வாழ விரும்பிய குலசேகரர் வாக்கில் - *தேனார் பூஞ்சோலை திருவேங்கடச்சுனையில்
மீனாய் பிறக்கும் விதி உடையேன் ஆவேனே*!'
திருமால் தன் அடியார்களை காப்பதற்கு எழுந்து
அருளி இருக்கும் திவ்யதேசங்களில் தலையானது "திருமலை" என போற்றப்படும் "திருவேங்கடம்
- திருப்பதி"- குளிரருவி வேங்கடம்; விரிதிரை வேங்கடம் என மிகுந்த அருவிகளை
உடையதாக புகழப் படுகிறது.

The holy Tirumala Thirupathi
Temple, the above of Thiruvengadamudaidayn Thirupathi Balaji, located in Andhra
Pradesh at ~3,200 feet, among 7-peaked
Seshachalam range is most reverred.
Known as Sapthagiri, these hills [Seshadri, Neeladri, Garudadri, Anjanadri, Vrushabadri,
Narayanadri, and Venkatadri] feature the ancient
1.5-billion-year-old Natural Arch, scenic forests, and a significant pilgrim
trekking route from Alipiri (7.8 km). The
Seven Peaks (Sapthagiri): The hills represent the seven hoods of Adisesha. The holy Hills are praised by Alwar as one
having many river streams and there are ponds too.
Well, they are mountains
with rich bio-diversity and how come there is water pond at a height of 3200 ft
!! Ponds develop atop hills through
several natural and artificial processes, often defying the expectation that
water only collects in lowlands. Many hilltop or mountain-top ponds are tarns,
which form in "cirques" (bowl-shaped basins) carved out by eroding
glaciers. In some geological formations,
the water table mirrors the topography of the land, rising under hills. If the
water table intersects the surface at a hilltop, it creates a natural spring
that can pool into a pond. In limestone
regions, groundwater can dissolve underlying rock, causing the surface to
"sag." If there is an impermeable soil layer (like clay), these
depressions will collect surface water.
The sacred pond – Temple
Thirukkulam at Thirumala Thirupathi is a wonder. Located
on the right of the temple prakaram [as we stand before the holy Temple] and nearer
Adivaraha Swamy thirukkovil is this
beautiful thirukkulam, regarded as the
supreme Koneru (sacred tank) among all the holy water bodies in the world. Legends say that the Swami Pushkarani was
originally based in Vaikuntam-the dwelling of Lord Vishnu, but was transported
by Garuda to earth for use of His Master who came to earth in search of His
consort Mahalakshmi and settle here as Venkateswara Swamy in Kaliyuga. Bathing
at Swami Pushkarini is considered very holy equal to bathing in the holy River
Ganga.
It is in this
thirukkulam the Chakra snanam [holy immersion] of Sri Sudharsana Alwar occurs
on the concluding day of Brahmothsavam and now is the time of Theppothsavam
(masi month) of Malaiyappa swami, Seetha Rama Lakshmana, Sri Rukmini Sri
Krishna, occur.
Saluva King Narasimha Deva
Raya (1485–1491) was the founder of the Saluva Dynasty in the Vijayanagara
Empire. He stabilized the realm against rebellious vassals, revived the horse
trade, and defended against the Gajapati Empire, leaving a strengthened kingdom
to his minister, Narasa Nayaka The
Saluva dynasty was the second dynasty of Chandravamsa lineage to rule the
Vijayanagara Empire and was created by the Saluvas, who by historical tradition
were natives of the Kalyani region of northern Karnataka in modern India. The
term "Saluva" is known to lexicographers as "hawk" used in
hunting.
Saluva Narasimha Deva
Raya ruled from 1485 until his death in 1491. A
patron of the Madhwa saint Sripadaraya, he authored the Sanskrit work Rama
Bhyudayam. He also patronised Kannada poet Kavi Linga. In 1452, he was
conferred the title Maha Mandaleshwara of Chandragiri during the reign of
emperor Mallikarjuna Raya. His father Saluva Gunda was the governor of
Chandragiri.

The holy pushkarini at
Thirumala – Koneru spans 1.50 acres and was
first enhanced in 1468 by Saluva Narasimha Rayalu, who constructed the Neerazhi
Mandapam at its midpoint. During the
15th century, the Thallapaka family renovated the structure and added steps for
easier access. Inside the holy Temple,
ten feet to the south of the flagstaff, there is a stone pillared pavilion
called Tirumalaraya Mandapam. This too was built by Saluvanarasimharayalu
Lakhs visit Thirumala daily
and tens of thousands take ritualistic bath in the temple tank, seeking to do
away with their sins. In tune with the
modern times, the water of Swamy Pushkarini is scientifically
treated by a state-of-the-art recycling facility. TTD has set up filters and
state of the art drains in the Pushkarini since 1972. Pushkarini water is
drained at regular intervals and refilled with fresh water that emerged from
its springs. Thirumala Thirupathi Devasthanam has been showcasing the Swami Pushkarani as
one of iconic brand Tirumala monuments.

