Sri Andal Neeratta Uthsavam ~ : ஒருத்தி மகனாய்ப் பிறந்து ஓர் இரவில்*

Of the incarnations of Sriman Narayana,  His descent in human form as Krishna has been glorified as the most accessible and endearing.  Among the Azhwargal, Sri Goda devi [Kothai Piratti @ Andal] is unique and her immortal hymns of Thiruppavai and Nachiyar Thirumozhi, do stand out.  Thiruppavai is on ceremonial austerity [Pavai nonbu] and her singleminded devotion in service to the Lord  is explicitly abundant.  

During the month of Margazhi, Thiruppavai is recited and to each day is attributed one pasuram.  At Thiruvallikkeni divyadesam today [9^th Jan 2016] is day 4 of Andal Neeratta Uthsavam.  Here is pasuram 25 of Thiruppavai :

ஒருத்தி மகனாய்ப் பிறந்துஓர் இரவில்* ஒருத்தி மகனாய் ஒளித்து வளரத்*

தரிக்கிலான் ஆகித்தான் தீங்கு நினைந்த* கருத்தைப் பிழைப்பித்துக் கஞ்சன் வயிற்றில்*

நெருப்பென்ன நின்ற நெடுமாலே உன்னை*  அருத்தித்து வந்தோம் பறைதருதியாகில்*

திருத்தக்க செல்வமும் சேவகமும் யாம்பாடி* வருத்தமும் தீர்ந்து மகிழ்ந்தேலோர் எம்பாவாய்.

Sri Andal praises the Lord who was born in anonymity as Devaki’s child and overnight moved out of incarceration to grow incognito as Yasodha’s child at Gokulam.  As He grew, he foiled the intent of depot Kamsa.  Andal with her group  pays obeisance  and beseeches upon that Lord to grant measureless wealth and blessed service to Him – the only thing which is capable to ending sorrow and providing eternal rejoice. 

Let us all pray to Goda Devi whose hymns offer us the right guidance and intent to look to the lotus feet of Lord.  Here are some photos taken during today’s morning purappadu.

Sri Andal Neeratta Uthsavam at Thiruvallikkeni 2016

The Supreme Lord, the Sovereign Master of the Universe does everything to win the love of His subjects ~ and there is One who thought only about Him, was so devoted that She could reach Him – Andal, Godha Piratti.

Today  6^th Jan 2016  marks the 1^st day of ‘Andal Neeratta Uthsavam’ – the 9 day Uthsavam in Margazhi, the month of Thiruppavai.   Andal’s Thiruppavai contains ocean of values including significance of  Naama sankeerthanam to Sriman Narayana.   The Saint Poetess observed Paavai Nonbu (vratham) to attain Lord Krishna.  The month chosen for the vratham was Margazhi also known as Dhanur Masam.  She was on vratham throughout the month and the month of Margazhi got lot of significance because of Andal.

Daily morning there will be veedhi purappadu of Andal signifying her preparation for the neerattam.  After the purappadu, Andal will have ‘Thirumanjanam’ at the Neeratta mandapam . Here are some photos of the purappadu, this morning.

Thiruvallikkeni Margazhi Hastham purappadu 2016 - Sri Varadha Rajar

Today 2^nd Jan 2016 is Hastha Nakshathiram in the month of Margazhi.  Today evening Sri Varadharajar had purappadu at Thiruvallikkeni.

Sri Parthasarathi Theppothsavam - day 1 - Neeratta Mandapam

In the divyadesam of Thiruvallikkeni, there is a small Neeratta mandapam, exactly opposite to Periya Thiruther.  Sri Andal during the Neeratta Uthsavam in Margazhi has thirumanjanam here.

The annual float festival [Theppothsavam] is being celebrated at Thiruvallikkeni Divyadesam and I have posted about the day 1 festivity along with photos.  After the 5 rounds in the Theppam, Sri Parthasarathi had mandakapadi at the neeratta mandapam.

After there was to be purappadu in ‘siriya Thiruther’ ~ as the mada veethis are being relaid, the roads have been dug up and there could not be the ‘car festival’ as scheduled.  Sri Parthasarathi, had periya mada veethi purappadu in the kedayam.  Here are photos of the mantap as also Perumal having rest at the Mantap.
