொண்ட திருப்பெரும்பூதூரில் பிறந்த இராமானுச முனிவனின் திருவடிகள் வாழ்க வாழ்க.) என வைஷ்ணவர்கள் மகிழ்வர். இன்றும் எல்லா வைஷ்ணவ தலங்களிலும் சேவாகாலம் முடியும் போது "ராமானுஜார்ய திவ்யாக்ஞா - வர்ததாம் அபிவர்ததாம்" என அவரது கட்டளைகள் சிறப்புற நடைமுறையில் உள்ளதை பாராட்டுவர். 

இன்று  காலை - உடையவர் சாற்றுமுறை சிறப்பாக நடை பெற்றது. காலை புறப்பாட்டில்  உடையவர் அழகிய பல்லக்கில் எழுந்து அருளினார்.   காலை புறப்பாட்டில் ஸ்தோத்ர பாடல் கோஷ்டி ஆனது. எம்பெருமானார் பிறந்த நாளை அத்யாபக சுவாமிகள் மேல் உத்தரீவத்தை விண்ணை நோக்கி விசிறி ஆர்ப்பரித்து கொண்டாடினர்.  

இவ்வுலகில் இனி ஒன்றும் எண்ணாதே  நெஞ்சே ! இரவு பகல் எதிராசர் எமக்கினிமேலருளும் .... என நம்  ஆச்சார்யர்க்கு ஆளாவோம் நாம்.. பெரிய கடலை போன்ற கருணை கொண்ட இராமானுஜர் திருவடிகளை தாள் பணிவோர்க்கு எல்லா நலமும் பெருகும். அவரைப்பற்றி சிந்திப்போர்க்கு எண்ணங்கள் தேனூறி என்றென்றும் தித்திக்கும் !  

On the hot Chithirai, as we bowed in obeisance to Yathiraja for his munificence,  there were showers briefly – a welcome summer rain !

Akshaya Trithiyai ~ Sri Udayavar Yaanai vahana purappadu 2014.

Today is “Akshaya Tritiya”  the day when Lord Parashuram, the sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu, is believed to have been born. It is considered one of the most auspicious days in the year and, as such, people not only buy jewellery but also perform all 'shubh karya' on the day.  One of the most important legends associated with observing Akshaya Trithiya is that of Lord Krishna and Kuchela. Another significant mythology is that of the Pandavas receiving the Akshay Patra from Krishna.

Today I have posted on how marketeers have converted this to be a day of buying gold ornaments and silver ~ making it a great day for the Sellers.  The word "Akshaya" means the never diminishing in Sanskrit and the day is believed to bring good luck and success. Traders have made it appear that it is the day when one must make purchases ~ the year that went by -  saw a lull in gold prices and some serious short-selling by gold bears, especially after the Fed started shutting the stimulus tap progressively. From Akshaya Tritiya last year, on May 13 till date, gold prices on the MCX is up 7.06 percent (mostly due to weak rupee), while the international markets have declined by around 10 percent in the same time frame as investors have been on a selling mode globally and tough restrictions on import and jewellery businesses have taken the wind out of the sails of the sector.  So with gold prices falling perhaps it is the right time to buy.  Silver also dropped for the third straight day by losing Rs 430 to Rs 41,650 per kg. Globally, gold in Singapore, which normally sets price trend on the domestic front, fell by 0.2% to $1,282.25 an ounce and silver by 0.3% to $18.97 an ounce.

This is no post on Gold or Silver – but on our Acharyar Emperumanaar. Today, (2^nd May 2014) the 8^th day of the Uthsavam, by sheer coincidence, it was ‘yaanai vahanam’ for Udayavar and the yaanai in Thiruvallikkeni is silvery.   Swami Emperumanaar had purappadu on the silver elephant and the oozing grace simply outweighed the serenity and beauty of the moon – one could see only the kindness and glory of Swami.  Here are some photos of Swami Yathirajar on Yaanai vahanam.

Thiruvallikkeni Sri Udayavar Pushpa Pallakku - 2014

Today, 1^st of May 2014 is day 7 of Swami Udayavar Uthsavam ~ in the morning it was pallakku and in the evening the fragrant ‘pushpa pallakku’ (palanquin made of flowers)

The most learned, most humble and most kind Sri Ramanujar showered us with his munificence .... here is how Thiruvarangathu Amuthanar hails the unswerving commitment of Ramanujar to the Lord Ranganathar at Thiruvarangam. In his words “*பூங்கமலத் தேனதி  பாய்வயல் தென்அரங்கன் கழல் சென்னி வைத்து தானதில் மன்னும்  இராமானுசன்*“.... Udayavar has in his heart the lotus feet of Arangar, the Lord of Srirangam, whose golden feet  is flooded and cleansed  by honey gotten from the lotus flowers......... we also need to have Sri Ramanujar in our heart and be attached to the feet of our Acharyar.