திருமலை திருப்பதி - கலியுக
வைகுண்டம் என போற்றப்படும் அற்புத திவ்ய க்ஷேத்திரத்திலே அமைந்துள்ள புண்ணிய தீர்த்தம்
- கோனேரி புஷ்கரிணி. ஸ்வாமி புஷ்கரணி என வழங்கப்படும் இந்த திருக்குளம், கோவிலுக்கு
அருகே - கோவிலின் இடது புறத்தில் ஆதிவராக மூர்த்தி சன்னிதிக்கு அருகில் இந்த தீர்த்தம்
உள்ளது. மிகவும் புனிதத்துவம் பெற்ற தீர்த்தம் இது.
திருமலை
பற்றி சிறப்பான பத்து பாசுரங்கள் அருளிச்செய்த குலசேகர ஆழ்வார் - ஏதுவாகவேனும் இங்கே
பிறக்க வேண்டும் என மனமுறுகிறார். அவர் அருளிச்செய்த பெருமாள் திருமொழி நான்காம் பத்தின்
முதல் பாசுரம் இங்கே :
ஊனேறு செல்வத்து உடற்பிறவி யான்
வேண்டேன்
ஆனேறேழ் வென்றான் அடிமைத் திறமல்லால்
கூனேறு சங்கமிடத்தான் தன் வேங்கடத்து
கோனேரி வாழும் குருகாய்ப் பிறப்பேனே

திருவேங்கடமலையில்
வாழ்ச்சி கிடைக்கப் பெற்றால், விவேகமற்றதொரு திர்யக் ஜாதியாகப் பிறப்பதும், அடியேனுக்குப் பரமோத்தேச்யமாகும் என்கிறார் ஆழ்வார். அத்திருமலை வாழ்ச்சிக்கு விரோதியான இம்மானிட வுடற்பிறவி
எனக்கு ஒரு நாளும் வேண்டா, என்கிறார். அடிமைத்
திறமாவது – திருவடி திருவனந்தாழ்வான் இளைய பெருமாள் முதலானவர்கள் போலப் பல படியாலும்
ஒழிவில் காலமெல்லா முடனாய் மன்னி வழுவிலா வடிமை செய்யும் வகை. கோன் ஏரி – ஸ்வாமி புஷ்கரிணி. இப்பெயர் ஸர்வலொக நிர்வாஹகனான எம்பெருமானுக்கு மிகவும்
பிரியமான தடாகமெனப் பொருள்படும். அன்றி, எல்லாத்
தீர்த்தங்களிலும் தலைமை பெற்ற தீர்த்தமென்றும் பொருளாகலாம். இந்த ஸ்வாமி புஷ்கரிணியின் சிறப்பு. வராஹபுராணம்
முதலியவற்றின் காணத்தக்கது. திருமலையில் ஸந்நிதிக்கு அருகிலுள்ள பிரதானமாக திவ்யதீர்த்தம்
இது.
உடல் பிறவி யான் வேண்டேன் ” என்று பிறவியை இகழ்ந்தவர் தாமே, ” குருகாய்ப் பிறப்பேனே “ என்று பிறவியை விரும்பினமையால், அங்கே பிறப்பது பிறப்பன்று, அது விரஜாநதியைச் சேர்ந்து வைகுண்டத்தில் வாழ்வதொக்குமென்று கருதினர் என்பது விளங்கும். ஊன்,ஆண், கோன் என்பவற்றில், ன் – சாரியை, குருகு என்ற சொல் – அன்னம் க்ரௌஞ்சம் என்ற நீர்வாழ் பறவைகளைக் குறிப்பதாகவும். பறவைப் பொதுப் பெயராகவும் வழங்கும். கீழ் ” குருகாய்ப் பிறப்பேனே ” என்றவர், அதற்கு இறகுகள் இருப்பதால் அது அத்திருமலையைவிட்டுப் பறந்து வேற்றிடத்திற்குச் சென்றிடக்கூடுமெனக் கருதி, அங்ஙனமன்றி அத்திருமலையிலேயே பிறப்பு வாழ்ச்சி இறப்புகளையுடைய மீனாய்ப் பிறப்பேனாகவென்று இப்பாட்டில் வேண்டுகின்றார். குருகாய்ப் பிறத்தலோடு அதற்கு இரையாகின்ற மீனாய்ப் பிறத்தலோடு இவர்க்கு வாசியில்லை, திருமலையில் ஏதேனும் ஒரு ஜன்மத்தையே அபேக்ஷிப்பவராதலால், ” எம் பெருமான் பொன்மலைமேல் ஏதேனு மாவேனே ” என்பர் பின்னும்.
இந்த
திருக்குளத்தை தவிர - திருப்பதியில் - ஸ்ரீ அனந்தாழ்வான் தோட்டத்தில் - இராமானுஜ புஷ்கரிணி
அமைந்துள்ளது. இவற்றை தவிர - குமார தீர்த்தம்; பாபநாசம் மலைப்பகுதியில் இருந்து
சுமார் 10 கிலோ மீட்டர் தொலைவில் அடர்ந்த காட்டுப்பகுதியில் நீளமாக பிளவுபட்ட மலையின்
அடிப்பகுதியில் தும்புரு தீர்த்தம்; திருப்பதி மலையடிவாரத்தில் உள்ள அலிபிரி பகுதியில்
கபில தீர்த்தம்; மலைக்கு மேலே அமைந்துள்ள ஆகாச கங்கை; பாண்டு தீர்த்தம்; இயற்கை எழில் கொஞ்சும் சூழ்நிலையில்
அமைந்துள்ள- பாபவிநாசன தீர்த்தம் என நீர்நிலைகள் உள்ளன. திருமலையில் இருந்தும் சில இடங்களில் சுனை அருவிகள்
தானாக சுரந்து ஓடி வருவதையும் மலை ஏறும்போது இன்றும் காண முடியும்.
