Thirumylai Sri Adhi Kesava Perumal Garudothsavam 2019

Thiruvallikkeni is part of Thondaimandalam.. associated with Pallava dynasty.  The Pallava Kings ruled regions of northern Tamil Nadu and southern Andhra Pradesh between the 2nd and 9th centuries CE.  In divyaprabandham, alongside Thiruvallikkeni, Mylapore is associated as “Mylai Thiruvallikkeni”.

At  Thiruvallikkeni it was Theppothsavam, Thavanothsavam,  & Pallava uthsavam.  During Pallava uthsavam, at the divine feet of Lord Ranganatha, tender foliage of mango is kept. For the foodie, ‘vadu mangai’ ~ the pickle of maavadu [tender mango : tiny baby mangoes] are great favourites. With the onset of summer of these small early staged mangoes hit the market and are straightway hits. ~ there is no better place to buy them than the mada veethi of Mylapore ….as you walk nearer, there is the famous Chithirai kulam belonging to Thirumylai Sri Adhi Kesava Perumal kovil, an ancient temple of Mylapore.

It is the time of annual Brahmothsavam and today morning (25^th  Mar 2019) it was the glittering Garuda vahanam.  The speciality of this temple is the importance accorded to Sri Peyalwar in every ritual, being his birth place.  Today too, Sri Peyazhwar welcomed Sri Adhi Kesava Perumal in golden Garuda vahanam.  There was oyyali [Aesal too] .. here are some photos taken during the purappadu at mylai mada veethi, this morning.

திருமயிலைவாசி ஸ்ரீ பேயாழ்வார்; அவரருளும் சிறப்பான உபாயமாவது ..  "அரணாம் நமக்கென்றும் ஆழி வலவன்"  ~ ஸ்ரீமன் நாராயணான எம்பெருமானே நமக்கு என்றென்றும் ரக்ஷகன்.  அவனை அடைய நாம் என்ன செய்ய வேண்டும் ?  ~ இருகை  கூப்பி அவனடியே  சரணம் புகுதல் வேண்டும்.  எவ்வளவு எளிதானது ~ நம் முயற்சி ஒன்றுமே வேண்டாமே !!  நம்முடைய ரக்ஷணத்தில் நாம் முயல்வதை விட்டிட்டு அவனுடைய ரக்ஷகத்வத்திற்கு அவகாசம் கொடுப்போமாகில் அவன்  எக்காலத்திலும் ரக்ஷண ஜாகரூகனாயிருந்தருள்வன் என்பது மயர்வற மதிநலமுடைய பேயாழ்வார் வாக்கு.   இதோ அவரது மூன்றாம் திருவந்தாதியில் இருந்து ஒரு அற்புத பாசுரம் :  

அரணாம் நமக்கென்றும் ஆழி வலவன்,

முரனாள் வலம்சுழிந்த மொய்ம்பன், - சரணாமேல்

ஏதுகதி ஏதுநிலை ஏது பிறப்பென்னாதே,

ஓதுகதி மாயனையே ஓர்த்து.

எம்பெருமான் ஸ்ரீமன் நாரணன் எத்தகையவன்  !! ~  திருவாழியாழ்வானை வலத்திருக்கையிலுடையவனும், முராஸுரனுடைய ஆயுளையும், வலிமையையும் போக்கின மொய்ம்பன் (மிடுக்கையுடையவனுமான பெருமான்) - அவ்வளவு சிறப்பு மிக்கவன் நமக்கு ரக்ஷகனாக அமையும் பக்ஷத்தில், நம்மிடத்தில் உள்ள எத்தகைய குறைகளையும் கருதாமல்,  நமக்கு எல்லாக் காலத்திலும் ரக்ஷகனாகவேயிருப்பன், நெஞ்சமே இதை நன்றாக அறிந்து கொண்டு, ஆச்சரியமான குண சேஷ்டிதங்களையுடையனான அப்பெருமானையே உபாயமாக புரிந்து கொண்டு, அவனது நாமங்களையே  அநுஸந்தித்துக் கொண்டிரு. என உரைக்கிறார் நம் பேயாழ்வார்.
