Thiruvallikkeni kainkaryam - dedicated to Emperuman and walking with HIM

 In every purappadu – there are so many attractions – Emperuman – arulicheyal goshti, sripadhamthangigal, Archakas (battacharyas) and many many kainkaryabarargal .. .. for sure, we fail to notice and appreciate many of them !!  -  Are you interested in doing some form of kainkaryam ? – what is your perception !

The Supreme Divine Personality Bhagwan Sree Krishna – in the middle of chaotic war – where lakhs had aligned on either side to exterminate each other, gave the great Bhagwad Geetha.  Here is a verse:

श्रीभगवानुवाच |

पश्य मे पार्थ रूपाणि शतशोऽथ सहस्रश: |

नानाविधानि दिव्यानि नानावर्णाकृतीनि च || 5||

śhrī-bhagavān uvācha

paśhya me pārtha rūpāi śhataśho ’tha sahasraśha

nānā-vidhāni divyāni nānā-varākitīni cha

After listening to Kanteepan Arjunan’s  prayers, Shree Krishna now asks him to have a vision of his viśhwarūp, or universal form.  He asks Arjuna to behold, pay full attention.   Although the form is one, it has unlimited features, and contains innumerable personalities of multitude shapes and variegated colors. Shree Krishna uses the phrase śhataśho ’tha sahasraśha to indicate they exist in innumerable fashions and multitude ways.

We at Thiruvallikkeni are indeed fortunate to have darshan of the Lord who volunteered to be the charioteer of Arjuna and gave us the immortal Bhawagat Gita.

Of all the philosophies, axioms and pearls of wisdom – people talk about being good to others.  In every society, there are good and bad people – good and bad things .. .. – primarily something which we want to happen, and some which should not be happening !!   The words "good" and "bad" are basic determinants  about value or ethics.   We go to Temples, worship Emperuman, forget our worries and are blissfully happy…  ..

Life in a divyadesam is always exciting ! ~ it provides ample opportunities to be with Emperuman and do kainkaryam .. .. the primary challenge is one of involvement and being with Lord for long hours -  one can observe, appreciate,  involve oneself in so many forms of Kainkaryams – there is the glorious Archaga kainkaryam,  arulicheyal kainkaryam, sripadham kainkaryam, nadaswaram thavil and other mangala vadhyams,  kainkaryam to bagavathas and those involved in service to Emperuman,  financial kainkaryam for specified projects, offering beautiful jewels, vasthrams,  doing service, providing floral garlands, providing fruits and offerings, cleaning, regulating, painting, and so many more avenues ~ some are physical and requires extraordinary commitment .. ..

In our Srivaishnava sampradhayam – ‘thiruvilakku’ – the divine lamps – otherwise known as ‘Theevatti’ is of great relevance.  In every purappadu, the theevatti bearers are nearer Emperuman and the karpuram for harathi is lit by theevatti only.

Lord Krishna being the great cowherd,  Triplicane from time immemorial has large number of cattle and these days, Cows and some bulls too loiter menacingly on the streets – sometimes hampering purappadu and threatening people too.

All of us associated with Thiruvallikkeni divyadesam and regular to Sri Parthasarathi Thirukkovil – for sure would have seen him, and most of us talk to him regularly.  In fact he is a man of very few words – wears a nice smile on his face and does dedicated kainkaryam.  He is involved and has trained a batch of youngsters in ‘theevatti kainkaryam’ – accompanying Perumal walking along nearer during purappadu.  .. .. .. and he volunteers with few other friends regulating traffic and carefully taking the stray cattle away without harming them during purappadu.  He is Thiru Senthil Kumar, s/o Parthasarathi, aged 52.

People like Senthil are rare, and do kainkaryam without seeking any attention – many may not have time and thought to notice kainkaryabarargal like him, leave alone appreciating such good acts.

He generally turns away from photo – Triplicanites indeed like him and people like him and here are couple of photos.
