Thiruvallikkeni Ratha Sapthami 2025 ~ Chandra Prabhai

 

ரத சப்தமியான 4.2.2025 அன்று  மாலை சந்திர பிரபை புறப்பாடு.   சந்திரன் எனும் நிலா -  வட்டமான வடிவத்தையும், வெண்மையான நிறத்தையும், குளிர்ச்சியையும், மன அமைதியையும் அளிப்பதாக அமைந்துள்ளது.   செல்போன் கண்டு பிடிக்காத  முன்னொரு காலத்திலே  தாய்மார்கள் தங்கள் குழந்தைக்கு நிலவை காட்டி  உணவு ஊட்டி மகிழ்ந்தனர். 

Compared with the billions of other stars in the Universe,  it  is remarkable.  It is infact  a ball of gas (92.1 percent hydrogen and 7.8 percent helium) held together by its own gravity. It is  4,500,000,000 years old!  That's a lot of zeroes. That’s four and a half billion.  Going by what others do, i.e., burning  for about nine or 10 billion years – it can be said tobe halfway through its life. So no worries, it still has about 5,000,000,000—five billion (500 crores !)—years to go.  It is the SUN.   .. .. then there is the Moon - Moon has enamoured mankind and over the centuries, mankind has been researching more and more on moon.  

Are you a star gazer ?  – would you spend a few minutes looking at the sky, wondering the horizon, the twinkling stars, the beautiful moon. For most city dwellers, these may not be their avocation.  Five hundred years ago, Leonardo da Vinci proposed an outlandish theory explaining why the Moon’s surface glows after lunar nightfall. Turns out, his idea was correct. The Da Vinci Glow–also known as “Earthshine”–makes the entire lunar disk visible even when the sunlit fraction is just a few percent. For much of human history, people marveled at the faint image of the full Moon inside the arms of the crescent. Where did it come from? No one knew until the 16th century when Leonardo figured it out. He realized that sunlight reflected from Earth lit up the lunar night.

Indian Space Research Organisation’s (ISRO) Chandrayaan-1 was the first moon mission that indicated the widespread presence of water molecules on lunar soil back in November 2008. The mission detected water three months before NASA’s Moon Meteorology Mapper. More than ten years after its first lunar exploration mission, the Indian space agency launched its second lunar mission, Chandrayaan-2, in July 2019.  Although the first mission was essentially a success and even confirmed the presence of water on the moon, Chandrayaan-1 could not determine the precise nature of the hydration signatures it detected. The ISRO scientists readied the second moon mission to overcome this challenge. Chandrayaan-2 possessed a higher spatial resolution of 80m and a spectral range spanning a 2.8–3.5 µm region—ideal for characterising OH and H2O.

சூரியனின் ஒளியைப் "பகலொளி' என்றும், சந்திரனிலிருந்து வரும் ஒளியை "நிலவொளி' என்றும் சங்க பாடல்களில் காட்டப்பட்டுள்ளது.  நாலடியார்  பாடலில்,  "அங்கண் விசும்பின் அகல் நிலாப்பாரிக்கும்/ திங்களும் சான்றோரும் ஒப்பர்மன்'  எனுமிடத்தில்  "இடமகன்ற அழகிய வானின்கண் மிகுதியாக நிலாவினை (ஒளியினை) தோற்றுவிக்கும் சந்திரனும் சான்றோரும் ஒப்பர்' என்பது பொருள்.  

விஷ்ணுசித்தனான பெரியாழ்வார் கண்ணனது ஒவ்வொரு பருவத்தையும் அனுபவித்து பாசுரங்கள் அருளியுள்ளார்.  வளரும் கண்ணனுக்கு யசோதை அம்புலியை  அழைக்கும் ஒரு பாசுரம் இங்கே :

என்  சிறுக்குட்டன் எனக்கோர்  இன்னமுது எம்பிரான்

தன்  சிறுக்கைகளால் காட்டிக் காட்டி  அழைக்கின்றான்

அஞ்சனவண்ணனோடு ஆடலாட உறுதியேல்

மஞ்சில் மறையாதே மாமதீ மகிழ்ந்தோடி  வா.

 

கோகுலத்தில் தவழ்ந்து வளர்ந்த கண்ணபிரானும்  அவ்வாறே நிலவை அழைக்க - அவனை சீராட்டி யசோதையும் ஏனைய  இடைப்பெண்களும்,  சந்திரனை அழைத்தனர்.   சந்திரன் மேகத்தில் மறைந்து போவது இயல்பாதலால் அப்படி மறைந்து போகாதே  என யசோதை வேண்டியதாக, பெரியாழ்வார் தமது பாசுரத்தில் கூறுகிறார். . 

Moon has enamoured mankind for ages – in our literature and in Divyaprabhandnam too, there is mention of moon in many a places.  Moon is characterised as a cool, pleasant one.  During the brahmothsavam at Thiruvallikkeni divyadesam,  on day 4  there is  Surya prabhai purappadu in the morning and in the evening -  Chandra prabhai.   It is Surya prabhai and Chandra prabhai for Ratha Sapthami too.   Here are some photos of Sri Parthasarathi Chandra prabhai purappadu of 4^th Feb 2025 being   Ratha Sapthami.
