Thirukarthigai Deepa thiruvizha at Thiruvallikkeni 2019

ஐப்பசி மாதத்திலே நம் ஆசார்யன் சுவாமி மணவாள மாமுனிகள் உத்சவம் இனிதே நடந்து முடிந்தது ~ பொய்கையார் பூதத்தார் சற்றுமுறைகளும் கூட இனிதே நடந்தேறின.   கார்த்திகை மாதம் ஒரு சிறப்பான மாதம்.  திருமங்கை மன்னன், திருப்பாணர் சற்றுமுறைகள்  கூடவே திருக்கார்த்திகை தீப உத்சவம். 

12.12.2019 was grand purappadu of Sri Parthasarathi ~ it was Thirukarthigai deepam at Srivaishnava temples.  This year it was a slightly different perspective.  Many a times, there would be no Sarrumurai purappadu for Thirupanazhwar as his Thirunakshathiram is ‘Rohini nakshathiram’ in the month of Karthigai.   Generally, Karthigai would fall on ‘karthigai nakshathiram’ – after which there would be no purappadu. This year 10.12 was Thirumangai mannan Sarrumurai [Karthigaiyil Karthigai]; 11.12 was Thiruppanar sarrumurai [Karthigaiyil Rohini] and there was to be some Pournami on 12.12 and hence Thirukarthi deepa uthsavam on that day.

திருப்பேர்நகர் எனும் அப்பக்குடத்தான்  ஒரு அற்புத திவ்யதேசம்.  சுவாமி நம்மாழ்வார் இத்தலத்தை மிக புகழ்ந்து பாடியுள்ளார்.  கலியனோ இங்கு    எழுந்தருளி உள்ள எம்பெருமானை ஒரு கேள்வி கேட்கிறார்.  அவரது எண்ணம் - எம்பெருமான் ஸ்ரீமன் நாரணனின் பெருமையை

பேசினவர்கள் உஜ்ஜீவித்தார்கள். எம்பெருமானை சிசுபாலாதிகளைப் போலே ஏசியவர்கள் கூட

ஸம்ஸாரத்தைக் கடந்து முக்தரானார்கள். தனக்கு, அலையெறிகின்ற கடல்போன்ற நிறத்தனான எம்பெருமான் விஷயத்திலே ஆசை அதீதமாக ப்ராவாகிக்கிறது ~  ஆனால் எனக்கு பேசவும் தெரியாது ! ~ அவனிடத்தில் கொண்ட மையலிலே நிச்சயமாக ஏச எள்ளளவும் மனம் நினையாது !மோக்ஷம் பெறவேணுமென்கிற ஆசையோ அளவு கடந்திருக்கின்றது! நான் செய்வதேன்?  என கவலைப்படுகிறார். 

பேசினார் பிறவி நீத்தார் பேருளான் பெருமை பேசி,

ஏசினார் உய்ந்து போனார் என்பதிவ்வுலகின் வண்ணம்,

பேசினேன் ஏச மாட்டேன் பேதையேன் பிறவி நீத்தற்கு,

ஆசையோ பெரிது கொள்க அலைகடல் வண்ணர் பாலே.

At 8 pm, Sri Parthasarathi had purappadu on the occasion of Deepa Uthsavam after lamps were lit all over the temple and in all sannadhis.  The highlight of the day is the lighting of ‘chokka panai’ – a structure made of palmirah trunk and leaves stuffed with rice bran etc., ….. people put fireworks also into this bonfire.  This symbolizes burning of bad behavior and unwanted elements ~ the lamps symbolize blossoming knowledge.

From this starts ‘ananathyayanam’ and so no purappadu for sometime.  From  midnight of today, there will be thailakappu for Moolavar and there will be no darshan of moolavar in Sri Parthasarathi temple.  In the period of ‘Anadhyayanam’ ~ Divyaprabandham and Vedas will not be recited in Temples and at homes.  This tradition is followed in all Divyadesams.   

The Adhyayana Uthsavam i.e, Pagal Pathu and Irapathu Uthsavam starts on 27.12.  On the 6th day of Pagal Pathu, Thirumangai Azhwar’s Thirumozhi will be recited and at the time of rendering of Sthala pasuram ‘Virperu Vizhavum Kanjanum Mallum’ – screens will be off and from then on devotees will have full darshan of Sri Venkata Krishnan, the moolavar and other moolavar idols.  However, this year it happens to be the 1st day of Jan 2020 and hence there in all probability would be darshan of moolavar right from the morning.
